Doctors said that I didn't weigh enough today :(

"please don't be silly" I am deciding to seriously look past that comment.... but I will say to you that just because I'm not as overweight as you or the next person, doesn't mean that my problem isn't real to ME. Now, I have struggled with my weight since 1996 and believe me when I say, I know what it takes to lose weight. Why would you even say to me that this is not and easy fix? What did I say in my post that made you think that I may believe that this is an easy fix? I am a 37 year old woman, I know the risk of surgeries. I read about the risks and benefits just as you did, so I know that this procedure is meant to be use as a tool and that is how I intend to use it. I don't have a problem with losing weight, I have a problem with keeping it off; so I say that to say this, Like so many people on here, including yourself, I have a weakness when it comes to doing what's right when it comes to food. I like so many people on here, including yourself, am trying to get this problem under control. I feel that if you are on this site whether you are actually going through with the surgery or not, feel some urgency or is desperate to receive help. Sweetie, I'm not being silly, I am trying to have a little peace and happiness in my life after going through so much in my world. It's time to take care of me for once and that's what I intend to do. Keep working your ass off. We are all cheering you on and I am going to keep trying to have this surgery so that I can get MY situation to the point where I can handle it. Thanks for you response and take care.
  6. I am so pissed! I finally went in today for my initial visit and the doctors told me that I don't weigh enough! I am so sick of this! I really need to have my surgery before July so that I won't have to pay a deductible of $600! I know this sounds stupid, but is it possible to gain 30lbs in about a week or two weeks at the most? The doctors kept saying that they weren't telling me to go out and gain weight and that if I still wanted to have the surgery in the future to come back if my weight changes. He also said that if my weight was where it needed to be today that they could have had me schedule for surgery in the next couple of weeks! I just wonder, just how much weight can I gain in one week. My BMI is at 35, he said that it needed to be at 40. I don't really understand how they calculate BMI, but this is so depressing! What can I do guys to gain about 30lbs in the next week or so? Or should I just give up on trying to have this surgery submitted to my insurance company by July?

  10. Hello, My name is Mandie. I am from Roxboro, NC. I am 37 years old. I have a 15 year old daughter and I just got engaged Valentines Day of this year. I am 681/2 tall and weigh 236lbs. I turned in my application just yesterday to have the lap band surgery. I am so tired of struggling with this weight! It has been a constant struggle since the birth of my daughter in 1995. I pray that my insurance company will let me have this surgery. Is anybody familiar with Blue Cross/Blue Shields (Teachers and State Employees) Insurance? Are they going to make it hard for me to proceed with this surgery? Any experiences? I wish everyone the best of luck on this journey. Congratulations to you guys who have been through this and are enjoying the life that was meant for you to have.
  11. Hello,

  12. Help, I am 5ft 9 1/2 inches in height. I weigh 230lbs. I was told that I needed to weigh at least 240lbs in order to have the surgery done. Do any of you know of any doctor that will give me the surgery at my current weight. I want to be at 170 lbs. I am 60 lbs from my ideal weight but 10 lbs from the lapband. Please help!
  13. Thanks. But this makes me so sad to hear. I don't have a problem with loosing weight, my problem is with keeping it off. I just don't know what to do at this point.
