I eat broccoli often. I add cut up broccoli to cheese soup.

Great news ! well, except for the problem at the other end. I know this may sound a little strange, but sugar free life savers are a great laxative.

Have I Fallen Off the Face of The Earth?!
Humming Bird replied to RavenClaw779's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would still go out to eat and be social. I just order soup. Maybe they don't ask you to go because you keep turning them down? -
The weight watchers info is sure worth a try. I would try everything in every form you can dig up. I would also appeal if you get turned down the first time. If all else fails, you could do self pay like I had to. It's a bummer to make payments, but I got banded.

Do you still have a re-fill for antibiotics at the pharmacy from that last infection? It would be worth a call to the pharmacy. -
do they go down easier than meat? I may have to try them.

Lay down to feel because the location does feel different when standing. Mine is located just below and to the left of my largest incision. It is pretty much in the center of my torso, and a little left, about 2 inches below my sternum.

Call your dentist in the morning first thing and get a liquid Rx. I don't think the cildren's motrin will help enough. I'm glad if it does, but I know there is nothing like the pain of a toothache. (I see patients with them daily) Ask for something that is not an NSAID. You can also try cold or heat on your jaw in the area.

These are the things that make me think kidney infection. It is how I felt when I had one. I think urinary tract infection has burning when you pee. My son had kidney stones at a very young age and I have been around other people when they have kidney stones. The pain from those puts you down on the floor and is so intense you throw up very fast. The people around you call 911 it is so bad. I don't think the symptoms are spread out over days like yours. You do need to see a Dr. Do you have a job? Could you get the money from someone else for an office visit? -
When in doubt there are signs to let you know

It is taking drastic measures, but sometimes drastic measures need to be taken. I for one am happy I took the leap. -
I don't know what to do....
Humming Bird replied to lotsacurls66066's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That seems very strange to me. You mean they say you are too overweight to get banded? Are they trying to tell you to get gastric by-pass? -
what is the cause of your toothache? wisdom teeth? A few NSAIDS will not cause you big trouble. It is those who take them on a regular basis that would be a problem. If it is an infection or abcess antibiotics will do the trick. Your dentist or oral surgeon can give you an Rx for something that will help until your appointment. ASK FOR LIQUID FORM of RX.

I am no Dr either, but it sounds very much like a kidney infection to me. Cranberry juice helps, but you need antibiotics if it is a kidney infection. -
How much liquid Tylenol
Humming Bird replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They do have OTC adult strength Tylenol and the dosage is on the bottle. It has a dose cup on the lid. -
Don't know where this is taking me but I am along for the ride
Humming Bird commented on btrieger's blog entry in The Bitter Bandster
You could just ask in a very polite tone if they could recomend a good surgeon in the area. I've used that approach in other situations and it works quite well. That one question seems to get very quick results. -
Altitude, extra restricution and a big jump down!!
Humming Bird replied to shelley2b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live at 8,500 ft and one of my jobs is at 9,500ft. My band is normally pretty tight. I went to Indiana this past weekend and the band didn't seem as tight as usual. Now that I am back home in the rockies, I am back to being tight. I would say the skiing also helped with that drop in weight. It's a good thing! -
Where does your weight come off first and last?
Humming Bird replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The boobs go first, the butt & thighs go last. -
Things I can/do eat : yogurt, cottage cheese, salad (not iceberg) , Soup, chili, oatmeal, cream of wheat, Protein shakes, Protein Bars (if they aren't too dense), vegies, Starbucks skinny lattes, ........ I'm sure there is more, but these are what come to mind.

I have no problem with asparagus if it is well cooked. Everyone's list will be very different. My list is very long when I compare to other bandsters. I can not eat and avoid: Steak, roast (pork & beef), almost all meats really, eggs, bread of any kind, french fries, most chicken, Pasta, rice, potato chips, corn chips, all types of pizza.......... I am sure there are many more, but those are what come to mind

Any news on a new date or new hospital. (or maybe even a new surgeon) It's really a shame they couldn't at least follow through with the surgeries they already had booked. -

Fills - Is the Band Working?
Humming Bird replied to Sluggo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It also depends on how much they are putting in at each fill. Some docs only put in a tiny bit, like .5 at each fill. I only had 2 fills to get to very tight restriction and they had added some at the time of surgery. It depends on the size of your band and your anatomy. Many other bandsters have the same size band that I do and feel no restriction with my current fill level. For me, if they even added one more drop, I would be back on liquids forever. My stomach wall tissue that is inside the band may be thicker than others. They also include some fat under/inside where the band is to reduce the risk of erosion. Your next fill just may do the trick. -
You will see a new Daris if he makes it to the "make-over" stage. I think he will look very different. He seems like such a cute kid.
