Feel Like Such A Lap Band Failure!
Humming Bird replied to robinbare's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes! Go back and get the band adjusted. You will be so glad you did. I'm sure the miscarriages would have made many of us pack on a few pounds. I'm sorry this happened to you. These are very tough situations to deal with and I'm sure you will have more tough things happen in your life. I feel for you. The good thing now is that your mindset is back on the weightloss journey. Go get the fill and let the band help you, Let it do it's job. It almost seems like self punishment if we try to take off the weight the hard way before going back in to see the doc for a fill. -
Questions Questions Questions!!!!
Humming Bird replied to Lilygirl40's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You won't stretch your pouch at this stage. You have no fills, so the food is not staying in your pouch. You need to follow the "diet" your Dr. tells you to follow. If you have eaten in the way the Dr. tells you and you are still hungry, ask yourself it is is true hunger or "head hunger". You may go through a very hungry stage (Bandster Hell) untill you have a couple fills. Untill then you need to "diet". -
Another Lap Band Failure Reporting In
Humming Bird replied to skinnyoneday's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my vote is for a fill ! Let the band do it's job and help you. Over time some of the fluid does go away. I go in for a tiny tweek fill about every 10-12 months now. It helps me keep restriction and maintain a normal BMI. -

Don't take off the 15 the hard way. Just go get a fill and use your band. Tell them you are ashamed about the weight gain and I'm sure they will be glad you came in for a fill. -
That's GREAT!!!! The NSVs are what keeps me going. I LOVE wearing "normal" sizes!! I'm so happy for you!

Merry Christmas To Me!
Humming Bird replied to Jenn1214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great NSV! That's why I always say TRY IT ON. As we take off the weight it takes awhile for the brain to catch up. Just holding up a clothing item and trying to judge if it will fit does not work well. Good for you! I had a "Merry Christmas to Me" moment myself ........ I was in ROSS doing a bit of Christmas shopping on the 23rd and found a $10 laying on the floor! Not an NSV, but for sure a "Merry Christmas". -

After A Lap Band Fill What Do You Eat???
Humming Bird replied to fofo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right after a fill I go get something very ice cold to drink so it helps reduce the chance of swelling from the fill. After that I stick with liquids for the rest of that day and then just proceed with caution ...... -

I know that even when we have good restriction we can still eat around the band, but it really does sound like you need a fill. When was your last one? -
Lap Band Removed Last Year, Still Vomiting
Humming Bird replied to Barnstormer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you considered some sort of bulimia? I would be very upset if they wouldn't let me see the Dr. like that. All I've ever seen is the Dr. .... no nurses or PAs -
Just adding in my 2 cents worth ........ It is sad a lapband surgeon would act that way .... very sad ..... As for my own experience, I have not counted calories from day one. My band has been adjusted properly, so counting calories is really not required for success with the band. I lost 100 pounds in the first year and I have maintained a normal BMI for at least 1 1/2 years. My surgeon NEVER asked me about how many calories I eat and has NEVER asked me about the foods I eat on any given day . No food journaling for me. My results speak for themselves .....

No-no Foods...what Are Yours?
Humming Bird replied to mst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My list is long. I've been very sensitive to things from day one. I'm ok with it because my weight came off fast and with no "work". I maintain my normal weight with zero work as well. Here's the no no list that comes to mind right now: Dense meat (steak, roast, pork ....) Bread Pasta Rice eggs Carbonated drinks pizza (because of the bread issue) hamburgers (because of the bread issue) anything breaded or fried I'm sure my list is longer, but those are the items that come to mind -

Limited To What I Can Tolerate To Eat
Humming Bird replied to LADYSUMMER's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have quite a long list of foods I can no longer tolerate. I am doing fine without those foods. I think many of those foods are what made me obese anyway. (bread, pasta,.....) -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Humming Bird replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
He's retired ............ the BEST surgeon, but now retired ....... -
I had mine done in Denver for $9,995. There is another surgeon in Denver doing it now for under $9,000. (both top notch surgeons from what I understand)

Post Lap Band Surgery Bms
Humming Bird replied to JinTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vitafusion brand fiber gummies have saved me! (Target) The dose is 2 per day, but I just eat one and it works great! -
I guess I don't understand why someone who is trying to lose weight would try to eat back the calories they just burned.

Regurgiation, Choking And Reflux At Nightime, After Getting A Lap Band Fill
Humming Bird replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most bandsters find the ER the wrong place to go. I would take it easy for the rest of the weekend....liquids, protein shakes and so on. See if you can get in to your lapband office Monday and get a very tiny unfill. You will be surprised at how well you will do with just having .1 or .2cc removed. -
Who Are You Telling About Your Lap Band Surgery?
Humming Bird replied to roxeyk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tell everyone. If someone asks about how I lost all the weight I feel it is dishonest to say I eat less and exercise more .....or anything that is not the truth ..... I got lapband. It works! It was EASY! Why would I take the hard way? It would be a shame to get someone's hopes up about the old fashoned dieting that does not work. I have not had any bad feedback at all. I was banded in July 2009 and have told many people since then. People will know you have had some sort of WLS if you eat around them and you have dropped a large amount of weight. -
I'm also a member of the "it's all about restriction" club. I had this device wrapped around my stomach for a reason and It has been adjusted properly for results with little effort on my part. For me there is a fine line between the green zone and being too tight. I would never say being too tight is the right way. I don't count calories. It's a waste of time in my book. If I gain a pound I evaluate what I've been eating ....... ate some junk food, that explains it. If I want to drop a few more pounds I stick to healthier foods and increase activity. Simple calories in vs. calories used. I don't measure or weigh anything either (except myself).

Craving Salads???
Humming Bird replied to kcf101008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat salads quite a bit. I agree it depends on what is in the salads. I had taco salad last night, made at home with spring mix type lettuce, onion, red bell pepper, light red kidney beans, ground beef, cheese, a few fritos for crunch. The light red beans are softer than the dark red. Today I had a shrimp and spinach salad at applebees for lunch. I can't eat all the salad or all the shrimp. I tend to have trouble with tomatoes and cucumbers. It's trial and error to figure out what works for me. I never use iceburg lettuce. Sometimes I take spring mix type salad to work for lunch and add things like cheese and sunflower seeds. With salads I just make sure I chew every bite well.
