I live with a tight band and do not have constipation problems or any other IBS type issues. About 10 years ago (way before the band) I had been misdiagnosed with IBS. I went back to my PCP many times over several years. I did not go #2 very often and sometimes had to use laxitives. I even brought it up when I had a pap. The Dr. told me my colon did not work properly. He said it was like a tube of tooth paste beeing squeezed from the middle instead of from the bottom. He said it was a form of IBS and I should eat Fiber. I complained during the pap as I felt discomfort during the part when they feel the ovaries. They even had me join in a clinical study of IBS patients. Many, many times I said that I could not go #2. Well, finally I went back to the PCP's office after work one day and said "somthing is very wrong and it is not IBS!" I started having pain with sex. He started feeling around my belly (I was not obese at that time). He had a student in the office with him and had her feel. They were working my stomach back and forth like they do when you have a baby in there. The student was asking some questions ...... the Dr. told me he wanted me to go get an MRI. I said, "ok." He said, "I mean go get one right now. We will call and tell them you are on your way." My right ovary was the size of a soccer ball and my left was the size of a grapefruit. My f.tubes were like big overgrown zucchini ! No wonder I couldn't take a poop! My intestines were being smashed! The surgery for that was VERY BAD!! The reason I tell you this story? Every time I hear someone say they have IBS, I cringe and think maybe it is being misdiagnosed. This was the second time that PCP screwed up with me. I never went back to his office again.

Unexpected feelings after LapBand..anyone else?
Humming Bird replied to dementedfrog83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not see anything constructive in the original post. I directed the OP to a much more constructive thread. Even for those who did not see the original, look at the title. The poster has unexpected feelings toward fat people in their life. They were asking if anyone else has feelings like this. She used the wrong words in the post. I could see from the get go that she would get slammed for the words she chose. -
How did you feel 2 weeks after surgery?
Humming Bird replied to bostonmomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks after surgery I was still feeling very weak. I went back to work after one weak. The hunger part wasn't bad at that point and I had no pain. I was still on pretty much full liquids and some very runny mushies. -
It really sounds like you need a fill. I know for me, I would get that full feeling way before I had that many crackers with my soup.

Unexpected feelings after LapBand..anyone else?
Humming Bird replied to dementedfrog83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a shame that the OP edited out a couple of the original posts because the parts that were repeated were picking out only the worst of them and missing the point totally. Go ahead, respond, defend yourselves, add fuel to that fire. Then what have you accomplished? 2 wrongs never make a right. Do you resemble the original remarks and make yourself feel better by slamming the OP? I know I do. I can tell you that 60 lbs ago I myself was having trouble wiping my ass properly. I'm not sure if it's all the vitamins/suppliments or what, but right now I am having my own issues with BO. Sometimes I do feel like a fat slob. That being said, blasting the OP about how they are feeling is not going to help. It takes a special kind of person to admit when they were wrong, used the wrong words to explain, or responded in the wrong way. Lets see if anyone is "big" enough to do that. -
Good question .... hmmmm I never measure my liquids. Now that I think about it, I never measure anything. My band is tight, so I have trouble eating anything very solid ....... like meat. I eat things like yogurt, Soup, chili, cottage cheese, oatmeal ........... I am very tight in the morning, so sometimes I can not even eat a 1/2 portion of oatmeal. I drink a Protein shake on my way to work. Some of the Protein Bars are even too solid. My big meal of the day is usually lunch. I can sometimes eat a small chili from wendy's. Sometimes I can only eat half of it. I take soup to work sometimes.

I've been debating whether I should infuriate the masses by revealing my diet and the one food that I lost 60 lbs eating daily, but I haven't decided if the "judges" can handle it. Stay tuned, lol Amen about the judges! I have been slapped down by the judges/experts as well. The funny thing is they jump up on thier judge/expert soap boxes sometimes even before they are banded, or shortly there after. Hey, you have lost a huge amount of weight, so don't let the judges bother you.

My husband wants to get banded too and i am concerned...
Humming Bird replied to krstjump03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know what it will be like for you and exactly what your relationship is with your husband, but can speak from my own situation. I would think it would be easier if you were both banded. My husband has never been overweight in his life. I still cook for him, as I have done for over 23 years. Now sometimes I am cooking 2 different things .... food for him and food for me. It just seems like it would be so much nicer to have a bandbuddy living in the same house. -
Unexpected feelings after LapBand..anyone else?
Humming Bird replied to dementedfrog83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
exactly why I directed this poster to the other thread .................. I had hopes that after reading the "I hate fat people" thread, dementedfrog would learn ................. in a positive way -
Unexpected feelings after LapBand..anyone else?
Humming Bird replied to dementedfrog83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
whatever ................... you missed the point of the original post. This post was started by a 26 year old who is having some very real feelings. My own son is 27 years old. There are ways people could have responded that would have been helpful instead of so hateful. I do not share the feelings of the original post, but directed the poster to a much more insightful thread to help them understand some of the feelings. -

Humming Bird replied to dementedfrog83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there was another thread just like this one not too long ago. the responses were much more positive and insightful about the way you are feeling. I'm not sure what the title of the thread was ...... maybe somthing like "I hate fat people" not sure .... if I find it, I will let you know -
I have pretty good luck with JCPenney. Go to the store and try on all the different brands. I too am at a size 38D. I just had to go try on about 15 before I found one that fit properly.

Surgery 12-28-09
Humming Bird replied to lisaluvsgreys's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
mine said coffee and tea are ok .... no soda. In fact, my NUT said that the tea + sweet n low that I drink daily is ok. I never have liked carbonated stuff much, but have been drinking the tea + sweet n low for many years. -
StephanieF, CONGRATS!!! your weightloss is great !!!

I like my band tight. I don't waste time or obcess about every gram of everything I put in my mouth. If I wanted to do that I would have skipped getting the band. I also do not live on junk food or icecream. I try to keep my protein up, but do not obcess about every gram. I take my vitamins daily. I also have not turned into a fitness expert, as some seem to think they are. My band is not so tight that I throw up, but it has been very tight since September.

JULY BANDSTERS!!!!!!! Where are you? UPDATE THREAD :)
Humming Bird replied to barbie1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded July 9, 09. I am satisfied with the results so far. Of course I still have that feeling that I want it all off right now, but have lost so much more than I ever would have without the band. I hope to be at or near my goal weight by July 2010! AND KEEP IT OFF! -
mine is pretty tight. It seems to be working for me. The scale numbers keep dropping. I am not to goal yet, but hope to be there at my 1 year mark.

Surgeon's Office in Decline
Humming Bird replied to Barnstormer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
there are rules/laws about a patient who reports pain. They absolutly have to see you if you report pain. If they do not, it is neglect. But ...... I would not mess around with that. Find a lap-band Dr. and make the drive to get everything checked. It may be something simple ..... then make the drive for fills ..... put your mind at ease and make that drive.
