  1. Hello, I am wondering if anyone else has had any issues with eating in the morning? I was banded 10/27/09 and up until about 2 weeks ago thought it was wonderful. Now after a gallstone attach last week and my 3rd fill although I don't feel too tight I have problems eating in the morning. It is almost like I get a mucus build up overnight and the only thing I can get down is a protein shake and at lunch I still can't get solid food down to stay. But in the evening for dinner I seem to have not much of a problem. Has anyone else had this problem? And what is even more weird is I can get junk food down easier that real food. The last 3 days for lunch I have tried to eat regular food but it has come back up each time so I have had an ice cream shake from McD's and it will go down and stay.
  2. Does anyone know where to get the new qualifications that BCBS of IL started as of July 1? I was told by my physician there are new qualification that are better.
  3. I had my surgery on Tuesday-oct 27th and all the incisions are healing well. My doctor found an esophageal hernia while he was in there and repaired it. Has anyone else experienced this? Also my stomach is still very bloated out almost like I am 6 months pregnant. I keep taking walks every 2-4 hours hoping to get rid of the bloat but I also feel like a pressure where my stomach pouch is. Is this normal? Is it just because I am swollen? Does this feeling of pressure go away? and how long until it does? I slept in the recliner last night so I could have my head somewhat above my feet. Can the hernia come back? I am being very careful with the liquids. I don't switch to puree'd foods until tomorrow. I am having a hard time forcing myself to get the liquids in. Is this normal? I don't want to get sick from being dehydrated so I am forcing the Water and Jello and some broth down. Any suggestions? Lucy:unsure:
  4. I had my banding Tuesday 10/27 and the next day before I left the hospital they took off the bandages and let me shower there. I have staples that they will take out on Monday along with the steri stripes. My doctor said we can shower not take bath and then after pat dry or dry with a blowdryer (which makes the area feel good). My port incision is the only one still oozing a little so I keep a gauze pad over it and replace after showering with some neosporin. You do need to use antibacterial soap though to kill any germs. Hope this helps.
  5. I go in tomorrow morning for the band and I am now nervous. Up to this point I was calm and ready but now I am somewhat freaking out!! I know I will be ok but now is when I am thinking about all the things that could go wrong. I have had numerous surgeries that were have to cases...I am not sure if is because this is one I chose to do but man am I nervous. Probably nervous because this is the start of the rest of my life of happiness, and less pain from all the ailments that come with being overweight. :wink2:
  6. My date id Oct 27. I am on day 7 of the pre-op diet. Our diet consists of: Breakfast: 1 Atkins Protein shake Lunch: 1 Atkins Protein shake Dinner: 4 oz protein, 1/2 cup veggies Also allowed inbetween throughout the day 2 sugar free jellos, 2 sugar free popsicles, 2 - 1/2 cup servings of broth each. Definately was not easy for the first 3 days. Day 2 I was sick, headach and dizzy and nauseauted, day 3 little nauseau afternoon, headache but by day 4 I felt good. Had more energy and no cravings. I even went with fiance to lunch and sat there with my shake while he ate pizza..(and no he wasn't being mean, I told him I was ok with it) My biggest thing is being constipated right now and 9 capsules of Beneful for the past 3 days is not helping. Anyone have suggestions?
  7. Ok, I started my preop diet on Tuesday 10/13 and first couple days WERE HARD. I am past all the cravings and don't feel very hungry any more. We have a get together tonight and there is always drinking. Has anyone drank during preop? If you mix say 1oz of vodka with crystal light that is only 69 calories, no carbs, no sugars. HAS ANYONE EVER DRANK DURING THEIR PRE-OP DIET? If so how did you feel after...besides guilty. Our pre-op consists of 1 Atkins shake for breakfast, 1 Atkins shake for lunch, Dinner is 4oz of protein, 1/2 cup veggies. We are also allowed 2 sugar free popsicles, 2 sugar free jello, and 2 1/2 cup servings of chicken broth each a day inbetween to curb the hunger. I have all that down...(and believe me that was a serious shock to my system) and I dont want to mess anything up but I am wondering if it will hurt anything by drinking 1-2 drinks if I ride the bike a little extra to burn off the calories? Any suggestions other than do not do it? Just wondering if anyone else had drank during this time and how they felt.
  8. Well I opted out of drinking at all. Don't want to screw anything up and risk all the hard work I have been doing so far. Thank you all for your help.
  9. I too have Oct. 27th date. I am soooo nervous, excited, scared, emotional. This is a great journey!

    Hi from IL

I too am from IL and BCBS and just went in for my weigh in today and was told they received my approval letter. It took about 3 weeks since they sent it off until today so not too long. BCBS has changed their qualifications and it is much easier. You only have to do 3 months of diet, psych eval and that is basically all. I see Dr. Lehmann at Silver Cross. I have my surgery date of Oct 27!!! I am sooo excited yet soooo nervous now that I have the actual date.:smile2:
  11. I am awaiting my approval from BCBS but I am scheduled to have a surgery on my foot/ankle next week. Has anyone had any other surgeries prior to the banding? And if so how long did you have to wait?
