CindiLou and Meltini--- keep your head up.. I'm 6mos post op. It took 4 mos for the right fill on my band..... I agree w/ Gayle..Make sure you eat protein first, that will help keep you satisfied and hunger paynes stay away longer.. try to eat protein @ every meal (appx 5-6 meals a day) small ones of course.. Train your body to have food intake every 3 hours. My schedule is 7am 10am 1pm 4pm 7pm maybe bedtime snack..most of the time not.. so, my usual intake is 5 meals.. it really helps when your mind knows to expect food every three hours... some of my mini meals are: Zone protein bar, chicken salad with melba toast; yogurt w/flaxseed added; beef bites w/ 1oz of cheese.... all of these are very filling and hold me for appx 2-3 hrs... I hope this helps and good luck

well, I'm riding this weekend.. I've been riding since 2000... I got my hubby into riding a few years ago and now we both ride.. sometimes I like to ride B*!@# on back b/c I like to sight see.. I don't have harley, I have a yamaha v-star 1100--it's a cruiser with some extra chromage going on.. I like it-- the price (half of the price of a harley) fits my budget. I don't have any problems riding as far as the band goes.. I take water w/me in the saddle bag, so we make lots of stops and since i'm hungry every few hours, i take me a Zone Perfect protein bar or 2 and we are always looking for a place to stop & eat, because that's what we like to do.. so I share a few pieces of vittles off of my hubby's plate.. works out fine and dandy....... I hope that you all enjoy this long 3 day weekend... planning on riding on this end of Houston, TX- we rode to college station last weekend to a place in Wellborn, TX and ate and place called Hullabaloos--- best Carnegie Cheesecake and best philly cheesesteak that I've every had.. My hubby saw the place on FoodNetwork, so we had to check it out. It's a diner type establishment with add ons.. they brought the diner from NY via truck (1800 miles) Kind of a neat story and great food...

Welcome to LBT -BWD, I'm 36 yrs old and have been banded for 6mos.. I've lost 30 lbs so far.. very exciting.. no regrets here.. The incisions take about 6wks to heal... I ride motorcycles and do all sorts of activity.. I work in an office as well. You shouldn't have any problems cutting down trees and so forth. I would check with your doc. to see how long before real strenuous adtivity.. I had the surgery on a Tuesday and returned to work the next monday.. I would suggest that you sleep in a recliner of some sort for a few days after surgery.. This helped w/ the travelling gas.. some people get the gas trapped in their back or shoulder blade, which sucks- As far as the port, you can feel it if you press into your abdomen. As far as fills go, they only take about 2 minutes.. a little uncomfortable, definitely bearable.. not painful.. I hope this helps.. Good luck and feel free to ask me more questions.. later

Kim2Bhealthy, ROCK ON CHICKA! that's aweseome.. That too is a great idea about weighing monthly or every 2 wks.. I'm on the scale everyday.. still holding @ 208~~will continue weighing daily until I hit ONEDERLAND! Everyone esle, I'm so proud of you guys.. keep up the good work!

I can't eat chicken nuggets/strips.. it has something to do w/ the breading.. it swells and comes up.. same thing with onion rings.. it has to do w/ the batter-- if they are really crunchy, i can eat it.. but if it's not crunchy forget it~

Hi everyone! BANDED 11/28/06 .. LOVING IT..
-
KIM, congrats on your upcoming BEING BANDED! I have no regrets.. I had lobster for the first time since being banded over the weekend! it went down fine.. although the snowcrab was easier to eat.. It sure was good.. as far as carbonated drinks-- my doc says they can stretch out the portion above the band, that's not good.. what's the point of being banded? Now, my sister has been banded for 2.5 years... She just started drinking carbonated drinks and does fine w/it... but she has already lost all of her weight (102 lbs) She looks great! She doesn't drink them every day.. just on occassion. I'm 6 mos post op and not really wanting to try them, b/c i know that I will want them more & more.. good luck w/ that and keep us posted
-
I eat alot of salads too... the iceberg lettuce is the hardest for me romaines are easier
-
What is the sweet spot? I agree.. It took me several fills to get it right.. the last fill was 6 wks ago-- lost 9lbs.. it was really slow before.. averaging 4 lbs /month.. I had the doc do an esophogram to measure the opening.. sure enough, too large, to they increased me to 3.5cc's

Stay strong! My mom was totally against it.. I was too when my sister decided to have it done.. That was only b/c I had not researched it.. I was comparing it to the Gastric. After my sister lost 102 lbs, i was appvd by my insurance. My mom was still against it.. Although, my mom had been overweight her entire life. When she went thru a divorce she became entirely stressed out and lost about 100lbs and has kept it off for 10 yrs.. But, there again she always would say, just stop eating--push away from the table, do some excercise-- My theory is this: If God wanted us all to be same, he would dished out the same metabolism for everyone.. So, if there's something medically that we can do about, ROCK ON! Everyone's right it's our decision, but the people that are so against it are indeed the people that love us the most, b/c they don't want anything to happen to us(as a result of the surgery) --infections and being sick.. that kind of stuff--

lauraj23, you are correct.. My info says the same thing....
