What a great feeling!! I love "closet shopping." -
What would you do?
Humming Bird replied to Huggles1951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course I don't know your SIL, but if it were me and my family members, I would be very open and honest about the band. I think my SIL would be hurt if I didn't tell her. -
7/9/09 at surgery 2.7cc (felt restriction 4 weeks) 8/28/09 1st fill +1.2cc = 3.9cc (restriction 3 wks) 09/25/09 2nd fill +1.4cc = 5.3cc (very tight 15 days...then good restriction) Sweet spot

2011 - banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I showered, did my hair and makeup, got dressed in my new jeans and sweater, then my plans to go to the bigger city fell apart. I was feeling pretty damn good about the way I looked and decided I should just do a little running around my tiny little town since I had the day off and was dressed. I went to the coffee shop and ordered a skinny latte, then to the little gift shop next door and chatted a bit with some local ladies. All was well and I was feeling great. I went in the little goodwill store and found a cool lamp shade I think I want to paint for $1.99 !Then the dip shit at the register asked me if I wanted the senior discount! Hell no, I don't want the damn senior discount I'm in my 40s beotch! Well, that shot all my good feelings all to hell. I should have told her yes and took the damn discount, but I was just so offended. I was feeling so good about the way I looked before I left the house I had even considered taking an "after" picture. Now I feel like it would be my obituary pic. -

2011 - banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The general forum is getting on my nerves. I better just stick to this thread for awhile so I don't offend anyone. I have today off because my schedule is such a mess now. I do have to drive to the big city and do a couple things and may spend some time on the new quilt. It is going together pretty fast. I'll post pics when I can. I hope you all have a great day and drop at least a pound for the day!! -
Job interview tomorrow....
Humming Bird replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on an interview after I had taken off 100 pounds. I bombed the interview because the weightloss was on my mind. All I could think of was sagging skin! OMG....... I left thinking how bad I did. At one point he asked me to tell him a little about myself and I was stumped ...... "uh, duh......." All that kept going through my mind was being banded and all that goes along with it. I should have told him about all my skills! I didn't say anything about my weightloss or the band, but couldn't get all out of my thoughts. Try to keep the job in your mind and what you can bring to it. Keep your job skills on your mind. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to think about how you look. Good luck to you. I hope you get the job. -
Want Gastric Bypass and save LOTS of money?
Humming Bird replied to Dave_NW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
aww geee, If I only would have seen that before I had this surgery! Just think of all the money I would have saved! Look at the great price , only $263.95 ! and on sale! 11%off! :wow: -
Blondie, do you come back to the thread? Maybe sticking around here at LBT would help you a little.

My band helps me just like it should. I am only able to eat very tiny amounts of food. It is so much more than a tool for me. I don't have to "work it." I don't work hard at it. There will be a time when you don't have restriction and have to "diet." But for me, that time was very short.

Great NSV! My rings were an important one for me. I love my wedding rings as much today as I did 25 years ago when I first picked them out. They are just so pretty. As I packed on weight over the years I had them sized up (about 10 years after I got married). Then I continued to put on weight and they were too small again, so I stopped wearing them . I refused to make them bigger again. After some weight came off with help from the band, I could wear them again and was so happy with this milestone/NSV! But now they are too big and I am back to not wearing them .

2011 - banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Humming Bird replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whoo hoo for the port revision ..... now maybe things will go a bit smoother for you. Ugh.... just the thought of anesthesia makes me feel sick. I hope you feel better soon. -
Swirl, Yes, I remember you Please understand that when most of us reply we are trying to help you through when you struggle. Many of us can only go by our own experience and try to give you tips with what we found helpful along our own journey. Did you tell your Dr. how pissed you are about not being able to eat 1/2 a hamburger and french fries like you talked about in your OP? Did he tell you that you should be able to eat anything you want but much smaller portions? Many bandsters who have posted in this thread have had struggles along the way. It does work very different for all of us and some of this 'help' may not help you with your problems at all, but it is worth reading and worth trying some of it out. You just might find the one tip that makes it so much better for you. I know a couple bandsters who posted on this thread that were ready to have the band taken out, but chose to give it another try and "work it" in a last ditch effort. I want you to be a success, but I am very far from an expert. I can only tell you things I have learned along the way and my own experience. I don't do it like 90% of the other bandsters here at LBT. I do it my own way and it works for me. I do hope you find your own way to success even if that means some other type of WLS along the way. Even Spartan had to resort to gastric bypass.

It is so great to hear from you again Karen! We miss you! Pop in now and then. -
These studies about failure rates do freak me out a bit. I guess I am just happy I am one of the people the band does work for. At least my chances for continued success are better with the band than without it.

The discourse/converstion on this forum
Humming Bird replied to tanqueray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto...... yep..... I agree. -
My biggest complication was the hit to my bank account. $9950 ouch! The band has worked well for me and I'm so happy with my results.

Another "Am is too tight" question
Humming Bird replied to bayareanan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you followed the rule about sticking with liquids the first day after a fill and then move slow to the more solid stuff to avoid swelling and you are now having this feeling whith yogurt, then yes, I think you are too tight. If you did not follow the liquids only rule, then you may have caused some swelling. You would be suprised with the results of getting a very tiny bit of an unfill. I'm talking VERY tiny , like .1cc or .2cc . Yes, point one or point two. Not even a half cc. -
blondie4, how are you doing now? Did you go see the doc?

WoW....I feel Good
Humming Bird replied to Sharmaine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
tanqueray. so glad to hear you are having so much sex! LMFAO!! -
I remember the day I made up my mind about getting the band. I remember how disgusted I felt about my morbid obesity. I was so desperate to find a way to take off the weight and keep it off. I was so ready. I was willing to pay cash because I had no health insurance (had been turned down because of my weight). I was so tired of seeing that morbidly obese gal in the mirror. I would have done it even if I could only eat gruel for the rest of my life. I am happy that I can eat more than gruel. I can sacrifice burgers and fries for getting rid of the morbid obesity and all the feelings that came with it.

WoW....I feel Good
Humming Bird replied to Sharmaine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well Sharmaine, I thought your thread would really take off and get many replys. I thought many bandsters would want to post about the positive ways the band has changed their lives. There are just too many who want to only post about how much they hate their band or complications I guess. -
