  4. Are you sure it is not Ketosis? This happens when you diet too much and the body starts to basically "eat itself" I lost weight too quickly and when I went to see dietitian after my band she said she could smell my breath ( which was quite embarrassing) and that I was in a state of ketosis and needed to eat more calories.

    Scale Obsession

Yes I am obsessed. Weighing myself first thing in the morning, straight after a pee always gets the lowest reading for me. I even have a app on my iphone to record my daily weight. (I told you I was obsessed) I'm not sure I want to get past it to be honest. I am at goal now so want to make sure I do no start to gain. Sometimes I do gain slightly after being naughty and eating some junk so will then make a extra effort for the next few days to get it back off.
  6. GUYS, I hope you all don't mind my jumping into this thread because I am not a 2010 bander. However, I was banded in September 2009 and am now 120lbs down. I just wanted to post this because I know you will alll be looking forward to losing the weight. It has changed my life and is the best thing I ever did. Good luck in the coming year. Stay strong and enjoy all the new confidence you will develop. This is the start of your new life:smile2::smile2:

    Port: Where's yours?

Mine is right in the front of my chest about a foot above my belly button. The only time it causes a problem is if I try to sleep on my stomach

    Carbonation!!!!!!!!!!!

I drink Soda and beer without any problems what-so-ever. My Hospital group in the UK say it is fine and the only thing I have to worry about is the calories in the beer. They have outcomes that equal the best 5 star hospitals in the USA and publish their results annually. I got banded a year ago today !!!! I have lost 120lbs and feel like I have died and been reborn. I am a completly different person. I still eat and drink everything I did before my operation but just in smaller quantities now. I will have a can of diet coke a day, and a few beers with the guys after work once a week. I used to drink beer each day. I suppose I may be lucky and drinking soda may hurt some bandsters but this myth about stretching the band is just that in my opinion..... A myth.
  9. I now limit myself to 1 diet coke a day and have not had any problems since getting banded in Sept 09. Same with the beer, I used to drink it everynight but now limit myself to 5-6 bottles of Buds once a week when out for a meal with the DW or game of pool with the guys from work. I know this will horrify a lot of banders who have been warned by thier doctors to avoid it. However, the team that carries out my surgery allows it, and told me that so long as I don't consume any more and limit the beer to once a week I will be fine. They are more worried about the calories in the beer than the gas and bubbles . I am not trying to get anyone to go against the advice of their doctors which I believe they should always follow, but I think that for me, missing out on these treats for the rest of my life would have been one sacrifice too far.
  10. This program caused a revolution when he did a version here in the UK. It had such a effect that the Prime Minister was forced to meet him at downing street to talk his ideas and demands through. It just grew and grew and politians from all political parties we forced to jump on board and back his demands. School meals were completely changed throughout the UK. Out went the high fat processed garbage and it came healthy meal replacments. Now there has since been a back-lash, some kids used to burger, pizza and fries refused to stay for meals and their reck-less parents blamed the schools for not providing what the kids want. Generally though it has been a great success. I hope it has the same effect in the US.

    Where's your port?!

Mine is 1 inch above the xyphoid process right smack in the middle.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Well its day 3 now and I still have restriction and I am loving it. I am a 2 year weight loss program with my hospital and have regular monthly appointments booked for the next 18 months so any fine tuning can be made. Jachut- Its good to hear that your last fill and restriction has lasted 2 years. I hope to be at that stage by the end of my program. Thats to say, just maintaining my weight loss long term. Its really strange being full on so little food. I just cannot get used to it yet. I suppose it will take some time.
  13. Had my 4th fill on Thursday taking me to 6cl in a 10 cl band. I seem to have great restriction and can really notice the difference. I could only eat a small amount of food tonight and left most of the plate full of food. I had this restriction briefly 2 fills back but it disappeared after 2 days so I put it down to swelling. How long does it take to know if this restriction will be permanent? Thanks
  14. It could be Gallbladder problem like a previous poster has mentioned. This is happened to me. I had pains like you described and a scan revealed gallstones and a damaged gallbladder. I have to have this removed next month. This is a common problem following lapband surgery. Like all these things, we will just be guessing in giving our opinion though and it will need a proper medical examination to get a correct diagnosis. As a side issue, I wouldn't dream of lecturing people from the states on politics, but I am just so glad here in the UK that I dont have to worry about having to pay for medical care and it is free at the point of delivery. I have been in and out of hospital so many times over the last year and worrying about paying for it on top of my illness would have been too much to bear. Hope everything works out fine for you.
  15. Thanks for sharing the video, you are a inspiration and so beautiful. Sometimes in life we have to make tough choices and it looks like you had to make one of the toughest in order to start the healing process. Well done and good luck.
