    So tired

Oh I'm hoping that will happen for me. I have one cup of coffee a day and then green teA around noon/ after lunch. I thought green tea had natural caffeine and it's been helping me get thru the day. I've ordered Matcha green tea powder which I'm going to add to my smoothies as well to see if that helps too especially on my gym nights. I'll let you guys know if it helps ????

    February

It's 8 weeks this Wednesday for me. I'm allowed to eat anything I want for the most part. Are my first real salad tonight. So far it's agreed with me. I'm going to make an appointment with my NUT next week to see about varying my diet. I'm stuck eating the same basic things each day - which is boring. I never thought I would see the day ( in this whole journey) that I would care less about food. It no longer dictates my life or tells me what to do. So now I'm left with dealing with all these emotions and I'm having a hard time dealing with it. I've lost approx 36 lbs since preop and inches although I haven't kept track of those official numbers. I still have issues with going to the bathroom. I've given up thinking I'm regular. Just when I think I've got a pattern going something stops... Or I get severe pains and can't go. The pain is dibilitAting. I'm adding fiber to my smoothies and eating grapes. Hoping to get natural fiber in. I'm struggling with excercise. I'm a single mom so my designated gym days get cancelled sometimes depending on care for my son. I need some motivation for that-- any suggestions? Sorry for rambling. I might sound like I'm complaining but I'm not ???? I've lessened my insulin, I've lost 36 lbs and counting, and my clothes feel better. People tell me everyday they can see a difference. I hold my head up a lil higher and I'm taking it one day at a time. I'm so glad I made this decision.

    Raging hormones

I accidently posted in the wrong section... I think I am in the right section now. So I am about 8 weeks post op this week. I have had raging PMS a good week before I start. Does anyone else have this problem post-surgery? Pre-surgery I was not like this. I would have regular symptoms of PMS. Occasional irritability, emotional.... but this..this IS like I'm hosting a beast inside me for a few days. I get so angry for no reason... I want to tear into people for the smallest thing. I don't know what is happening to me. I've just started to put two and two together since I was like this last month. I am on the pill, same one for years, so no change in that. If it's hormones... do I talk to my GYN or my Surgeon about this?

    STILL STALLED. help :(

Stalls... I think this is a very popular topic. I feel like every week I'm in a stall. But I think that's because I weigh myself every day. I know I shouldn't, my Dr. told me not too-- but I can't stop myself. I think part of my problem is I don't work out like I should, and my meals are pretty much the same every day. I don't mix it up a lot. I have really struggled with energy levels since I have had surgery. I used to be in the gym at minimum 3 days a week for over an hour at a time. Since surgery (2/25) I've been in the gym maybe 5 times. I just am sapped for energy, and now I've gone back to work and it's even worse. I have walked in my neighborhood a few times, but I am really slacking with my gym time. I saw my Dr 2 weeks ago and I have only lost 3 lbs... that might not sound like a stall. But I have fluctuated that 3 lbs for 2 weeks.. I am losing inches, I do notice all of my clothes fitting differently and looser. But I really thought that the weight would come off a bit faster and in larger chunks.... How does everyone get more energized? I need more motivation...

    Feeling full?

I have to agree with most of the posts here.. I am almost 8 weeks post op and I have to eat based on measurements and not on feeling. I "could" eat until I'm stuffed, but that feeling is very painful for me. So i measure my food, eat my Protein first, and then when I start thinking I'm full (or after about 20 minutes) I put my food away or do the dishes. Technically, I could "graze" all day. But I know better than to do that.

    February

hello, everyone! I go for my 6 week check up tomorrow. I think I'm down about 30 lbs? We will see tomorrow. Coming back to work really helped with speeding up my weight loss.I came back last week and I lost probably 5 lbs in just five days. My question to all of you is some suggestions to vary my diet up.. I feel like I am stuck eating the same things for my "snacks"... greek yogurt or cottage cheese. I typically have a smoothie for breakfast, lean turkey or chicken with veggies for lunch and about the same for dinner. I'm not worried about my meals, but the yogurt and cottage cheese is getting so old.... It's how I get in additional protein so I can't really have veggies or fruit.... Any advise? What are you guys doing?

    Bluesy day

I'm doing better. I really feel like I'm doing something wrong.... I have been at the same weight for over 3 weeks. I cannot lose more than a few ounces. I write down everything I eat. I'm getting 60-75 grams of Protein 48-60 oz of Water.... I get to the gym every other day. What gives? I do go back to work on Wednesday so in hoping that might help with getting me more out of my comfort zone. I do find myself looking or wanting to snack at night. I found a low calorie air pop popcorn, but I think that might be causing me to not lose?

    Bluesy day

Today was a little better. Still feeling sad. I went to the gym. I only did 30 minutes. I can't shake this feeling. Last night I ended up with a migraine and that certainly didn't help my mood. I just tell myself that tomorrow will be better. Thanks guys!!

    Diet soda

I have been so nauseous this evening. My Zofran is not working and nothing tastes good ????. I just want to sip on a diet ginger ale.... I know I can't have it. I've tried Water, chicken broth, flavored water, iced tea,.... Nothing is really cutting it. Any suggestions? I'm not sure what is causing my nausea... I've only gotten in half my Vitamins today and I've had a Protein shake and some mushy foods earlier today before my nausea got worse. I just want to sip on a cold diet ginger ale.....

    Diet soda

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and support. I was back in the gym today ???? and am getting my water and protein in. My nausea is gone (knock on wood). I am down 25 lbs in 3 weeks woohoo! Not worried that the scale hasn't moved in a week. But I did get into a pair of old jeans ???? I'll take that as a win!

    Very confused!

Honestly- there has been a time or two that I felt like that too. I'm 3 weeks post op... I'm down 25 lbs and the scale hasn't moved in a week. I was even dehydrated and sick earlier this week too I am back to drinking my Water and getting my Protein in and went to the gym today. But last week I felt like I could eat whatever I wanted. But it's not true!! I had a lot of pain when I tried to eat a piece of chicken and learned VERY fast that I do have a small pouch and it was too soon to try meat. I felt my food digesting at it hurt. I went back to Soups and refried Beans and take my time when I eat. Good luck! ????

    Weight loss

Hi! Welcome. Congrats on your loss. That's a great start for 5 weeks out. But it sounds like you are not eating enough. I use the app my fitness pal to help me count my calories and track my food. I set myself on 750 calories a day with at least 60-75 grams of Protein per day. I use a small portion of fresh fruit of I'm making a shake to make it taste better or o use Premier Protein shakes , these are 30 g of protein and pre-made. I eat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt 100 calories, the tuna packets that are drained and come flavored, ground turkey,.... I just stay away from carbs. Occasionally I will have a small sweet potato with spray butter. Sometimes I feel like I don't have a lot of options but then I pull up Pinterest and see all these great recipes and foods I can make. Good luck! ????

    Diet soda

I am feeling better today. I'm taking the anti nausea medicine every six hours I've been able to drink power ade today The funny thing about soda- before surgery I maybe had 2 sodas a week. I had been able to kick that habit awhile ago. But lately with being sick I've wanted to sip on a soda bc that's what I always did before when I was sick to my stomach.

    Diet soda

My dr called me yesterday and wantede to come in for IV fluids this morning. She suspects I'm dehydrated which is why I'm so nauseous. But my lil boy woke up sick this morning and I don't have a sitter so I am drinking Power ade (sugar free) and she phoned me in Promathezine for my nausea as well. But that knocks me out. I'm trying to drink my liquids and just get re-hydrated and see what tomorrow brings.

    Memory loss anyone?

Yes!! My dr called it " bariatric brain" she said it will pass. It's also coming from lowering your carb intake as well. The brain uses carbs. So if you are not taking in a lot of carbs- this happens. I have it too.

    ID bracelet

I'm not sure if we've talked about medical ID bracelets? But I did get one , well actually 2. They came from Laurenshope.com. I like them bc the information is on the inside of the ID tag and I can mix the bracelet selection whenever I want. I can get the bracelet from like Michaels or other lil craft stores. Check out their website and request a catalogue. I am also a diabetic and have sulfur allergies so I think it's a good investment. It was about 25$ for each.

Does Your GI System Feel Different?

I feel it most days. I'm 16 days post op. So as I eat and experiment with different mushy foods I do hear and feel something in my stomach as it digests. It doesn't hurt but it feels weird. Sometimes I get bloated and feel it even more. It's quite a strange sensation.

    Gained ????

Oh that is so cool! Dr Bautista is phenomenal! So is his nurse practitioner Jeanine Moss! They take their time with you and address all of your concerns. I saw Dr Bautista every day I was in the hospital and he did a great job. Tips- just push through the liver shrinking diet. It sucks, there is nothing to sugar coat that. Don't take too much to the hospital except essentials, you will be resting a lot when they aren't poking you. Mary is an awesome nurse so I hope you get her one of your nights. Don't try and be a hero take your pain meds. Dr Bautista does not do pain pumps so the nurses will do their best to make you comfortable but getting up the first few times is rough. When you go down for your upper GI be prepared to have to get up on that table by yourself I didn't have any family with me but I wish I had asked a nurse or an aide to help me down there. The tech I had was horrible and getting up and down from that table was not fun and in fact I complained about how unaccomadating they were. Not to scare you, but see if someone can help you. Plus I sat in that hallway for almost 30 minutes waiting for someone to take me back to my room. What side of town are you on?

    Nauseous at night

Are you congested or having post nasal drip? That happened to me last week and I ended up with a bad cold. But it is that time of year for sinusitis act up. My dr said my nausea at night might be coming from phlegm being swallowed during the day and then laying down its in the pouch. Just an idea. Hope you feel better.

    I just want to say........

Awww that is so sweet. I feel the same way. I lurked for the longest time before joining. I wanted a positive, honest, safe place to come to and I feel I have found it here. I think we have all been (at some point in our life) in negative and unhealthy places and know how that feels. And we don't want to be responsible for creating that negative experience for anyone. I am so glad to Celebrate and contribute with everyone here. It is a safe place.

    4 Days out, FATIGUED/HICCUPS

Totally normal with the fatigue. I'm two weeks out as of today and I still fight the fatigue. I think the first three days I was home I slept a couple of hours at a time. Your body is recovering from major surgery and rest is best! Just take it easy. I haven't had hiccups yet (knock on word) but I do have issues with bloating and gas. I finally got some gas-x and take that twice a day and it helps some. Congrats on being on the losing side!! Keep us posted.
