I am using Dr. Belott and he is very nice, and throe with everything that he explains to you. I am having surgery with him on August 28, 2009 at West Jefferson Hospital. I am going this morning to have all my pre-op stuff done. Great Doctor!

I waited a week before going back on the desk then a month after that before I went back on the street. My Doctor would not release me back to full duty until 5 weeks because he was worried about me getting into a altercation and my port getting hit. After 5 weeks I was a little sore but not bad and returned to work with no trouble.

How many grams of carbs are people eating daily?
Moemoe455 replied to tanqueray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat no more then 10 grams of whole carbs (not net) a day sometimes less. I get my protein in the things that I eat (per my Doctor) and I go to the gym daily. -

I was just wondering what would happen if you do not get enough protein? I try to get my 60 grams a day but sometimes it is hard to do so. Just let me know! -

I read that a lot of people hit a spot where they are not loosing weight. There is a lot of things that play factor in not loosing weight. I was banded on 8/28/2009 and have lost 17 pounds since then. I was on a liquid and soft food diet for two weeks and am just now allowed to eat fish, chicken, and turkey. I would like to share my diet and how I lost 50 pounds pre op. I know that it is not easy to loose weight at all! I follow a very strict 10 carb a day diet (Whole Carb). I do not eat bread, Pasta, rice, and I am very selective on what I eat in the day. I started out at 447 pounds and it was not easy to loose the pre op weight. I drink diet tea, Water, and go to the gym walking 1 mile a day and other workouts. I drink 50 - 70 grams of Protein a day as well. It is all in the diet with this tool that we have. I hope no one takes this as I am a little person and being a smart butt because I am not. If you do not follow a strict diet you are not going to loose weight. The reason that I truly believe this is because I have a friend that had this done, loosing a lot of weight. He stopped doing what he was to be doing and gained a lot back, even with the Lapband. I told myself that this would not happen to me.

Hello All once again, I am not going to read through all the threads but how long did you take off or should I say how long was it before you went back on full duty (Street) after getting banded? I got banded on 28 August 2009 and I am going back to work Monday on light duty. Give me some insight on how the rest of my brothers and sisters in blue did their recovery time so I know how to judge things. I know that everyone is different and I am only looking for a time line. Thanks everyone!

Dr. Todd Belott - Great Doctor
Moemoe455 replied to Moemoe455's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had the greatest surgery experience with Dr. Belott and his surgery staff. They were all super nice, and helpful not only to me but my family as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Belott to anyone that is looking to have the Lap Band surgery done in Louisiana. -
Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
Moemoe455 replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday, August 28, 2009 was my surgery day. I got at the hospital at around 0600 to check in and so on. Went into my room, got into the nice robe and relaxed in the bed, nervous as all get out because I had never had surgery before. The RN came in my room and I signed some paper, then she got my BP. The Anesthesiologist came in my room and started my IV and left the room. He came back a few minutes later and gave me the shot that relaxes you. The surgery staff came into the room and got me bringing me to the OR. I got into the OR and the Anesthesiologist came in and all I remember is that the put the mask on my face and told me to breath in deep, I did it twice and I was out for the count. I do not remember the recovery room lol. I remember being being moved back to my room where my Wife and family was. I was still very loopy did not want to do anything but sleep lol. I had to get out the bed and sit in the chair to make sure that I was okay. At around 1230 they discharged me and I left to come home. I slept most of the ride home and was not hurting to bad at this point. Later in the night I started hurting really bad because of the gas. I had to sleep on my sofa because it was the only place that I could get comfortable at the time. The gas went away but I am really sore today. Overall the hospital staff at West Jefferson was the greatest, they were all very nice and cared. :frown: -

Got my date yesterday!! August 28, 2009!! -
Hello, my name is Morris I am new to this site and I am setting up to schedule my surgery on Monday. I have a few questions about fills. My Cousin did not have to get a fill after surgery until a year. Is this because their Doctor filled them during surgery? Do Doctors always not fill you until a few weeks later? Has anyone been filled during surgery and not had to go back for a while? I know a lot of questions but I need to know lol. I am going to be about 5 hours from my Doctor and not going to want the hassle to have to drive back and forth to get a first fill if it can be done during surgery. Please let me know Guys and Gals! :wink2:

Hello All! My name is Morris and I am going to schedule my surgery (Sleeve) Monday. I have a few concerns that are really bothering me about the process. I am going to go to Mexico and have my procedure done through Be light weight, Dr. Rodriguez. What happens if I come home and have trouble? Will my regular Doctor see me? I know I should check and I plan on making an appointment with my Doctor prior, but has anyone had a problem with their PCP seeing them after the surgery? Let me know!! Thanks

One more thing, I have heard people say that after time, they turn to just excess skin. Anyone had the problem? I can see if you are not active (gym). Let me know!!
