I have always been overweight. I remember as a child being teased by other children and being called Ms. Piggy. That has scared me to this day. I have tried lots of different diet fads and may have lost 10 pounds but quickly gained it back. Never seeing a signifigant change caused me to become frustrated and give up. While I was pregnant I lost 28 pounds and was very excited. However, post-partum depression caused me to turn to food once again for comfort. I gained the 28 pounds back and approximately 30 more pounds. Now that my daughter is growing up, I want to be a possitive role model for her. I want to be able to run and play sports with her. I don't want her to have to endure the same teasing that I did. I want so much more for my daughter that I am willing to do whatever is necessary. My husband is also extremely overweight and is going through the same process. We decided that we both wanted to be positive influences on our daughter. We also felt that doing this together would enable us to have a constant support system. Eventhough we are both newly post-op we are able to lean on each other. We both know how the other is feeling. This process has already made us stonger as husband and wife. I feel like that can only benefit our daughter and our family. We are very excited for the future. My husband and I both have a much brighter outlook for the future thanks to Lap-Band.
