banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

Does EVERYBODY Vomit?
Humming Bird replied to jebeccar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vomiting is not "normal" with the band. If someone is throwing up all the time, something is wrong. Maybe too tight, eating too fast, not chewing.......... Vomiting can also cause the band to slip. I have heard some people talk about it like it is normal and they just live with it. This could be very harmful. Ok, here's my dental hygiene background speaking. I hear about so many people who throw up a lot and then blame the band for dental problems. Even if what you are throwing up doesn't seem acidic, it is. Once it has been in your digestive system and it comes back up it is full of acid. The enamel on your teeth will erode when it is in contact with this acid so often. The best way to avoid this is to stop the cause of throwing up. This may mean a tiny unfill. I usually tell patients I see to rinse with baking soda and Water after throwing up. This will help neutralize the acid. It will not stop the damage, but will decrease it. Once the acid hits the teeth, a 20 minute acid attack begins. Brushing your teeth does not help this. -

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL, I was trying to find a nice way to say how guys don't grow up as fast, but you did it for me. (my son is 27, soon to be 28) -
Is it too tight?
Humming Bird replied to Retta1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the above poster. It just doesn't sound right with all the throwing up. You could do some damage to your esophagus and teeth. I hope it isn't a slip. You should go back to your lapband doc. -
Erin, One thing that motivates me is getting in to smaller clothes and it sounds like that will work for you too. I find some jeans or an outfit from my closet that are just a little too tight to wear in public or that I can almost zip. I hang those out where I can see them and try them on once a week. It's something simple, but it stays in the back of my mind through the week when I make food choices. I want to zip those jeans by next weekend.

Goodbye 400s.....I now weigh 398!! (progress pic uploaded)

It sure is working for you! -
Great attitude Chris! I agree, it does help to get out of the house a little bit. At this stage, if you go to see a movie take a protein shake or something like that with you.

I don't check in much with the freedom fighters, but guess I really should. I was banded 7-9-09 I feel pretty good about my progress so far. The weightloss slows down sometimes, but I keep on keepin' on. It would be nice if I could reach my goal by july 2010.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really does sound like you are at a good sweet spot. Maybe stick with it awhile longer and not mess with a good thing. I am happy your daughter is going to get banded. If she needs it, doing it at her age would be great! There are now 4 of us in my close family that have had WLS and a couple more who need it. Our family dinners may be very different now. -

Is this where I offer you cheese? (kidding) Just think, It will only get better now each day. You were in good shape from all your efforts pre-op, so I think that will help you feel better sooner post-op. -

Hi all, I'm just feeling pretty tired and worn out today. My cousin is having lapband surgery today! She should be in recovery by now..... waiting for a call. That makes 4 of us now! (3-banded, 1-bypass) I am so excited for her. I know she will do well with it. -
Fistula or fistulae? anyone plzz help?
Humming Bird replied to NouraShuman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I should have been a little more clear with my response. I get my information from my education and many years of experience in the dental field. I see fistulas from abcesses often. The hole or tunnel is caused by the infection/pus choosing the easiest route of release. It can even go through bone. These types of infection can be very painful and are usually treated with antibiotics along with whatever treatment is needed to resolve the original cause. -
Anyone have face treatment for wrinkles/sun damage?
Humming Bird posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm not sure about the best place to post this, so cosmetic/reconsturctive surgery it is. Has anyone had any type of treatment on their face to get rid of or minimize sun damage spots and/or wrinkles? Laser treatment? chemical peel? ............... If so, did it work? Does it hurt? Do you have to hide for a week? -
Fistula or fistulae? anyone plzz help?
Humming Bird replied to NouraShuman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A fistula is a place where pus is being released from infection. It is an abcess. Did they put you on antibiotics? -
Why do sweets go down so easy?
Humming Bird replied to 2bhealthyn40s's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It figures doesn't it? The things we shouldn't have go down easy. Frustrating sometimes. That just shows that nothing is perfect. -

I don't have a Wii, but this post makes me want to go get one! Does the game have you actually dancing? I think I would like that.
