Saw the surgeon yesterday; asked if I had any questions. I laughed. Seriously - no. After seeing my internist, the cardiologist, the pulminalogist, the psychologist, the nutritionist, the dietitian, and attending two "Learning to Live" sessions - dealing with stress; eating patterns, . . . I sincerely didn't have any questions. So we shook hands and agreed we'd see each other next Friday - July 31st for surgery.
I did tell him that I didn't like that he recently changed his protocols. He had a puzzled look on his face so I told him that two friends of mine had him as a surgeon in Dec 08. Their pre-surgery diet consisted of protein shakes replacing one meal daily for the two weeks prior. Since then he changed things so that now patients are on a full liqued diet two weeks prior to surgery. He smiled and said that yeah - things changed but it's all with the goal for a better / easier outcome. Can't argue with that!
Of course there is an upside - I've alredy lost 11 pounds!
