  1. Happy 50th Birthday we3601!

  2. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary we3601!

  3. Thanks everyone for your responses and suggestions. I didn't have any episodes after 2 a.m., and I am work today. Although my insides are very sore from all the "activity" of yesterday, I was able to drink 1/2 cup of tea. It took 2 hours and several reheats but it is staying down. Whew, I guess I found out I'm sensitive to these fills. I'll make sure the doctor makes a note of this so we do this nice and slow in the future. If I'm lucky, maybe this will end up being my sweet spot. That would be awesome!!!
  4. Well, I've made some comments on these forums how it doesn't even seem like I had the surgery. I've been able to eat pretty much what I want and the quantity didn't seem to matter either. My first fill was 12/7/09 and they put in 2.5 cc. Didn't do much. Today they added another 1 cc and within 15 minutes of leaving the hospital I was so tight and I was continuously puking/sliming. I left the hospital around 9:30 a.m. and my first noticeable reprieve was a 15 minute interval around 1:00 p.m. where I wasn't in some type of pain. The sliming continued throughout the day and continues now at 8:15 p.m. I did call and they really didn't want to do an unfill and asked me to hang in there until tomorrow morning to see how things are going. This is just awful -- I can't even keep a teeny sip of Water down. My downtime from the puking is at about 30 or so minutes. Don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight. Anybody else have such a "violent" episode after a fill? I'd love to hear from you just so I know I'm not alone. Also, any tips on how to handle this would be appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Hey Gems, I gotta tell you, you really know how to turn a crappy situation into a golden opportunity. Nice job. I can't help but admire the lengths you've gone to keep it a secret. I know others may get all self-righteous and judge but I have to say your story brought a smile to my face

    Mile Matchers!

This is so amazing how fast this great activity developed. Thanks, Ash for being so honest and asking for help and thanks to you Zo for the peptalk and great idea! You almost made me go out and rent a baby and a stroller I would also like to join so please count me in. I was going to also vote for the Walking with Warriors name because it fits so many on so many levels.

    Banded in october--updates please

Hey WI Jen, I am in the Township of Grafton but actually closer to Port Washington. We usually pack up the dogs in our truck and head into Port to walk the downtown area. I see your surgery is scheduled in a few weeks. My surgeon was Dr. Regan of Columbia-St. Mary's. He and his staff are just awesome! Best of luck to you!
  8. This has been a great thread and I'm glad everyone is doing what they feel is best for them. Btreiger, what a cute question! The word--how you say? -- "bikini" has never entered my vocabulary. I believe there is a picture of me in a two-piece swimming apparatus but I was around 10 years old. I'll be turning 47 in the next few weeks and although a bikini isn't in my near future. I kinda like the idea that it could be a possibility if I wanted it to be. I'll let you know about the scar conversation if I ever have to have it I loved hearing all the different perspectives on this subject -- Success to all of us!!!!
  9. Well, you can definitely add me to the None of Your Business Camp. Besides the medical staff, the only person that knows is my husband. I've read the other posts where people tried to keep it semi-secret and you have only confirmed my fears. Someone always "swears" someone else to secrecy and then it's common knowledge. I struggled with the decision as far as telling my two sons (18 & 23) but decided it might be information they may tell their girlfriends, friends by "accident," and then I'm in the same situation where people that I don't want knowing my business end up knowing. Unfortunately, WLS is judged by society and not in a positive light. I, myself, feel that I have taken a very, very extreme measure in the fight of obesity. I can't help but sometimes wish I had the "power" to lose weight with proper diet and exercise and not with the aid of a tool. I am an alcoholic in recovery and have been sober almost 2 years so this may just be part of my problem, too. Admitting my food addiction may be even harder than admitting my addiction to alcohol. I am new to this lapband process so perhaps in time, I will be able to share this news in the future. But for now -- mums the word. I also don't know how successful I am going to be so telling others about this extreme measure and then failing would be devastating. PS: I do sometimes remind my husband that he is the ONLY person who knows and that if it ever gets out, I'll know where to go "Soprano Style."

    Banded in october--updates please

Hey October Bandsters, Banded 10/19/09. Total weight loss as of yesterday is 32 pounds. Not much restriction after my first fill (2.5 in a 10 cc band). My second fill is scheduled for 1/5/10 so I'm hoping that helps me out. In the last 2 weeks I have started adding exercise to my routine. Today we walked the dogs in 15 degree windy WI weather and it felt great! Never thought I'd say that and mean it. Otherwise, I use my Wii Fit Plus and sometimes an elyptical machine. Food is still the enemy as I seem able to eat almost anything. Still praying for restriction! Hope all is well with my fellow bandsters and wishing you all a very healthy and happy 2010!!!
  11. Hey Val, thanks for sharing your journey. It really gives me hope. I just cannot imagine wearing a size 8 so congrats to you! I haven't been under 200 pounds in over 20+ years so the thought of wearing anything in that size range seems impossible. I would be ecstatic if I could just shop in a "regular" store. I'm pretty sure that goal can be met some day Hey Heather, I also include pre-op weight loss in my total. I don't bother separating the two like most people do because to me it's all part of the journey (plus, too many numbers to remember: weight loss pre-surgery, post-surgery, 1st fill, etc....) Just go with the total--that's all my pants care about anyway
  12. Hi HeatherR, I noticed our starting weights (me-259) and surgery dates (me-10/19/09) are pretty close. However, you have 4.8 cc's. Right now I have 2.5 cc's after one fill and am sad to say no restriction. I see you've already lost 40 pounds. Can you tell me when you started experiencing restriction. Right now I can eat just about anything and I know I'm still eating too fast. I am scheduled for my second fill on 1/5/10. I really hope it helps as I don't feel like I've been even banded at this point. I guess I'm just looking for some encouraging news. Thanks and congrats on your 40 pounds lost and gone forever!
  13. Lisa, looks like you've had fantastic results. Your pics are super inspiring. It's unbelievable to think you were only banded this past spring. Way to go!!!! Thanks for the post. I, too, have a 10 cc band. I've only had one fill with another one scheduled in early January. Not feeling any restriction at 2.5 cc. Hopefully fill #2 will do the trick.
  14. Forgot to post yesterday, down 2 this past week. It will be impossible to lose 9 pounds by Christmas Day but that's when I will do the final weigh in. Thanks, Jen!!!!!
  15. I, too, had no restriction after the first fill which was on 12/7/09. The only reason I think I went down another 1-2 pounds is because after the fill it was liquids for 2 days and then mushies for 2 days. My next fill is scheduled for 1/5/10. Fingers are crossed that this will do the trick.
