  1. Sorry for not posting yesterday. Everyone in my house is sick! Anyway, down 3 for the week. Thanks!!!!
  2. Hey jen, sounds to me like you not only have to deal with your new life decisions, you also have to deal with sabotage! If your husband is insecure and thinks you are going to leave, I would imagine that's why he's being so obvious in his attempts to sabotage your program. He really needs to figure out his own behavior -- Stay strong!!!! Remember everyone here is on your side

    Gross Cold Food

Hello, I went on amazon.com and there is a new plate that you microwave for 1 minute and it retains the heat so that your meal will stay hot. The sides of the plate are not heated so you can handle it straight out of the microwave. I believe the only place you can order this is on amazon. Put "hotsmart" in the search and you'll find it.
  4. Wow, sounds like you're doing great. My surgery was 10/19 and my doctor isn't doing my first fill until 12/10 (7 weeks out). I wish I had the "restriction" you have. Right now it seems like I can eat just about anything -- I take that back I found out the consequences of eating a turkey burger at my old pace. Sounds like you could be one of the lucky ones!!!!

    female issues

Yes, in fact I take the pill to control bleeding - 3 months on and 1 week off. I shouldn't have gotten my period for 2 months and just a few days after surgery, I started bleeding. I called the doctor's office to see if I should discontinue or continue taking the pill and they explained it was very common due to the trauma we put our bodies through and to continue taking the pill. Sure enough it wasn't like a "real" period and the bleeding ended after 4-5 days. I think things are back to normal
  6. Hi everyone, well today I had my first post-op visit with the surgeon. I have to wait 4 more weeks for my first fill. However, I would like to commit to the 20 pounds as I didn't really state what my goal would be. Great idea on posting our loss on Mondays and thanks Jen for taking care of all the results!!!
  7. Nice job!!! It takes alot of courage to work out amongst the beautiful people. I still have problems with that so I'm going to use your post as motivation. I've been sitting on my butt since I was banded on 10/19/09!!!! Thanks.
  8. Hi, I would like in also. I just don't know if 20 lbs is do-able. I have my first post-op visit with the surgeon tomorrow a.m. so I will have an official weigh in to start with. I was banded 10/19/09. It will be at least another 3 weeks before I get my first fill, but I think if I get my butt off the couch and start moving, I can do this! Thanks everyone for the motivation!!! Kind of nervous about weigh in tomorrow. I have purposely not stood on a scale since the day of my surgery!
  9. I was banded on 10/19 and debated whether or not to tell people. I decided to keep the list as small as possible. So, only my husband and the hospital staff know. I'm not even telling my sons (ages 23 & 18). I just wouldn't want them to slip up and tell their girlfriends and then they tell their moms and etc, etc.... I just didn't want any outside pressure from anyone and I have the most supportive husband in the world. He knows that if I want to talk about the procedure and it's results, I will and if I don't feel like talking, he'll patiently wait. I also didn't want the prying questions, unwanted judgments from others. Who knows? Maybe in a year or so, I'll be a lapband spokesperson but for now no one needs to know.
  10. Banded 10/19 - Back to work 10/26 (Desk job) I refuse to weigh myself until my 3 week checkup which will be 11/10. I've just read too many posts from people getting so frustrated with their results from pre to post surgery. So, I've decided to wait.

    Size 14? No way!

Hey gatorgal, I'm a graduate of the class of '81, too! Hard to believe how fast time flies. It's just good to know that there are great success stories out there and I can't wait to add mine to the list!
  12. Congrats to both of you. I haven't been under 200 for over 20 years. It's one of my major goals!!! Great job...

    Size 14? No way!

Way to go gatorgal!!! The last time I fit into a size 14 was in high school. I remember thinking I was sooo fat back then. Who knew the reality of it--I was athletic and fabulous..... I was banded on 10/19 and can only dream of being able to fit into a 14. I currently wear 22/24 pants. How long did it take? You should be sooo proud of yourself. I can't believe how big my smile is for you. I guess I'm just imagining what it would feel like!!!!
  14. Hey Oct Bandsters, I don't have a follow up appt until 11/9. I was banded on 10/19. Besides walking has anyone done any kind of exercise program? Biking, yoga, swimming??? Has anyone's doctor made any recommendations as to how long after surgery you should wait? Right now, I think things are a little too sore but not sure when I should give it a go...

    Pity Party

Oh, yeah, I've kept this a secret from everyone except my husband. So, if it gets out, I know exactly who to blame

    Pity Party

Hey Pity Party guests, glad to know we're not alone, eh? I was banded on 10/19 and I get to start mushies tomorrow. Can't wait -- might be the texture thing. I, too, was feeling like I have isolated myself to a life of sipping my meals and not enjoying food like I used to, but then again, that is how I got to this point. I really don't want my life to revolve around food any more! But holy crap, have you noticed how many commercials are about food? I can't wait to get back to work tomorrow and not just veg in front of the TV torturing myself watching the Food Channel. Hang in there everyone...I'm going to start adding a walking program to my routine. My dogs will love me for it!
  17. Hi 7373, Believe me if you made it through the pre-op diet, you'll have no problem with the post-op. I am 6 days out and what everyone says is true--get up and walk, sip, sip, sip water. Sugar free popsicles were great and I kinda had to force the protein drinks down. I found a couple things to snazz them up--I have a vanilla protein powder, add skim milk and then add coffee, peanut butter or frozen fruit and they're pretty yummy. I get to move on to mushies tomorrow and can't wait. Bottom line--don't give up now! You've come to far! Best of luck to you.
  18. Hey NJ, I know what you mean. I, too, am very irritable. My band date is 10/19 so 3 more days of the pre-op and then back to liquids for post-op. Some day we'll look back on this knowing it was all worth it. The worst part of the 2 week pre-op is the constant belly ache. I could only get rid of it when some creamy broth hit the spot. I just figure it's because I've never let myself get hungry before  Thanks for the updates after surgery Guy & 09. Keep 'em coming!
  19. Hey Chickychoo, So sorry to hear about your horrible start on this torturous liquid diet. I have to say I'm quite annoyed that there are so many variations of these pre-op diets. Of course, I had to have a doc that doesn't have Lean Cuisines on the menu. I see we are band sisters. My surgery is set for 10/19 @ 2:30 p.m., not sure if I'll be spending the night or if they'll send me home. Best of luck to you and hang in there!
  20. redbone, no offense, but you look great....I can't believe a doctor will even consider banding you. I see the fights alot of these people go through to get approved and end up having to self pay. I see you are a self pay also probably because you're great the way you are and insurance would never consider covering the procedure. Sorry, I was just shocked when I saw your "before" pic. I can only hope my after looks that good  I hope you find what you're looking for.
  21. Thanks for the great post, Timmers. That's exactly what I needed to read. I'm just over one week into this pre-op liquid diet and can't stand it. I have a stomach ache all the time. At least the headaches stopped! Sometimes I think that this is just sooo extreme. Why can't I just eat healthy foods in healthy portions and exercise? Well, I've come too far to turn back and in all reality I don't want to turn back. I'm banking that the weight loss is going to far outweigh these last minute doubts. Tina, my pre-op diet is very similar to Nooshie's. Length of time is two weeks prior to surgery. They've recommended these awful tasting Protein bars also to eat 3 times a day. I've never managed more than 2 Good luck to all October Bandsters -- 10/19 is B day for me!
  22. Hey caseyb, you asked about others' pre-op diets. Mine is a 2 week liquid diet. Protein shakes, broths, tea, and all the water I can drink I'm amazed at how different all the pre-op diets are. Some have no pre-op diet while I've seen others post 3 month diets. You'd think there would be a more uniform way to do this. My band date is 10/19--Bring it on!
  23. I agree, this is extremely hard. I can't shake this headache. I started my pre op diet on Monday. Surgery on 10/19. Constantly feels like I have a stomach ache and I was very gaggy this morning while brushing my teeth. This is probably all because I never let myself get hungry before. All new sensations but I'm sick of the shakes -- that's for sure! I'm also too scared to weigh myself -- I'm waiting until I weigh in prior to surgery.
  24. Hey Angelcake, We're band sisters...my date is 10/19 also. I started the 2 week liquid diet on 10/5. Not enjoying it at all, but it's what the doc ordered. What kind of prep are you involved in?
  25. Hi momof3, My surgery date is also on 10/19 @ 2:00. Can't wait! However, I, too am getting worried about this liquid diet that starts on Monday. All I know is if I miss a meal currently, I get a headache and very cranky. I sure hope that's not the case for the next two weeks. Good luck to both of us!
