BJean: The only issue we have is the fact that he isn't seeing the kids as he promised them. We have tried to be civil to each other, it is back to that again now that his girlfriend is out of town again. The kids are reassured everyday that they are loved by both of us. I do not talk bad about their dad, I reassure them that he is going to be there when he can. We talked yesterday and agreed that he needed to pick certain days of the week that we can put on the calendar that he was going to pick them up from school and take them to his house for dinner. I also told him on his every other weekend he is going to have to take the kids and figure out a babysitter for them when he goes to work. He agreed that they needed the stability and is going to pick them up tonight and talk to them about the best days to see them during the week. He is also going to be helping out with softball and t-ball. I am hoping that he doesn't go back on the agreement. He knows that I won't and don't talk about him behind his back to the kids and he knows why I feel the way I do. I am just hoping that the next time his girlfriend comes into town, he thinks of his kids and at least comes to spend a couple of hours with them in the time that she is in town and doesn't make them feel like he forgot about them again. (This is all I ask of him) I am pretty leniant on how it all works out. I don't want to see my kids hurt and that is my main issue. I think he understands that now.

Tami: Thank you. BJean:I know he will come around eventually. I am just getting frustrated about all the broken promises to my girls. If he isn't going to do it, don't say it.

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?

Since my 3rd fill I had on the 11th, I lost 6 pounds and can't wait to see what the scale says on Wednesday this week. I am only able to eat very small amounts of food now. My girls are looking at me like I am crazy. I cut up a half a chicken breast and barely get a 1/4 of it in and some bites of veggies before I am done, even then I might have to run to the bathroom. I know I have hit that "sweet spot" everyone talks about on my other site. I do sometimes get frustrated with it because mentally, I think I need more, but can't fit anymore. I have to get on the phone or do something in order to occupy my time. I don't like the emotional eating part of it all. I really struggle with it. I have been banded for 6 months now and I have a harder time with it after this fill, than any other. I think it is the problem of seeing the amount on such a small plate and then not being able to eat the amount on there. I have been trying to excercise instead of eat. I think this is working. -
I haven't even thought about an online message board for divorce. Thanks for the tip. I tried to leave with an open policy, but he isn't taking advantage of it. I am not the type of person that wants an every other weekend father. I want my kids to be able to call up their dad and say they want to see him and have him there or for him to call and say he wants to see them. This first month worked out all right. The emotional eating started this weekend. I had to stop and tell myself and tell myself why I was doing it, why it was happening and what I was going to do about it. I put in my Walk Away the Pounds video and did that instead. I really wasn't expecting it. I think all of the emotions going on right now with my children were affecting me. It is hard to have to call him and have him talk to them to get them to calm down. The reason they are acting out is because he hasn't called or seen them since Thursday and before that they were seeing him every other day. We will make it, though.I know we will. I just have to find more things to occupy their time. Thanks for listening.

BJean: Thank you for your very inspirational words. I take everything in life and learn from it. I am trying to keep myself in neutral place for my kids. I love them and don't want to see them hurt. I am young and some days it hurts, but I know I am longing for something that we couldn't have together for many years. High school sweethearts have a statistically 92% chance of divorce also. I heard that on Oprah, lol. I am going through all the ups and downs, but I know that it is for the best of myself, him, and our children.

When talking with my doctor he said that the larger women lose a lot faster than the smaller ones, he didn't know why, but they do. I lose on average of 10 pounds a month. I am happy with that. I can see that the elasticity in my skin seems to bounce as I go. I am hoping I won't need the plastic surgery when I am done losing the weight. I had a starting BMI of 57, I think, I am now down 12 points in my BMI. I am in the middle of moving and going up and down the stairs carrying things is definately making sure I am getting my excercise this week. I am exhausted. I am moving little by little after work. -
BJean: You are quite welcome. I have been going through quite a journey...as I was making my decision and getting the ball rolling about 9 or 10 months ago to get the Lapband done my husband starting saying things to me. "You are going to lose your weight and leave me." I started to think to myself about if I was in love or not and if he was in love with me. We have been together since I was 15. Well, this last month we made the decision to divorce. It isn't bitter, but I am moving into my own apartment right now and he is moving into his own. We are trying to stay friends, as we always have been. Lately though, he has been saying that he was right. I heard the statistics on people losing their weight and leaving is about 62%. Have any of you heard anything on that?

Hi all! I haven't posted in quite a while. I have been busy, busy, busy. I just can't believe how much more I go out and do now that I have lost 72 pounds. It feels greats. I hope all is well with you also. -
On another group that I belong to they were talking about the same thing and that Acidophilus supplements or milk help with chocolate cravings, they said they didn't know how, but it was a suggestion from a doctor and it worked. I hope this helps

Hi everyone. It has been a long time since I have posted here. I was banded in September 2006 and to date I have lost a total of 72 pounds. I am a lot happier with myself. The only thing I dread is buying clothes as I do not like shopping. I am one to grab and go with out trying on. It was so much easier when I wore jeans and t's. I wear nicer shirts and jeans and I sometimes even wear a slack. I care about how I look now. I hope all is well with all of you and I hope to be posting more here again.

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I have checked in, I have been kind of ill. I hope you all are doing well. I lost 10 pounds over the last week. I am so happy, yet it is from being sick. I hope you all have a great weekend. Erin

BJean: I also am on Smartbandsters.......the ARNP that does all of our education is on there. She has been banded. They say 1 hour and if you really need it a half an hour is ok. I couldn't imagine having to wait 2 hours!! I hope that helps. MOM: 0 pounds lost this week.

WOW! Congratulations! What a wonderful NSV!! -
I still get hungry every 2 hours too. I just had to learn the self control. I don't drink until an hour after my meals. I try hard. I hope that your fill works out for you. In my office we can get fills as many times as needed. I hope you can too.
-
On my 2nd fill I was so tight that I kept PBing, but after the swelling went down about 3 days later I was fine. I sometimes get so hungry I forget to chew and end up doing it all over again, but I am at my sweet spot. I am so happy for you, 4 pounds is a lot to lose! Erin

I am checking in for weigh in and this week I lost 3 pounds! I have even been out to eat, but I am making good choices when I go. The worst thing I have gotten on the run is a Wendy's chili. I need that fiber, lol.
-
Another great thing, my BMI is down 6 points. I was 57 and just recalculated at 51.

In reading your posts, I have also seen a pattern. I had my first fill and had a some restriction and lost 5 pounds the first week, the 2nd I gained it all back and the third I was right back in again. I have 4.5 cc's in my VG band. I have the restriction I want now. I won't ever get a fill on a holiday weekend again, though. I thought I was going to have to call for an emergency unfill. I was PBing everything I ate, no matter how small. By the time Monday came I was perfect. I can eat can of tuna and 3 bites of veggies and I am so full. I know I have to get that protein in there, so I try and finish the can and stop eating veggies. I am just over a week out and have lost 4 pounds already. I am so happy. For the first time in many years I am under 300 pounds. 297!!!! It all works out in the end as long as we stay on top of it.
-
MOM- my weigh-in for the week is 297. I am so excited. Second fill on Wednesday of last week and already 4 pounds down.

I am so happy.....I did my weigh in and I am under 300 for the first time in so many years. 297.2. What a victory!! -
Well, ladies. Like I said the other day.....I had my 2nd fill on Wednesday. I have PB'd and slimed a lot of things. I did fine on the turkey the first time around, but the second was not such a great achievment because I didn't have any gravy on it. I should know not to eat meat that isn't prepared by me. I know if I cook it, it will not get over cooked. I have figured out that I can hold down the PB if I try really hard and concentrate. I can't stand vomiting, even if it isn't an actual vomit. I am going to try and stick with my 3 oz can of tuna and peas today. I found the most wonderful thing, they are little cups of veggies, just like the fruit cups. I bought several of each, except for the corn. I am not chancing that.
-
Well, I had a good Thanksgiving, but PB'd on the turkey. I ate leg meat and must have taken a bigger bite than I thought. I am still feeling a bit of pain, but other than that ok. I hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving!! Erin

Haven't been able to check in in a while. I still at 301. After my first fill I lost 5 the first week, gained 3 the next and minus 3 this week. It is frustrating. I had a 2nd fill today. I am not feeling well. I am nauseus. I have not vomited, but I am nauseus. I don't know if this is normal and of course this doesn't start until after the office is closed for the night and for the next 4 days. I am going to wait and see how I am tomorrow and if I am not better by friday I will call the office. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everybody. Erin

Hey all, been a while since I have posted. I just wanted you all to know that one week out after my first fill, I lost 5 pounds!! The self control is the key. We all have to learn it, one day we might get our fills removed and then be hungry again. -
MOM!!!! I have lost 5 pounds this week!! I had my first fill last week and BOOM!!!! it is dropping fast. I am so excited! Can you tell? LOL
