  1. I'm about 3 weeks out of surgery and I've been doing well. Last night I had some chicken and rice.......and I must have either eaten too much or something got caught because PAIN LIKE NO OTHER. It is just a constant pain in my midsection and its been about 16 hours. I drank some Water and threw it back up. I've since had some tea and that went down fine. Has anyone overeaten and had this kind of reaction? How long did it last for you? Ow
  2. Had my surgery about 6 days ago. I have been living off of four things. Protein powder shakes, SlimFasts, chicken broth, and Water. I was told to wait 3 weeks after surgery to switch to mushies BUT I AM GOING TO EITHER GO MAD OR EAT THE CAT if I can't have something other then what I've been eating (er, drinking). What did you eat 1-2 weeks post-op? How long did you wait to switch to things like apple sauce and yogurt, and did it hurt when you did? Help please, I love my cat :smile2:

    Gonna die

Gilligan lives! But just barely The liquid yogurts were a GREAT idea. I don't want to cheat, so I'll stick to liquids. Although I'm not doing Clear Liquids only. After all...those Protein shakes are not clear liquids. ...caaat
  4. I'm 22 and I'm set up for surgery on this Friday. Freaking out a bit because I truly cannot stand hospitals but that's another story. Physically speaking there are changes that occur when you gain weight (I'm female btw so this is really directed only at other girls), your breasts get heavier, may or may not get stretch marks, etc. I was told by a few people that because I'm young, and my skin still has a lot of elasticity, that once I've lost the weight I won't be "saggy" or "droopy" but I'm kind of afraid that may not be true. I'm terrified I'll finish up the long road of losing 100+ pounds, only to start another extremely expensive road of reconstructive surgery to fix whatever my weight has done to me. I'm wondering what other girls around my age have experienced once they've lost the weight. Did things just get nice and normal looking with exercise? Did you need to get surgery? What's the scoop kids.
  5. I had my surgery on August 28th and I'm not going back to work until the 4th. I work at Starbucks and its a pretty fast paced environment. I can tell I would be okay to work at a desk but standing on my feet for 7 hours while serving spoiled customers definitely doesn't sound too good to me yet. :frown: And as said above the gas pains are really the worst.
  6. I just got my band, and my doctor put one of the incisions just under my belly button to hide it. But the other three are pretty noticeable. I was just wondering if anyone has found any good scar creams or ointments? I'm pale and I scar pretty easily.
  7. I was banded now 2 days ago and I'm feeling very nervous about my diet. I did put a call in to the nutritionist (before anybody responds with that) and I'm waiting for a callback. I bought a bottle of Water just to see how much I would go through, I've made it through half of it in two days. I've had the odd cup of thin broth, and I'm virtually living off of these Protein shakes (although these are not sugarfree so I shouldn't be drinking them). I don't feel hungry but I know I am barely eating anything at all. I am supposed to have 60-80 grams of Protein a day and I'm not sure how I can fit that much in my daily diet with the amount I am actually capable of eating. I'm also taking some Calcium pills, but I'm not sure if I can take the big multi-vitamins when I'm so recently banded. I don't know if they can get caught or anything. Any personal experience would be great. Need something while I wait for a callback.
  8. Surgery on the same day as well  The gas pains really are the worst part, what I've been doing is getting up every hour and a half and taking a walking lap around my apartment hallways. It hurts while I'm going but it feels better when I get back. And don't fight the burps! lol
  9. I got my band yesterday morning. I'll leave out the hospital details because they are pointless; needless to say I ended up in the bed with an IV before I was wheeled into surgery. When I woke up I could immediately feel where the port was, and it felt like I had an extreme tightness in my chest and shoulders, which was more uncomfortable than any pain in my midsection. I was taken into surgery at about 7:30 AM. It was approximately 2 hours, and I slept a long time in the hospital. I didn't leave until about 6 pm. The gas pain is much harder to deal with than the incisions or the actual stomach. They also had to deal with a hernia while I was under so I imagine that doesn't help either. I've been getting up and doing cute little walking laps around my apartment every two hours or so, it really helps the gas pains when you walk. Today I've had nothing but some protein shakes and water. Smaaaalllll sips at a time otherwise it hurts. I'm finding the Carnation breakfast powders to be really great (except they didn't have the sugar free ones at my store which could explain why they are so good). I have had to use pain medication two or three times, and I can't sleep laying down flat because it makes the gas pains hurt more. I'm going back to work in 4 days and I hope to be recovered enough to deal with Starbucks customers by then. Best of luck to anyone going in.
  10. I just had my surgery this morning. The cuts I can handle, the not-bending-over I can handle...this gas pain is nearly overwhelming. I tried to lay down and my shoulders felt like they were going to explode and it nearly brought me to tears. I feel like I can't find any comfortable position to be in, but walking DOES help temporarily. How long did this gas pain last for some of you?
  11. The lap-band process has been extremely fast for me. I considered getting one and two days later I had a consultation. I smoked for maybe 4 months for whatever stupid reason, and as soon as I found out about meeting the doctor I quit immediately. But now my surgery is scheduled for August 28th, and I'm getting blood work done on the 11th...I was unaware that they would be doing a nicotine test. Its only been a few days that I've not been smoking and now I'm starting to panic. I have no intention of smoking ever again, I was never addicted and it was no problem for me to stop. But I'm extremely anxious that this could interfere with a timely surgery. Any experiences or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
  12. Scheduled for August 28th with Dr. Michael Feiz. My 22nd birthday is on August 25th so no cake for me this year... :juggle: I'm pretty nervous ><
