Well just figured I'd let you guys all know of my horrible luck....again. Well last night I was sitting in bed and all of sudden i was soaked all around my stomach so I looked and of course freaked out and called my mom's and had her come over. Well I had massive amounts of fluid all over, it was coming from my incision she cleaned it and covered it well and several times thru the night i had to put towels over it and this morning I went to the Dr and yup I have an infection he sent me to my LB surgeon Dr Kwon who is the best, I was in so much pain again. Dr Kwon had to cut me open right in the office with only a shot to numb the area and then he had to pack the now open wound with sterile packing and now I have to have this done every day. He is trying to get me a home health aide to come to my house so I dont have to go to the dr everyday because I might need it changed 2 times a day . I also am supposed to be going to florida for vacation on Oct 21st and he said I might not be able to go, but we will take it one day at a time. He said this can take weeks to heal. :* ( I feel like I am having the worst luck here, I was doing so good and then one thing after another I cant take anymore I hope this is all over soon.

Libra, the dress is very pretty, you'll look great in it by June. Hope we get to see some pics. Your chili sounds so good, but my Dr doesn't allow any beans :cry . I love beans especially kidney beans, he says way too many carbs.

Welcome Yasmina!! Well it is a scary process but is worth all of it. My insurance covered the whole thing I have Aetna, I know many people that had it completely covered by different insurance companies. I'm glad mine did, my insurance paid a little over $20,000 for the whole thing. Surgeon, hospital, anesthesiologist, everything. I could have never been able to afford it. I had the surgery August 9th and I'm very happy I did it. Good Luck to you!!

Thanks Pelorojo, yeah the past few months have been a bumpy road but hopefully soon will all get better. Thank you again

This is kinda off subject, but I dropped off my cousin at the airport today. He is headed to Wisconsin and then leaves for Iraq for 1 year on Friday. Today has been a very long and emotional day. His name is Manny and he is forced to leave behind his 3 year old son and his fiance' and a big family that loves him. Please keep him in your prayers I know you dont know me or him but he needs as many prayers as possible and I would GREATLY appreciate your prayers for him. Thanks

I just had to post my dinner that i made tonight. It came out really good. My Dr told me to try Spaghetti Squash since I can't eat pasta. So I did and I really liked it. I cut a spaghetti squash in half, removed the seeds, put it cut side down in a baking pan with 1/2 inch of water and baked it at 350 for 45 minutes. Then I cut a few cloves of garlic and put them in a saucepan with Ground Turkey until cooked with some Italian seasoning and a few other spices to taste, I added a jar of spaghetti sauce and let simmer. Then after the squash cooled down I scraped out the inside of the squash (it comes out in strands like spaghetti) and put it back in the baking dish and covered with the sauce mixture. I put it back in the oven for 20 minutes and it was done. It was a great meal, it tasted so good my mom even took half of it home with her for lunch tomorrow. I have had such a hard time finding new things to cook that I actually liked and this was a good one I'll definitley make it again.

Good goal Kutia You can do it!!!!!
-
Ok my goal for September was 15lbs. I was down to 34lb weight loss and at my last visit on September 28th I was down to 48.5lb weight loss. So by my Dr's scale I lost 14.5lbs in September, just half a pound shy of my goal but then on September 30th I weighed myself and lost another 1.5lbs but I really dont count it until it's on my Dr's scale. LOL My October goal will be to hit 60lb weight loss. I like setting my goal high something to reach for. Good Luck ABC on your October goals!!!

Yeah I'm happy to hear that! I havn't had a drink in awhile and I've had alot of bumps along the road since my band so I'm really looking forward to a much needed vacation. I know I'll want to sip on a few drinks poolside and can't wait to go out to the clubs. -

I have a question about drinking..... My Dr told me that I will not be able to drink like I used to at all he said you will get drunk ALOT quicker than before. I haven't had any alcohol since my band on August 8th but I'm going on vacation at the end of the month and me and my sister are planning on going out and I know I'll end up drinking but I'm wondering if I'm gonna be a light weight now LOL -
Thanks Jahair Yeah Im still pretty excited about it LOL I cant believe they fit. I have a question about flying. I am going to Florida in a few weeks and never thought flying would be a problem. But now all of a sudden everyone keeps asking if I am allowed to fly. It sounds like an odd question to me, but now I am curious so I figured I'd ask. Their arent any restrictions on flying after the band are their. Also another one I was wondering is about riding roller coasters and other rides. If anyone has any answers let me know LOL

August 2006 - Running totals and updates
pebulz replied to faybie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in Port Jervis NY by Dr Vinces and I'm down 48.5lbs -
I just had to share that last night I couldnt sleep was up until 7am. I had a migraine all day yesterday and all night last night. Well I decided to finally try on my favorite old jeans. I havent worn them in almost 6 years. They were my favorite "goin out" jeans So when I wore them back then they were really tight but thats how i liked them. Well I've tried them on occasionally and couldnt get them past my hips. So last night I decided to try them on and THEY FIT!!!! They were tight but not even as tight as they were when I bought and wore them all the time. I was so happy today I'm gonna pull out some other old favorites and try them on.

Thanks LosinIt for the advice I'm starting to feel better except today I have a migraine and it sucks. As for my mom's comment about the Ice Cream I don't mind it I told her before the surgery I wanted her to help push me and although it might not be what I want to hear sometimes I like that she is trying to help and sometimes it is what I need to hear. So I really think she's doing it for my best interest. She knows how bad I want to lose this weight and how hard I've tried in the past. So even though I dont always want to hear that I shouldnt eat certain things Im glad she reminds me at least it makes me think twice before I eat it and if its something I still want after thinking twice then I have it anyway LOL.
-
Wow Faybie what a difference You look great!!! I also dont see a change in myself but everyone else does and the weight is coming off from somewhere so I know it's working
-
Thanks Candy and Faybie!!! When I go back to tickerfactory I just change my weight it saves my ticker. So I put the new weight and click next and it gives me the new ticker.

Ok well again wanted to thank you all for your support. I'm feeling alot better. I found the Sudoko puzzle but couldnt figure out how to do it LOL I did do some old Cryptoquip puzzles from some old newspapers I like those alot. I went and had my staples removed and boy did it hurt, :cry nothing like the LB staples, the staples towards the top of my incision didnt hurt but when he got towards the bottom I felt like I was screaming so bad the other patients would have thought I was dying LOL. Well I'm still pretty sore but came home and took and nice hot shower. I also went to my Dr for the LB today and I lost 11.5lbs So my updated Weight Loss is 48.5lbs  YAY 1.5lbs and I'll be at 50lbs I cant wait.

Im on Phase 3 which is solids and I can substitute a shake for any meal if I want. I havent really been cooking because I had to have another surgery September 16th. I was banded August 9th and doing good but then they found a Tumor the size of a football on my ovary So 've been recooping. I did cook the other day in my crock pot. I put some boneless skinless chicken tenderloins, baby carrots, garlic, italian seasoning, a couple sprays of I Cant Believe its not butter Spray and some Adobo and water and It came out sooooo good. Today I went and got some groceries and bought a Spaghetti Squash I got some recipes for it.I was told to cut it in half and bake for 45 min in baking dish with some water and when its done you scrape out the inside which comes in strings like spaghetti then add some sauce and its supposed to taste like spaghetti. When I try it I'll let you know. I am going to Dr. Kwons tomorrow and am gonna try and get that cook book for some new ideas. Ill keep you posted.

Thanks everyone for the support. I am feeling alittle better today I even had my friend come pick me up and take me to the store to get some groceries. I got all the healthy stuff Im supposed to have and then I bought a little thing of Ice Cream a real little one like the Haggen Daaz size lol. So I came home and sat down with my ice cream took 5 bites and was more than satisfied. So I agree it cant be that bad. Hey it made me smile for a minute LOL :hungry: It felt really good to get out of my house and talk to some other people Plus I bumped into some people I havent seen in awhile and got some compliments on my weight loss :clap2: which definitely made me feel better about all this Well again thanks to all of you for your support. I go tomorrow to have my second set of staples removed YAY I cant wait and hope these are the last ones for along time. I also will get my new updated weight loss So I hope that its a good #.
