Ditto. My Dr. reccomends Adult Centrum chewables. I also take sublingual Biotin, D-3 gummies, & Fiber gummies.

It is such a great feeling when you fit in a smaller size! I have found that I must try on clothes instead of just holding them up to judge the size or thinking I know what size I am. It takes time for the brain to adjust. Don't worry that the weight is coming off too slow as long as it is coming off! The smaller size is proof you are shrinking. Wooo Hooo for you!

Chili and Soups...Sliders???
Humming Bird replied to kab1278's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat chunky soups and chili often. They are not sliders for me. I have trouble getting in all the protein, so the chili really helps with that. -
vomiting after every meal

My lapband was filled with 2.7cc at surgery. My sweet spot is 5.3cc for now. -
Your idea about the left shoulder pain is very wrong. I have been banded 16 months and my shoulder pain comes and goes. It is caused by pressure on the phrenic nerve. Pain caused by trapped air after surgery is usually in a different area, more in the area of the clavical, and only lasts a day or so. I know this first hand because I have had 4 surgeries. You can't tell me that it is trapped air after 16 months and I could just lift my arm to make it go away. I understand you are asking many questions here at LBT to research the band, but many of your posts come across with an arrogance like you already know it all. re: less ignorant doctors.......

Wouldn't a lead apron cover the area they are trying to see? -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Melody. My shoulder pain is back this week. It is not as bad as yours, but it has been constant this week. It was so bad last night I had to break out the pain patches. I think sleeping with the patch on helped a little bit, but the shoulder still hurts today. I sometimes toss around the idea that my fibro makes matters worse. This morning I was thinking maybe the slack they leave in the tubing may loop up and touch the phrenic nerve. I don't know. All I know is the pain has been very annoying this week. I think I just had one mouse. The traps have been set since Monday morning and just the one mouse has been caught. -
Hi and welcome to LBT.

 I have mice! or a Mouse! This weekend I found 2 mouse poops and promptly added traps to my shopping list. I set up 4 traps before I left for work today and there was a mouse in one when I got home! EEEWWWWWWW!!!!!! If I have one does that mean there are more? -
Wow, sorry to hear that. It's ok, let them feel superior. The band has worked very well for me and many others.

Problems Eating Certain Foods
Humming Bird replied to LauraBAP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are many things I can not eat no matter my fill level and eggs are one of the worst. I tried them 3 times in the first year and will never try them again. I have problems with many meats, pasta, rice, bread.... -

There are the crocs too! Thanks for posting pics Melody. I don't do facebook so I keep picturing you as the little elf lounging on a leaf. Yes, I too see the changes. Your legs, your torso, your face and neck.......wow! I'm a bit freaked out still about posting pics. It's a head issue. I have a really bad before pic, but no after pics. -
Turned away for cheating
Humming Bird replied to lashonda23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lashonda, Is your surgery today? I am wishing you luck I hope everything goes well for you and will see you on the other side.....the banded side! Honestly I don't see why some docs put their patients through such rough liquid diets for so long pre-op. My pre-op diet was Atkins for 2 weeks. I lost 8 pounds and my liver must have been thin enough because I came out of surgery with a band. -
altitude change in restriction? pls help
Humming Bird replied to bandaide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, my band gets much tighter when I go up in altitude. I live at 8,500ft. When I go up tp 9,500 I have to stick to mushies and liquids. If I go up over 10,000ft I'm so tight I have to stick with liquids. -
calories are calories?
Humming Bird replied to kellyodoran's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My thoughts too. I don't understand how anyone could manage to eat all your calories in just one meal after being banded. I have not eaten a meal like that since being banded. -

Great to hear from you Bobbie! We missed you! Pop on and check in when you can. I hope the band issues get worked out. The job situation sounds much brighter. -

I took the provigil for a few months in 2006 before I no longer had health insurance. It worked great, but was way too expensive without insurance so I had to stop taking it. I took it for CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) that is associated with FMS (fibromyalgia). Can the Nuvigil be crushed or made in a liquid or sublingual form? -
Banded for 3 Yrs, just filmed reality TV show about eating disorders

I really wanted to watch but had a school concert to go to for my little grandson. Is there a place online I can watch? -
After the first 100 pounds my weightloss slowed to an almost stop. I'm just riding it out and dropping about 1 pound a month. I too toss around the idea of another fill, but not so sure that will be the right thing to do. I am just enjoying the huge amount of weightloss for the moment and letting my brain catch up.

Going in at less than 200
Humming Bird replied to lovecorpus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is the criteria I have heard the most for both ins. and self-pay. -
Emptying your bowls release eeling of being stuck?
Humming Bird replied to kab1278's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure what you are talking about with the part of your post about testing your read and a tube. I don't get it at all. As for the bubbles, I feel bubbles often. Sometimes it feels like bubbles going up from my lower stomach to the upper pouch. My stomach also makes strange noises. I think it's pretty normal with the band. As for the bathroom issue, it is important that you stay regular. I eat a Fiber gummie every day to keep things moving (vitafusion brand/Target). Many other bandsters use other forms of fiber like benefiber. -
Going in at less than 200
Humming Bird replied to lovecorpus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the first time I have heard about a 200 lb criteria. Usually you qualify by having a BMI of 40 or more with no other health conditions or a BMI of 35 with 2 co-morbidities. -
Please comment. I believe these to be true
Humming Bird replied to fredgood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
13. It is very unlikely that you will ever lose all of your excess weight with a LAP-BAND®. I am living proof this one is not true. I am now at a "normal" BMI. This means I have lost 100% of my excess weight. I still need to take off 9 pounds for my personal goal. All this was done with very little effort on my part. -
New, contemplating Lap Band, and have some questions!
Humming Bird replied to lyndeeboo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Something you might consider is self-pay. I have not had insurance for quite a few years now. I financed my lapband surgery. At first the monthly payments were around $100. Now my min. monthly payments are $54. I have been making larger payments and now almost have it paid off. The surgery and the weightloss have been worth it to me. I paid more for my car than I paid for this surgery.
