Treadmill VS Elliptical
Humming Bird replied to bandster_1007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hate them both !!! But, I did go buy an elliptical. I have a hard enough time tripping over my own feet.... a real clutz sometimes. I see myself with some bad injuries with a treadmill. -

Lap Band and CPR
Humming Bird replied to AlienBandit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to take a CPR class every 2 years. It seems to me that if done properly, it won't cause a problem with your band. The chest compressions are done in the center. Your stomach and band are to the left. -
It sounds to me like your surgeon is neglecting you and you could really get him in some trouble over it. I am not telling you to start any trouble, but you do need to put your foot down in some way. Maybe try to find another lapband doc to at least talk with you.

Humming Bird replied to Nycfw's topic in Rants & Raves
If the comment was so bad why in the world does everyone keep repeating it? I have seen it posted here over and over and over.... much more than the one time I saw it in another thread... one time. -
3rd fill and can't eat
Humming Bird replied to kylady1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you are walking that fine line between a sweet spot and too tight. After my last fill I had to do liquids more than the usual after a fill, but it slowly got better. It sounds like you may have some swelling or irritation from getting sick. Only you can decide if you are too tight. A couple of sure ways to tell if you are too tight is night coughing and night acid reflux. -

Humming Bird replied to Living My Dream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually look past the spelling and typing errors....including my own I'm sure. After all it's not english class or a spelling bee :w00t: I like to read what people have to say even if they don't know how to spell or use proper english. -

Feeling of fullness
Humming Bird replied to vlp1968's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All that sounds pretty normal to me. It sounds like you may be taking one or 2 more bites than you should to be "done eating". As long as you are not hungry, it's a good thing. Just take a bite or 2 less so you don't get the heartburn at all. -
I also do not want people to be mislead thinking I have taken off the wieght with any fad diet or waste of money weightloss company like JC or NS.

It is a very personal choice, as we can all see by the many posts about it on LBT. Only we know the people in our own lives and can judge how they will respond. I am generally in the tell all camp and have a huge support team bacause of it, but in the beginning there were 2 people I did not want to tell. I was working in an office with a husband and wife as bosses. In my opnion, they were very judgemental of other people and looked down their noses like they were better than everyone else. They were both very tiny in stature. They were also very crooked in their business practices. They treated employees badly and I had been keeping my eyes open for a new job. I only took one day off that job to have surgery (I work 3 part-time jobs). I did not want them to know just because they were so judgemental in general and did not want them to know anything about me personally. They had me fill out a questionaire shortly after I started there asking things that were none of their business. Things like, what types of medication do you take? I filled it out with N/A in most of the blanks. Nosey Jerks! I had already talked at length about it with my co-workers and we came up with a plan just for fun. No matter who the bosses asked about my surgery we would all have the same reply. Well, they ask one of my co-workers in a gossip type of tone. She told them I had VAGINAL REJOUVENATION ! They were such prudes it shut them down right away! My co-workers and I all had a good laugh daily about it for a month until I found a replacement job. To this day I don't know if anyone ever told them different and I don't care ! I had worked there for 13 months and only took that one day off for surgery. They wrote me up for taking that day off.

I have my ups and downs too. I think things will be just fine for you. Just think ahead to summer ! By then you will be feeling so much better and can wear some nicer summer clothes this year! -
Enlist in the Navy
Humming Bird replied to CJRUBIO29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isn't there an age limit to join too? I thought it was 27 or something? That may be a very old rule. I know very little about military rules even though I grew up in a town with 5 military bases. -
Are you a man, a woman or something else?
Humming Bird replied to btrieger's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I learned those things in my FIRST semester, not in the 500-600 higher-than-thou levels. But, I try not to belittle total strangers by demanding they be "educated" by me. But, she will maybe learn those things with maturity in about 20 years and when she gets her nose out of the air. I've had her on my ignore list for a long time now so I don't have to see any more arrogant and haughty comments ..............move on. It's a wonderful thing. I can't even see the ones she posted here. -
You may get several different opinions on the PB thing, but here is mine. PB = productive burp. For me this means air is trapped under food and sometimes it is very hard to burp. Sometimes it can be painful. When I do finally get the air to come out, a little food may come up into my esophagus or throat and then go back down. I have heard others say they actually heave when they PB and end up spitting it up in the trash or toilet. To me that is throwing up.

I think it is all a personal choice. If you get real hunger between meals, you should get another fill. I don't work out as much as you do, so I stay well below 1000 calories a day and keep my band pretty tight during this weightloss phase. Some people like to keep it a little looser than mine. I can not eat some foods... too tight for some things. You have to do what you think is right for you.

Admitting to people how much you weigh?
Humming Bird replied to PalmBayTish72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here on LBT it is great to post my weight. Starting weight, current weight, goal weight, highest ever weight.... whatever. But out in other life situations .... work, family, friends... it seems a little different. In some situations, I talk about it and in others I don't. Over the years, people have not just asked, "how much do you weigh?" Now that I am banded, the people who know ask "how much have you lost?" It feels great to tell them! -
I want magic, I don't want to work, just give me a magic piece of plastic
Humming Bird replied to tarajim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought the Op was just feeling frustration. TJ, dude, where are ya? were you being facetious or just feeling the frustration that we all feel about wanting the weight off NOW! and wanting to eat whatever you darn well please? -
Age specific support group NOT specific anymore
Humming Bird replied to Nycfw's topic in Rants & Raves
The nice thing about this forum is that we all have something in common ..............lapband, or something like it. I could not have talked with you about the issues most of us talk about here when I was in my 20s. I was not overweight in my 20s, but I am banded in my 40s and I am a woman ............we have that in common. -

Age specific support group NOT specific anymore
Humming Bird replied to Nycfw's topic in Rants & Raves
Anywho, back to this sweet young girl's original post. Not that we got off track or anything ! LOL ! I'm sorry that I sometimes post in the wrong places. I try not to, but sometimes my malnourished and aged brain gets a little fuzzy. Please don't be upset with me if I post in the wrong thread. Please don't be anoyed with me for very long. I do understand your point about being in your 20s and wanting to talk with others in your age group, but remember a 50 year old woman has a great deal of experience with the female body ..... she was in her 20s at one time and many may also have daughters in their 20s. Also, a female body is always a female body unless you have some very big operations to change that. -

I agree with Elfie, just like the building a house without a hammer thread by Elfie :w00t: -
you can get sample packs and try all the flavors from many of the brands you hear people talk about on LBT. Many of them I did not like, so I'm glad I ordered the sample packs. www.unjury.com www.chikenutrition.com www.si03.com (this is the one where I got the nectar ones and like the lemonaid, crystal sky, cherry) the apple tastes like green apple jolly ranchers.

Remember to take very tiny sips. I like the Atkins vanilla shakes (walmart), but if you have trouble with the milky ones at this point, I would try nectar brand roadside lemonaid, crystal sky or cherry. I don't think you will find those in a store though. I get those online.
