Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others
Humming Bird replied to btrieger's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
great post :puke: Well done Boston. -
I would hope that her surgeon will educate her and her parents about the lifestyle changes after the band, what she needs to do for the rest of her life, what is involved with aftercare with the surgeon, the risks, the benifits.... As a friend, you should just be supportive.

What foods get stuck in your band?
Humming Bird replied to use-to-be-cute's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can't avoid everything that other Bandsters have trouble with. All you can do is be aware of the most common types of food we might have trouble with (meat, bread...) and try tiny bites to see what works for you. My stomach is very sensitive, so you might not have trouble with the foods I get stuck on. -
Your bitching and moaning is not only hurting you, you're hurting others
Humming Bird replied to btrieger's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I get tired of the bitching and moaning too. I still love the site and pop in pretty much daily. I figure maybe people aren't getting enough attention at home and need to whine here a little. Maybe these are just people who whine, bitch and moan about everything in their life and it has become the norm for them .... who knows. I get tired of all the "tool" talk and the talk about how this is the hardest thing someone has ever done in their life. I figure they have not lived much life at all if they think this is so hard. I think it has been pretty easy, but I try not to flame those who make it harder on themselves. just my 2 cents worth. -
Sorry, I'm not in the UK. I just post and reply everywhere here at LBT. I have really enjoyed talking with bandsters all over the world.

Finally UNDER 200 pounds!!!!!
Humming Bird replied to jllybean1982's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome to Onederland! Keep up the great work! -
If your BMI is 40 or higher it should not matter if you have other health conditions. If a PCP is required I would find a different one. Check out going straight to the surgeon. It is all worth checking.

Creative way to buy new clothes!!
Humming Bird replied to Beachbunny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really lucked out because I have been a clothes hoarder. I just go closet shopping! Now I am to the point where I might need to buy a couple things, but for the most part I have been having fun fitting back in those things I grew out of. This weekend I am ironing and getting my big clothes ready to take to the plus size consignment shop. No hoarding the fat lady clothes! -
I would not go to another country to have anything done. That is just my personal thought about it. If something goes very wrong there is nothing you can do about it. I was self-pay and went to Denver to have my surgery. I am very happy with my surgeon and my results. www.lapbandrockies.com ($9,950)

Horror Stories
Humming Bird replied to tabatha lynn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, the Stories are not true or the people don't know enough detail to gossip about it. As for the stories about people who are as big as they ever were, the gossiper doesn't know if the patient ever got fills and such. I can only tell you my own experience. I had no surgery complications. I feel great. I lost 100 pounds in the first year. I was much closer to health related complications being morbidly obese. My self esteem was in the gutter being morbidly obese. Getting banded was the best thing I have ever done for myself. -
laparoscopic versus incision procedure--which did you have?
Humming Bird replied to SPARKLES10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doesn't the "lap" in lapband stand for laproscopic? laproscopic gastric banding. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

Help! Strange, persistent headache 10 months later
Humming Bird replied to katphill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should go see your PCP doc. After we get banded I think we automatically relate everything to the band. We tend to forget that we could have other health issues that have nothing to do with our band. -
tired of being over weight
Humming Bird replied to tlc2010's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am glad you are doing something about it. Are you getting the band? Welcome to LBT. There is great support and info here. Stick around, read, post, learn....... -

Humming Bird replied to iluvmyband&itluvsme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you like your original Doc. you should make the drive. I drive that far for fills and feel like it is well worth it to stay with the one who I like. think about it..... -

Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
elcee, I hope they get your BP figured out. Whooo Hooo on having a great time with no weight gain! Stacie, OMG! I would be crying too. It's hard to say when I'm not walking in your shoes, but I think I would tell them to put in a new band and make sure they stitch it in place well so it doesn't slip. Hugs to you. I hope you get it figured out. -

Too tight for liquids, can't see surgeon until Monday?
Humming Bird replied to TXAmy07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the update. I'm glad you are doing better. -
Port: Where's yours?
Humming Bird replied to Fluffy_Gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is just below and slightly to the left of my sternum. I am very happy with the location. After 103 lbs lost I can not see the port sticking out when I am naked. I am a stomach sleeper and have no problem with that either. I think I would have a problem with the lower port placements because of different pants waistbands. I think normally the surgeon chooses the location depending on their own surgical methods. -
Too tight for liquids, can't see surgeon until Monday?
Humming Bird replied to TXAmy07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since you were able to drink after the fill , it sounds like you have some swelling. Ice makes swelling go down. I would only try ice cold liquids and maybe even an ice pack high and to the left on your belly. I agree, they should have seen you Friday when you called in with trouble. I would bring that up when you finally do get in. -
what city and state are you from and what occupation
Humming Bird replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live in Woodland Park Colorado. It's a small town in the mountains just NW of Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak. I love living in the woods! I am a Dental Hygienist. -

Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have bears, mountain lions, bobcats, fox, deer, elk, bighorn sheep, skunks...... I am in the woods up in the rockies. -
I would think 13 fills should have been a red flag to the doc long before #13.

Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A bear got in the trash before the trashman came, so I had to hike up the driveway and all the front hill picking up trash. This counts as exercise in my book. I think I have a pic of the driveway someplace from when we were building. We're on a sort of steep hill.
