I was never heavy until I got married at the age of 18. As soon as I got pregnant with my son (had him @ 19), I felt free to eat whatever I wanted; my sister-in-laws were encouragers of eating alot, and I didn't know any better. After my daughter was born (I was 22), I gained more weight. I have not been a "normal" weight for 20 years. My highest weight has been 251 pounds, November 2008. I just got the lap-band surgery on July 10, 2009, after 9 months of paperworks, labs, and required pre-op appoinments. I weighed at 246.5 on the day of the surgery, and I have lost about 13 pounds since then (today is 7/21/09). What is interesting is that I have been still been able to eat everything, including steak, chicken, carrots, and other things that people on this blog say they can't; all within less than two weeks of surgery! I'm wondering if I healed too fast, or passage is still big enough to eat this stuff. I don't get it. Again, I will have my first post-op appointment on July 23, 2009, so we'll see what happens!
