banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Dave, If you have never felt the full feeling that people talk about why did you stop at 3 fills? Maybe you needed 4? It sounds like you are not getting the best from your band. When was the last time you went to your lapband doc? I can't help you with the insurance thing as I have not had insurance for several years and had to work hard and pay cash for surgery. The republicans and the dems are both doing a good job at messing up my dreams as well, but that kind of talk will work out much better for you in the "rants and raves" forums here on LBT. With the info you gave my tip for you would be to go back to your band Dr. and get a fill so you can use the band the way it is intended. Maybe it would help if you started over with a review of the types of food you should be eating for weightloss. I know I tend to slip back to the high cal foods easily. -
I don't remember ..... month 8 maybe?

I lost maybe 40% of my hair and was freaked out by it too. I started taking biotin well before the hairloss started.... I don't think it helped. When the hairloss started I tried everything, and I do mean everything. I took multi vits., nioxin vits., biotin, B-12, silica, used nioxin shampoo & conditioner, even rogain. Nothing helped. Thank goodness the hair started growing back in.

Highest include Pregnancy Weight???
Humming Bird replied to vega1star's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think pregnancy weight should be counted as a highest weight. The day I had my son I weighed 160. I went 2 weeks past my due date (1982) My highest weight was 264 (2009) Today I weigh 162. Still 2 pounds over the weight I was at 9 1/2 months pregnant. go figure! -

too little food
Humming Bird replied to Awkward customer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a learning process to figure out what works for you. I take adult Centrum chewable vits. daily. I can not eat eggs at all, so if you can I think it is a good sign that you will be able to mix up your diet a bit. Try the canned chicken usually found near the canned tuna at the store. It doesn't get stuck so bad. I add it to things like soup. Try some chili. It works well for many bandsters. It is very much a texture thing for me. I do try to keep my protein up because I lost so much hair, but some days it is not realistic to get in as much as many try to insist on. -
Advice/help - please!
Humming Bird replied to cmj19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are able to stay hydrated I say ride it out a bit longer. After I reached my sweet spot I was very tight for 2 weeks then things went well. -
That is great news! I am so happy for you. Thanks for posting so we can all see it can be done! 100% ! Now go buy yourself something!

So on a scale of 1-10...
Humming Bird replied to Day's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I woke up from surgery I had some pain, but they told me to stop tensing up. I realized I was tense in my stomach area. When I relaxed it was much better. Then they told me they normally flood the area with Lidocaine, but they didn't on me because I am allergic to Septocaine. I told them before surgery I can have any other 'caine' just not septo, but they opted not to use any. Considering I also had Hiatal Hernia repair, the pain was not bad at all. I took the liquid vicodin that first night, but then remembered I don't like vicodin so didn't take any more. The left shoulder pain from phrenic nerve pressure lasted for months, so I voted 3 in the poll. -

Leigha, You go girl! A race like that would just kill me. Denise, I am so sorry you are going through so much with your mouth. I hope it all starts healing faster now. Christie, maybe just a tiny fill? Creep back up to that sweet spot very slow. Elfie, so glad you are back and posting. Stacie, Did you make up your mind about the direction you will go with school? Bob, Make sure you let us know all the details of the PS. Hi to all  -

Ok lets talk sleeping
Humming Bird replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say sleep in the position that gives you the best comfort and sleep. You are not going to hurt your band or anything by sleeping. I am a stomach sleeper and could not sleep in my normal position for about a week because it didn't feel good, but after that I was back to my normal position. -

Hi all, I read this thread daily, but sometimes just have nothing to say. I am pretty much just coasting along with the band. I did have a hurling in the bushes episode last Sunday. I was taking my grandson home after having him for the weekend. We went out to eat before we took him home. I had some very yummy Soup at Chilis. When I walked in my son's kitchen he was cooking some crab & cream cheese won tons. He had found a new recipe and wanted me to try one. I told him I didn't know if my stomach could handle it and said, " cut one in half for me." I ate the 1/2 won ton and chewed very well. It tasted very good.....yum. We got about a block down the road and the sternum pain began.:scared2: I tried to burp, but things just kept getting worse. Those 2 bites put me over my full level. I thought I was going to have to pull over on this dark winding mountain road and let my husband drive. About a mile from the house the pain was so bad my eyes started to tear up. I thought I could make it home and run to the bathroom and throw up. Well, I didn't make it. I had to pull over 2 streets away from mine and hurl. Bummer, there went my dinner and everything. I felt great after that and figured I should have just pulled over and got it over with about 30 mins. earlier. After reading all the posts about people missing Pasta I tried some spaghetti squash last night. I remembered I liked it when I was a kid. I don't miss pasta becasuse I never really ate it that much. It tasted good and my stomach did well with it. I could easily use it as pasta. I put some in little containers for the freezer. Next time I make sphegetti for my husband and grandson I will heat up the spaghetti squash and try it with some sauce. -
Great Job! Now you need to go try on jeans!

I agree with elcee. You need to go see your lapband Dr. ASAP. I think you need to tell them how bad things are when you call so they will get you in right away. -

I think I look older. My skin is no longer plumped up with fat. Other people have not said I look older and I hope they don't.

It may be ketosis. There are many threads here about it. Try a bad breath search here.

How to properly take medication after surgery
Humming Bird replied to NC Dave's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for posting this Dave. I'm glad you are doing better now. I was informed by my surgeon about not swallowing pills and since surgery over a year ago I have only taken liquid, chewable, or crushed and disolved forms. I do not take any Rx meds, but feel for those who have to.
