I too have to wait for 6 months. I have to be on a 6 mos supervised diet along with all the other appointments and tests. Two months are gone now and it actually has been quite fast. I have time to do all the appointments and practice chewing chewing chewing! Good luck, it will be here before you (& I ) know it.

Just adding my two cents- I also have arthritis in my knees & need replacements. I got a recumbent bike like they use when you have PT. It is so easy on the back and knees. I put a book on tape in and plug in the earphones and the time flies. I got this one off Craig's list. It is a very good durable one that was originally over $1000, we got it for $200.00.

Interesting posts. I have my overnight in one week. I have been meaning to ask about it here. What type of clothes did you wear, did you take a sleeping pill prescribed by the pulmon. Dr., etc. I have to call to see what time I can check out. I know I have to check in at 9:00 P.M. Does it really take as long as they say to hook you all up to the electrodes?

Sue it's so good to hear of your progress. I am 59 and started my way toward the band, hopefully in the spring, just before I turn 60! I am so excited and at the same time nervous, so every message I can read with positive tones to it helps. keep up your good work.

Sounds like you are doing great Phyl. I too am facing knee replacement, but the ortho said it would be better for me to get banded first and lose some weight. My recovery would be easier he said. I won't be banded until spring, so have a ways to go. It sure sounds promising though to hear how well you are doing.

Great to hear about your surgery. I am excited to watch your progress while I wait for my band next spring. Keep posting, we all want to hear everything about it!

I went last month to the WLS info mtng. It was so thorough and I had learned (and still am) so much here that I didn't ask any questions. I'll be interested in seeing others answers to this, I most likely will learn more as I go on.

Hi Abigail. I am into the second month of a 6 month diet pre banding. Mine has to be supervised and I have to see a dietician twice during that time. My PCP just put me on a 2000 calorie daily diet, along with keeping a food diary. The dietician brought that down to about 1400-1600 calories daily, with emphasis on protein. I agree you better check for sure with your insurance. You don't want to do anything wrong to postpone your surgery. Good Luck
