My left shoulder pain lasted for a very long time. Even though it is a trick your nerves are playing on you (pressure on the phrenic nerve) I found that equate brand menthol pain patches from walmart help a great deal. They are only $3.98. I would just put one on the tip of my shoulder in the evening and leave it on all night. It sounds like you are doing great and have a good attitude

I am so sorry to hear what happened to your friend. I do understand the desparation and wanting to be banded. I also understand the cost factors as I was self pay too. I am glad that she found a Dr. there in TX to help her. I hope he will reposition the band so she can continue her dream.

I'm glad you talked to your SIL about it. It sounds like things will get better.

They have protein chips at whole foods markets. I have not tried them though. My pre-op diet was like yours. Atkins..... no carbs......it seemed much easier than the liquid pre-ops. Beef jerky, as much meat as you want.

When I post in a thread I am not trying to insult or offend anyone. Sometimes I may just have a different point of view. Personally, I find it helpful to read different opnions and try not to get insulted if they are different than my own. Elfie and I have agreed and disagreed on several topics. We have laughed at each other's jokes. If we were all the same the world would be very bland. Look at it this way and use this thread as an example. All the different opnions in a thread make me think. Am I being a food diva? Am I asking too much of the poeple around me? Is my husband a total jerk for bringing wings in the house? We all may have different feelings about all of it. I did not try to say anything insulting or out of line.

What a beautiful little girl! It's too bad that someone is already messing with her head at such a young age about being overweight. Isn't this how they say some eating disorders start?

It would be nice if all Dr.s and surgeons were good with follow ups in serious situations like lapband surgery. But let's face it, bedside manner is not their specialty. You could have the best surgeon in the field and the best hospital staff, but they may not be too good at the personal side.

I am a stomach sleeper too and found the pillows to be very helpful. It does get much better. Hang in there.

Thanks, good article. I wish it would give me the "jump start", but since I've lived at high altitude for a long time it won't jump start me. Colorado is the fittest state and the article suggests there may be a link to the altitude, but I still managed to be obese in CO. Ah well, I'm fixing it.

I don't snack between meals very often because then I can't eat my meal. My meals sure do seem more like a "snack" than a "meal" though.

I did the math and used the Harris Benedict Equation . Even with the lowest amount of little or no exercise and 1000 calories (I eat less) , it shows I should be dropping at least a pound every 3 or so days. The last couple weeks have been at a standstill. I think my body is doing some hoarding.

I agree. I have been a yo-yo since the 5th grade. I probably screwed things up that way. I also probably have hormone issues.

I agree with you Liz. At the tiny bit of calories I eat I should be dropping weight at a much faster rate. I do believe that women's bodies are much better at storing fat and hanging on to it. That may also explain the fact that there are more women in need of WLS than men. Men also do not get the pleasure of pregnancy weight. (I can't use the pregnancy one as an excuse though. My baby is 27 years old )
