banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Melody, That is so great! I'm glad things are going better for you. Today is Bob's plastic surgery. He hasn't visited our thread much lately. We'll have to get him back on board. -
It was 3 weeks from consult to surgery for me. but I was self-pay. There is the big difference with insurance vs. self pay. I had zero hoops to jump through. Nothing was required pre-op except for 2 weeks of Atkins diet.

Cheri, I just gave you a + !!!! I guess I have a better reputation with people who know me in person I know I'm loved

getting banded with a lower starting BMI
Humming Bird replied to ppeters's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure you will find a good surgeon with morals who will do WLS on someone with such a low BMI. A BMI of 25 is normal weight and you are not that far off. I do understand the feeling of obesity even when you don't fall into that weight range. -
I also did not consider gastric bypass. It was just way too much surgical damage for me to even think about. I've had the band for 18 months now and have had great results. I took off 100 pounds in the first year and about a pound per month after that. I started with a morbidly obese BMI of 41.3 and am now at a normal BMI of 24.6. I can not relate to bandsters who complain about all the hard work it takes to drop weight with the band. I personally have put in very little effort. I can not tell you which surgery to choose or even if any WLS is right for you. If you can not make up your mind, maybe you could try going to several seminars with different surgeons.

They also include some fat between your band and stomach. If you shrink that fat the band feels looser. -

WOW! Shads! Your face is looking thin in that pic! Laura, My port is up high just about 1 1/2 - 2 inches below my sternum. After a loss of 107 (almost at goal) pounds it is still hidden. I think you will just have to wait it out and see. If it is a problem in the future you could have a port revision, but I would wait and see what it is like at goal. -

Leigha, I love the new hair! It makes you look "spunky". I liked the old hair too -

It is very bad to throw up so often. It could cause you to lose your band or worse. You need to get back to your Dr. ASAP. -
$9950 and worth every cent

I get highlights every 11 weeks and have had no problem with it. I did lose quite a bit of hair, but that would have happened with or without the highlights.

I hate the changes! Now I can't update my ticker and I don't want to make a new one because all the info on my weightloss chart graph will be lost. I guess it's lost anyway since I can't update. I give up and now don't spend as much time on LBT as I used to. I'm glad I had it while I was in my big weightloss phase.

The changes to the site are really getting on my nerves! I just get fed up and stop using the site for awhile. Now I can't change my ticker. If I try to get a new one all my graph stuff from the past 1 1/2 years is lost. -
I'm a moron... can't figure out this site... URGH!

I still don't like the new site much. I click on the thing at the top that says "watch topic",,,,,, then what? it does not alert me when someone else posts in the thread. It only alerts me if someone quotes what I posted. -
Progress spreadsheets anyone?

I bet you will see and feel a big drop .......only about 1 week to go! My ticker is the only thing close to tracking I do. -
Anyone Cooking for Turkey day but not eating.....
Humming Bird replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cooked the big feast last year and could only eat a couple bites of a few things and will be doing the same this year. I am staying focused on the special time with my family instead of the food. My food focus will be feeding them, not feeding me. I'm content with that better this year. -
Do you eat soup?
Humming Bird replied to Amanda J's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I eat soup often. It depends on your restriction level. I have great restriction and chunky type soups stay with me and I get full. At just a few weeks post-op the soup may go through faster, but can still be a good option for protein (Chili). -
I am having trouble with all the changes. I think it's mostly because I'm not that great with computers in general, I'll get used to it and stick around because I really enjoy all the other bandsters here at LBT. I've been a member since July 2009 and it's nice to see many of the same people posting on the site.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's great to hear from you Jacki, I think the goal adjustment sounds fine. It really depends on how you carry your weight. I look/feel best from the middle to the high range in a normal BMI. I have been toward the low end of normal in my life and looked too thin. I think you can find a 5 pound range you will feel good at and maintain. You Don't have far to go now! Yah for you! I'm glad the scale is moving again for you. -

So far I don't like the changes to the site, but we'll see how it goes. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I'm down another pound (158 today), but better not change my ticker yet because the pie may put me back (159). Oh yes, there will be pie -
THis NEW improved (*) site

I logged in ok....normal..... so far. But it notified me like you sent me a PM saying you just quoted me. OK.....big deal, someone quoted me. Very strange. It is going to take some getting used to. I think some people may just give up and not use the site for awhile. I am having trouble posting replys in general. I hit the "post" button and then just get a blank screen ........ well, did my post show up? Then I have to find the stupid thread again. -
First Thanksgiving with Lapband!!!
Humming Bird replied to lunamiah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my 2nd Thanksgiving with the band. Last year I planned out my day so I could have a tiny bit of the things I wanted. This meant pumpkin pie for breakfast! (no crust) For my Thnaksgiving meal I made myself a very tiny plate with a few things I thought I would be able to eat. I ate a very tiny bit and was done. I tried to focus on feeding everyone else because I'm the cook. It worked out ok. This year I am just glad to have my family at my house so I can enjoy spending time with them. The meal it's self is no longer the main focus for me. -

I just logged in for the first time in 4 days ...... don't like it...... will have to mess around with it a bit -
This may be happening due to a hyatial hernia. My doc told me about 1/3 of his patients need hernia repair during the lapband surgery. It is common in obese people. My acid reflux/gerd stopped as soon as I had this done.
