Wow, Anne and Dittie, It's good news from both of you. Great to hear! -
I have been doing some reading, and it leads me to another question?
Humming Bird replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been banded for almost a year now and I have not had this problem. It seems like bandsters have more problems with constipation than with dumping. I solved this problem by eating a vitafusion fiber gummie daily (from Target). -

Lost Morivation! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Humming Bird replied to mila86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not about how little food you can eat or whether you have the ability to potentially overeat. Yes, that is exactly why I got banded. That is exactly what it's about. The whole point of the band, for me anyway, is so I can not overeat. If I had to rely on willpower there would be no point in going through surgery. If you have your band so tight that you never have the ability to eat any more (or anything) than you absolutely should, then you likely are too calorie restricted. Your body will adjust to a starvation level calorie intake by crashing your metabolism. Too tight is a different story. I would never tell someone to get so many fills they would be too tight. Brad -

Every surgeon is different and requires different things. Mine was about the easiest I've heard so far. I went in for a consult with the surgeon. We agreed I needed the band. I paid $10,000. (financed through HealthOne) I had no pre-op testing or classes. I went on Atkins's diet for a couple weeks. I had lapband surgery. I've had a few fills. I've lost 95 lbs. so far. -

After good restriction I stay far far away from bread, toasted or not. I can do a few reduced fat wheat thins on a good day. -

If you can eat more than you should and even if you can eat some of the things that most bansters have trouble eating, you need a fill. -
Humm is it considered cheating???
Humming Bird replied to pocketsfullofsunshine125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People with a personal trainer have an advantage. People who take diet pills have an advantage. People who have a gym membership have an advantage. Men have more muscle mass and lose weight faster than women ... that is an advantage. The list could go on and on. For me personally, there will be no contests and no compairing myself to others to "win". I have not worked hard to take off 95 pounds. Just by getting banded has been at least 75% of what I've done. Does that mean I would have an advantage over someone who got banded and is working hard at it? Who cares? All I care about is my own method and that the weight has and is still coming off. -

I don't think it's "cheating". I think it is just your personal method of weightloss. -

Men, gotta love em ......... For the most part I have the most wonderful husband in the world. I have been with him for over 23 years and married 18 years. He is generally good to me, supported my choice to get banded, we don't fight, and I am still very much in love with him. In general, I think we are living as close to "happily ever after" as we can get. BUT .............. I have lost 44 pounds and he has not said a word or made any indication that he sees any difference. He has not asked how much I've lost...... nothing I'm not really pissed about it, though it does bother me a little. Maybe he doesn't know what to say? Who knows ...... I am going to wait it out and see just how many pounds it takes before he says something.

Hi Mike! and welcome to the thread! It will be nice to have another guy on board. Just jump in any time you feel like it. Wow, that is great weightloss and a great attitude! I am so happy for you. -
I've seen this question come up many times here at LBT. IMHO I think it is a bad idea to get an unfill just for a vacation of any sort. The band is a lifetime commitment. I think it is better to accept the commitment every day if you are at home, have a special event, or have a fantastic vacation planned. I also understand that some Dr.s (the good ones anyway) will not do this for you. I agree with bt.

BIG NSV! I had to share! I just hit the mother load of jeans I had stashed away in a drawer! I was going through the closet and tried on a pair of jeans I got off e-bay a couple months ago. I wanted to see how long before I could zip them ...... they fit! They are size 13 cruel girl jeans. I thought I might have a couple size 13s stashed away someplace. I started looking through drawers and found several drawers full of my all time fav brand (Rockies), but they were all size 11. Then I hit the drawer of size 13s! Rockies! They are in the washer right now! whoo hooo! -

Ah yes, the peace and stars..... The fresh smell of pines. That is all why I put up with so much snow. When it starts snowing I think it is so beautiful, but I do get tired of it by the end of winter (before that really). It is amazing how my stress level went down when I moved to the mountains. I have to drive to a fairly big city to work 3 days a week and another very tiny mountain town one day a week, but I can feel the stress lifting on my way home. We have 1 acre of land, but it seems much larger because all our neighbors have 1-5 acres and there are no fences. We live on a hillside that is covered pretty thick in pine and aspen trees. Our road is red dirt, so my car is never clean. Along the road that leads to ours there is a very large ranch that has several ponds. It is just so beautiful. There are flat areas on the ranch, but hills with pines as well. Sometimes in the mornings the water in the ponds will be so calm it seems like glass. Sometimes there will be a fine mist of fog hanging over the ponds and woven in the valleys. On 3 sides of our land there are cabins where people only come a couple times a year and the rest of the time they just sit there all quite and empty. We can't see 2 of the cabins from our house. The little cabin that is the closest is a tiny "A Frame" and it really blends in with the trees well.

I could not even drink my protein shake on the way to work today. I couldn't drink or eat anything. Even sips of water gave me that stuck feeling. I was so weak from not really eating since Friday I called the surgeon's office and they got me in this afternoon. He thinks I must have ate something that caused some irritation and swelling. He took out .8cc and I will go back in a couple weeks to get some put back in. The drive to Denver and back sucked, but I had to get it taken care of. My BP was 90/65 this morning. I guess I should take it now and see what it is. -

Thanks for the info. I tried the search and it came up with no matches within 500 miles. I'm sure there must be some, but they are not a member of ASBPS.
