Hubby's Attempt At Assistance! :-)
Humming Bird replied to Cocoabean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL....too funny! Through this journey we have to keep a sense of humor for some of the situations we find ourselves in. It sounds like the hubs is onboard and supports you in all ways. Remember he is laughing *with* you. LOL......thanks for sharing. I keep a barf bag from the last flight I took in my glovebox ...... just in case I ever need it. I have a couple family members that get a kick out of it. -
Vetran Bandsters ( Question For You )
Humming Bird replied to MsDuran's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I say both. When I am at my sweet spot I get full/satisfied on a small amount and I don't get hungry again for several hours. -

Bad, Negative Attitude
Humming Bird replied to Sara75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sara, I agree with what everyone else has told you. What a great place here at LBT ..... great support. It sounds like you have entered "Bandster Hell" a little earlier than I did. Bandster hell can mess with your emotions as well. You have to "diet" through that stage, but it was the last time I ever had to diet. Keep your eye on the prize and follow the rules. A year from now you will be posting how skinny you are! -
LOL, yea.... man boobs ...... I wish you the best with the loss!
-
Too funny!
-
Yes, it's a bummer when the boobs go. Just buy one bra at a time when you are in the weightloss phase and don't spend a lot of money. You can always get the more expensive ones when you reach goal. I went from saggy "C"s when I was thinner to saggy "DD"s when I was morbidly obese. Now I'm back to the saggy "C's. I can accept that. It's worth it to go from the size 22 and 24 jeans to the size 10s!

I think it's pretty normal. Maybe she has the feeling she has to make up for lost time or something. Imagine feeling bad about yourself and fat all your life and then , BAM, weight is off and esteem is new! Be happy for your friend and tell her in a nice and understanding way if she goes over the top too much.

Things Moving Through Slowly. Too Tight?

I say you are in the green........ follow the basics and roll with it. -
Found A Way To Eat Around The Band
Humming Bird replied to Spacegirl37's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know, it's a bummer that some of the things we shouldn't eat end up being the things that are the easiest. Chips and salsa really aren't that bad. There are worse things. When I have good restriction I can only eat a few and it's nice to be able to stop with just a few. If you are able to eat more than a few, you may not be in the green zone. Corn chips are a solid in my book. -
Shopping In My Closet
Humming Bird replied to auntielle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I loved closet shopping when I was in the weightloss phase!!! It feels so great to fit in those smaller things I had grown out of. Here's a tip: Try things on often. Don't just hold them up and think they will not fit. Your brain sometimes has not caught up with the size changes. Like elcee, some things were too big by the time I tried them. I shrunk right past that size and didn't get to wear some things I had been looking forward to. -
I think going to talk with a professional would be worth it. They may have some very good ideas that will make things better for both husband and wife. Kuddos to you for staying with the relationship. Many men would have strayed by now. There are so many things that make a good relationship that do not have anything to do with sex, but you two do need to have a sexlife while you can. There may be a couple very simple things that will get things in a better place for both of you....... go see someone who can help.

It's those little NSVs that help us stay on track sometimes. The little twinge of success makes it all worthwhile.

What's The Main Reason Why Some Peoples Bands Slip?
Humming Bird replied to litl1997's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The reason I have heard the most is vomiting. I would guess another reason would be if it was anchored in place properly. -
I don't bother with any of it. For me, It makes the process much harder than it needs to be. I have no idea how many calories I eat. Of course I eat much less than I used to because I dropped 100 pounds in a year.

Considering Dr. John Weaver In Colorado For Lap Band Surgery
Humming Bird replied to purplelady's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
good to hear ..... I need to call and set up a maint. fill. Ugh...... hungry too much lately -
Yes, there are many LB surgeons in CO. Springs, and some very good ones from what I hear. I went to Denver because I was self-pay and a surgeon was offering much lower prices. I went to my consult with him and we really clicked, so Denver it was.
-
No, I just had my surgery in Denver. I'm in Woodland Park. It's a small mount. town west of Colorado Springs ...... on the way to Cripple Creek.... if you have any idea where that is .... lol. I'm in the woods really, not even in the small town.
-
Wow! Great! I'm so happy for you. It's nice to get that self esteem boost and compliment from the surgeon. I'm so freaked out by my "before" pic I can't even post it here at LBT.

If you don't think stomach acid comes up through the stoma and hit your teeth every time you throw up your fooling yourself. The damage might not show up right away. It may take awhile to erode through the enamel. Did someone say I was being paid to post? I missed it if they did. oh well, if so, nothing could be farther from the truth. I am a dental hygienist .... teeth are what I know. I have seen the damage bulimia can cause and it's a bad situation when the damage shows up.

Lost 150 Pounds In 2008 - They're Still Off!
Humming Bird replied to Maincat's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wooo Hoooo !!! Love this post! It is so great to hear a success ! -
I also fear the OP will have many other problems after throwing up so much for so many years. She could have caused some severe damage to her stomach, esophagus, teeth and who knows what else. I was being understanding and supportive and trying to direct her to some real help.
