I have had shouder pain since being banded in 2004, it is the band pressing on a nerve that shoots to ure diaphram causing pain. i know of someone who had their band removed as they cldnt take the pain any longer only to find even witht he band removed the pain was still there as the nerve damage was already done,,, i find myn is worse if i over eat or feel bloated, hopefully ures will only be gas and will go away, but i find its not a huge price to pay for the weight loss i have acheived...

I had surgery in 2004 and still get bad shoulder pain, at first we thought it was gas but it is damage dont to the diaphram which happens during surgery, a vein is pinched around the stomach muscle which shoots pain to the diaphram, someone who posted on here had her band removed because of the severity of the pain only the pain didnt go away even after removal as the damage was already done, my pain has lessened over time but is still there, especially after a meal or when bloated, a small price some of us have to pay, but ure still early days and hopefully it is only gas for u...

Just over 5 years for me, other than 2 overfills (recent one was last weekend when i was rushed to hospital for an emergency defill) but no other problems ,,, touch wood ... I spoke to my Doctor last week about slipped or defective bands and if its not causing you any pain you will wait about 8 weeks (if in pain its done straight away) for the old one to be removed and while u are under u are replaced with a new one then and there...i asked because i was also concerned about losing my band for a lengthy period of time ...

Im from Australia, been living in the UK for the past 5 years... My sister was banded in Tasmania, Australia in the year 2000, she was the third person to be banded...

I was banded in July 2004, starting weight was 106 kilograms and now down to 70 kilogram, went dowm to 67 kg but have given up the cigarettes and have gained a little, went in for a refill last week and will hopefully be at my goal of 65 kg in the next 6 weeks.... Since being banded I have had a baby which set me back a little as i was too lazy to go and get a refill , finally did that and looking forward to reaching my goal :biggrin:
