  1. After my 2nd fill in September I can no longer eat chicken. After a bit of time, you may be able to eat it again.
  2. Do they have you taking antibiotics for a week after surgery? Many antibiotics cause diarrhea.

    Whats happening ?

There is no way a BIG MAC is a slider food for me. I couldn't even take 2 bites without being in pain. French fries are also not a slider. They make me throw up instantly. Your situation sounds strange to me. I would also question where your restriction went ... does kinda sound like the fluid has gone someplace. Call your surgeon and get it checked out. In the mean time, stay away from fast food places. That could really get you in trouble.

    Baaaaaaaaaaad breath!

If your bad breath is from a systemic cause even good oral hygiene won't help it go away totally. Make sure the mints you use are sugar free so as not to feed the bacteria. They love sugar and will make the problem worse. Brush your tongue. Use mouthwash that cuts down on the bacteria count. Scope does not. Liserine is a good one, but should not be over used as the high alchol content can give you drymouth. Make sure you get your teeth cleaned every 6 months. People with periodontal disease have very bad breath. So best prevent that. Like I said before, if the cause of the bad breath is systemic, you need to treat the cause. Sometimes people with chronic sinus infections have very bad breath and it will not go away until they get the sinus issues solved. Once your body gets used to your new diet things should clear up.
  5. The key is to learn when to stop eating before the uncomfortable/pain feeling. It takes awhile to learn it. It could be just one tiny bite difference.

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell ?

President Obama's decision to seek the repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy prohibiting gays from serving openly in the military and has appointed a "high-level working group" to figure out how to do it. What do you all think??? Personally, I can not believe our president is even spending any time on this issue right now. Our country is in very bad shape with much more pressing issues! I have no problem with gay people and I do understand this could be an important issue for them personally, but come on! This counrty is going down the toilet and every minute of the president's time should be spent on more pressing issues.
  7. I agree with this. I had it happen with a different procedure. It happened in the first week though. You should at least have your Dr. look at it ASAP.
  8. I wish someone would have told me the truth about hairloss/ thinning hair. I don't even remember where I heard it, but before my surgery I was under the impression that only bypass patients lost hair. Knowing the fact that many lapband patients have this problem wouldn't have changed the outcome for me, but I would have been more mentally prepared. I have very thin, baby fine, straight hair, so hair loss was probably inevitable for me. I just wish someone would have told me. I went to a support group recently. There was a gal who has not been banded yet that asked the question about hair loss. The woman who was running the group said, "that only happens with bypass patients, not the lapband." Then all of us that have been banded said, "I lost hair." On a more positive note, I wish someone would have told me how easy this weightloss would be! I have lost 70 lbs in less than 7 months and have really put in very little effort! It is the easiest "diet" I have ever been on! I also wish I would have known years ago that I could have had the surgery with a lower BMI.

    Primary Doctor Clearance????

I did not have to go through my PCP. I went straight to the lap-band surgeon. A few years ago I did bring up my weight to my PCP and he told me to go to weight watchers and that it was working well for his wife.

how do i make emails stop

I just go to user CP, it shows a few subscribed threads, then go to the bottom of the list and click on view all subscribed threads. You can check the box and scroll down to the part where you can choose delete subscription. (selected threads)
  11. This really sounds like fraud on the part of the surgeon or the hospital and stupidity or something on the part of the insurance company. No wonder health insurance costs are so high. My surgery (lapband + hiatial hernia repair), anesth., consult, follow up, fills for 3 months, NUT, ........ all came to $9,995. (self-pay) Why in the world would yours be over $75,000 ?! fraud

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell ?

I don't care what promises he made last year. There is more important business to attend to today.....not who is gay and if they should keep it secret.

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell ?

I have no idea if there is "additional" cost. I am upset about the "original" cost. I am paying them and they are wasting time that I pay them on an unimportant issue. I will have to pay them anyway. I understand that, but the least they could do is spend the time I pay for on something more productive.

    silly me

I don't count calories. If you have good restriction, counting calories is pointless. I do stay away from high cal. foods, but count nothing.

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell ?

Who is paying these people to investigate?

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell ?

They need to SOLVE the most important problems before they spend any time on gay issues. If they spend 15 mins. on unimportant issues it is a waste of my taxes. They could have spent that time on better things.

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell ?

I personally do not care if the guy is gay or not. I personally work very hard and pay a great deal in taxes to pay congress over inflated salaries. They are wasting money on this issue. The guy knew the rules that are in place. I am not saying the rules are right or wrong. He could have waited it out awhile while more important issues were delt with if he really wanted to stay in the military. I don't care where he got his training. Maybe he was sick and tired of going to Iraq. I don't care what his reason was for coming out on T.V. was. There are guys coming back from Iraq who are commiting murder and abusing their wives and children. That is more important than some guy being gay. There are families becoming homeless every day. That is more important.

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell ?

When our country is in such bad shape, I think it is a waste of my hard earned tax $$ to spend even one thin dime on this issue. I understand that more than one issue can be dealt with at a time, but there are hundreds of more important issues that should be higher on the list. Did these gay translators say they were gay and then got kicked out of the military? Were they really gay or did they just find an easy way out? Even the military has more important issues than this one.

    puncture during fill?

It sure sounds like a leak to me. You should call the surgeon's office and have them check it out.

    Monkey on my back

The monkey will probably always be there. You ( I ) just have to smack him and give him a little attitude adjustment. Maybe the band could be like a collar around the monkeys little neck to promote more control of his little monkey butt. I find that my thoughts about food are changing with time. I never had a severe addiction or obcession with food, but I feel more like the saying "I no longer live to eat, I eat to live." Food just no longer holds as much importance. There are other things in life that are taking over that place in my mind. These thinge are still sometimes weight related, but the thoughts are more in a positive direction. Instead of thinking, "oh man, I feel so fat today," I think, "hey, maybe I can zip that pair of jeans this week."

This is great news! I am happy for you. It won't be long now. That pre-op diet doesn't sound fun, but you can do it. Just look how far you have come already!
