How long on liquid diet only?

I was on full liquids for three weeks, but only on clear for three days. that is a long time for clear, are you sure it is strickly clear?
  2. Hey there just checking in to see how you doing these days, I am on some solids but still soft foods.

  3. Hey there just checking in to see how you have been. Hope all is well

  4. I can't believe it has been a month already, I am eating some solid foods at this time but every once in a while I have to go back to eating softer foods. I haven't lost anymore since the first two weeks of surgery but I haven't gained any either, still two more weeks till I can get a fill. I can't wait.

  5. I was banded August 15th, still on mushies, I have been doing ok, I have minimal restriction where I feel full faster, but I am able to eat close to two cups of food at a time but I am having a hard time eating all of my meals, and keeping up with my busy schedule, school started and I am now back to work and it is a little hard. I have eaten chicken breast, and a couple of fries, but mostly mashed potatoes, and soft foods. but still way under the 1200 calories I should be eating a day.
  6. Erin, do you know if you had a fill during your surgery, I would ask, because maybe if you did that is why you feel so bad, I remember you had issues with nausea after the surgery... :eek:Call the doctor and make a list of all of your concerns they are obligated to help you as you are still considered post op, follow-up. But this is major surgery even it you only have a few holes to show for it, you have to give your body a chance to heal, and with that it will go through many things you may have never experienced before, you will feel like yourself again:thumbup: It doesn't last long, but it will take some time.

    "stuck" feeling in throat

I had that feeling too my first week, it was the swelling, it just takes time to go down. if you are really concerned I would just call the dr's office just to be sure.

    who is starting mushies??

I started mushies two days ago, and I feel ya Karen, I was so nervous about being able to eat one egg. I waited like 30 minutes before I took a sip of Water. I am still on mostly liquids and I have been eating mushies like one meal a day, I am really struggling with being back to work, and making sure I eat enough protien, and drink enough liquids. I did notice that I can eat about a cup of food and be sastified for three to four hours. so far I have had, homemade mash potato's and homemade beef gravy, lake trout fish with the skin pulled off, cottage cheese and SF Jello, and scambled eggs. the rest of the day it is mostly my Soups oh and I have had applesauce. For now there is no way I can make it to 1200 calories, getting in 600 is a struggle.

    I feel like crap ):

You could be coming down with a cold, I would call your doctor to see especially since you were doing well prior.

Infection is gone but still leaking!

I am happy for you as well, I started mushies two days ago, and it is the best... But I did get one of those headaches from eating too much the first, had my blended Soup. My mushie stage is also soft foods, so I can have fish, pureed chicken, tuna fish, soft scrambled eggs and cottage cheese which helps with the protien intake as well. I still have that lump but it is no pain or anything, I see the surgeon Moday I cannot wait.
  11. Hi, I was banded August 5th, I can't believe it is 17 days already, I started mushies two days ago, but I am finding it hard to get out of the liquid stage, I found I had a headache from eating all of the food the first two days. My first week was a little rough, I could walk around fine, and that helped with the gas but the left shoulder pain was horrible. now I only get once in a while. I find it hard to get in 50 grams of protien with the fluid requirements too. I lost 18 pounds in the first 12 days but nothing since I know I need to increase the calories so I plan to talk to my nutritionist about what I can do to increase both my protien and calories. other than that I am back to work part time and trying to balance eating right and working.

I can see why people cheat....

Bacon, my husband was fixing it for the children the other day and I swear it whispered "come on you chew me to mush... I know you want me" while I was sitting downstairs. and I almost went upstairs but I had some sugar free jello and sat down and ate that instead... but yeah I can't wait till the non-solid food stage is over just went to mushies two days ago.

    I feel like crap ):

I am glad you are feeling better, it is scary when you feel sick like without warning. Even though it may melt in your mouth it must have clumped up going down your stoma, I notice that when I eat I can almost feel it filling up my esophagus and then I feel full. You should still be on mushies add some salt and pepper to your cottage cheese if you want that salty taste, or have the chedder and mash potato mix, that helped cure my craving for my favorite chedder potato chips. When do you go back to school, since I teach I go back on Monday and the kids don't come back till 27th.
  14. Feeling much better not at 100% maybe more 95% I won't get there till I can eat real food, but mushies taste better than liquids and protien powder. I go back to teaching on Monday.

    scale question...

I didn't have a pre-op diet and stayed about the same weight up to surgery, which was 8/5 but then I dropped 18 pounds the first 13 days and now I have been the same every weight since, even though I have been walking more each day. I start mushies tonight, so I don't expect to lose anymore weight till my first fill which is mid September and wouldn't be surprised if I gain some but I don't know. Everyone who has some time on us say be patient it will happen.

  18. It is now day 10 for me and the shoulder pain in minimal, gas pain is gone as long as I walk right after I drink, I finally burped like a big dog, and went #2 twice this week, Oh it really doesn't take much.... I went fishing with my dad today and worked yesterday, Oh still no food but can finally drink more than 6 oz of Water at a time.... Oh it doesn't take much:thumbup::biggrin:
  19. Yeah, I know what you mean, I teach high school and am off in the summer and I don't have a lot of people I hang out with. But I know as soon as I get back to work in a two weeks I will be so busy I wouldn't be thinking about how much I weigh or food I can't eat, all I will know is that my clothes will start to fit looser and looser and that is something to look forward to. You are doing great, keep up the good work... and Yes you will get there before you know it.

Your 1st goal and reward !!

my first goal is to get under 200lbs, and my reward is the Wii Active game to compliment my Wii Fit game. The other reward is an increased libido.

OMG!!!! I Finally feel like me...

Thanks, I was feeling so blue the other day because I was in pain, I felt thirsty, and I was expecting my dad to come over to take my son fishing and how much I wanted to go but I didn't feel too hot. then I woke up and only had shoulder pain once, I stayed awake and survived going fishing with little discomfort. I am use to major knee pain but no tylenol not tired at the end of the day it hit me I am back... So happy... So yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel and this morning I still feel good, little shoulder pain here and there but much better than last week or even the begining of this week...
  22. No, you are not being over-sensitive as they were defintely being insensitive they know what you are going over. even hubby says they should have eaten that food before they got there. and you went through all that trouble to get food for them, I hope they realize how insenstive that was for you... Some people don't get it.
  23. Erin, you need to get with your support group via your surgeon, that way they can help you find someone close to your age range or at least your goal. The other thing is that you have to remember you just had surgery, and your body will rebel and hold on to weight if you push too hard too fast. Please honey, take it slow... I know the minds of the youth is to get things done yesterday but you have got to give yourself time. This band is not a quick fix, and I know you know that, sometimes people who don't rest enough will hold on to weight, as that has happened to me, it not just food intake. Believe me if you follow this you will reach your goal in no time...

    Hernia discovered during surgery!

I had the same thing happen to me, but I didn't do any test to see if it was there prior, The only symptoms I would have is an occasional heart burn that would be so slight that I never paid any attention to it, I am just glad they found it as a friend of mine's father who was of older age, died two weeks after having his repaired after suffering years of this and never knowing the cause...

What kind of soups are you guys eating ??

I made a big pot of my version of the Olive Gardens "Zuppa Tuscani soup which is sausage, potato, spinach and cream, after I cooked I saved some in the frezzer for mushie stage and blended the rest after a day of sitting and it was very thin and good... then I have had Green Bean juice from fresh made greenbeans seasoned with Smoked Pork Neck bones, as well as black eye peas soup with the peas strained out. and homemade egg drop soup which has a good egg protien in it. Other than that canned chicken broth 50% less sodium turned out to be okay and Jello, My instructions were clear liquids for the first four days and full liquids to include Jello, pudding and Yogurt, but I am still feel rather full off of most of my clear liquids and protien shakes no sense of hunger till yesterday and even that is short lived...
