Everyone is very different, but I found the colder the things were that I drank, the better the swelling went down. I also used an ice pack on my stomach longer than they said to and it really helped.

I can only tell you from my own personal experience. The band has been working very well for me and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I wish I would have done it sooner. I am very happy with my weightloss results so far. The band does prevent me from overeating. I do not count calories, but I also do not live on candy bars, icecream, Cookies or alcohol. To tell you the truth, I put very little effort in. It has not been a hardship and does not control every minute of my life. The only negative for me has been thinning hair. I think I am more at risk for this than some others may be because my hair is naturally baby fine, thin and straight. At almost my 7 month mark, I think the thinning is slowing down. I have lost 69 pounds and have 45 more to take off (maybe more, we'll see). I still feel like a thin gal trapped in a fat body. I am still classified in an "obese" catagory, but just feel "overweight". At least I no longer feel "morbidly obese." This journey has been pretty good for me, with the exception of thinning hair. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Looks means quite a lot to me as a woman and I hope I will feel better about the way I look very soon. When I feel better about myself, I know it shows in my overall attitude. Over the years I have noticed I get treated very differently by others depending on how I look that day. My son (age 27) has noticed it too, so I know it's not just all in my head. An example of this is when I was shopping for a used car. I take my son with me as he knows more about cars. When I go to a dealer wearing my hair in it's natural stick straight style, they act like I don't have enough money to buy the cars I am looking at and they won't let me test drive a car without someone riding along with me. I can go back to the same dealer after curling my hair (same clothes/same make-up), and they treat me so much better. They just toss me the keys to any car and say, "take it out on the interstate and see how you like it." I come back and they have another ready for me to take out. It happens all the time! I really do believe that as I get thinner, people treat me better. sad, but true.

One of the best ways to cook country style pork ribs: Broil/brown the ribs a bit on all sides to cook off some of the fat. Toss the ribs in the crock pot and pour a jar of any BBQ sauce on them. Cook on low all day. You could use the same idea with any meat. The Italian dressing works well on just about any meat too. Crock pot is great for Chili.

I sometimes have the same problem with constipation and as I have stated before, I have a pretty tight band right now. Remember it is very common for bandsters to only have a BM every few days. I find it very helpful to keep a calendar and a pen next to the toilet. I just circle the date when I go. This way I can keep track. If it's been several days, I eat a prune or take a childrens laxitive strip. I was thinking about trying Activia yogurt. Has anyone tried it? Does it work?

BT did you get a surgery date yet?

I think I am going to face the same problem. I have not had health ins. for several years now. I was turned down a couple years ago by one company when I was 230lbs because of my weight. After that I balooned up to 264lbs. Now I am under 200. I hope you get some good info here that I can use too

I was banded 7/09/09 and have dropped 68 pounds so far .... maybe 69 in the morning, as I have been at 68 for a few days. I've had 2 fills and have had pretty tight restriction since Sept. I am very pleased with my progress so far. I feel so much thinner already !! Whoo Hoooo !! I have gone from wearing very tight size 2X scrubs to work to very loose size Large right now. Mediums here I come!

So you fell off the wagon. Get back on and don't look back!!!! and get a fill . There is no way you could eat what you did with proper restriction.

I had some of the same problems you have including major weight gain after hysterectomy. You will be so happy to be off all those meds much quicker than you think. The only negative I have had is thinning hair. They say it will stop at some point and start growing back in.

That stuff is so bad!!! OMG!! I had to take it before a colonoscopy years ago. I feel for you. It tastes bad and ........ I did not have to do it before band surgery though. They gave me a suppository to use the night before surgery and said it way optional.

After last night I can't stand the red team or the green. There is no need to be such beoches.

Fasting (going totally without) is too drastic. You will get plenty of a jump start with full liquids for a couple days. Let us know how you do and keep visiting LBT for support and ideas.
