  1. I recently had a .5 cc put in my 14cc band. I am now at 10.5 cc, at 10 cc, I wasn't feeling much restriction and could eat anything. Now all I can eat is liquidy food, no bread, nothing dense, and I cant even eat chicken 100% of the time. Am I too tight? I slime at every meal (except when I eat soup). Do I need to go back to basics or see my doc? I have an appt tomorrow to talk about getting .25 cc taken out. Either I am too tight or my band is very very moody. Is this just how it is?

    Advice- Am I too tight?

Update: Had my appointment this AM, due to possible inflammation, she took out an entire cc! So i am back down to 9.5 cc in my 14 cc band. I was only anticipating .25 or maybe even .50 taken out, but as discouraging as this is for me, I feel like I am taking a step backwards, I know she must have done it for a reason...

    Advice- Am I too tight?

Thank you Mona! I flip flopped between my decision to call doc, because on one hand, I am eating less and cant tell I am losing wait. On the other hand, I know it is not healthy, and know I should be eating more. So glad to hear that .25 made such a difference! I hope that is just what I need to!

Lap Band AP, 10cc or 14cc?

for those who have the 14cc band, what is your sweet spot? i just got filled with 9cc this am, and not feeling that much yet. my doc said most people hit it with 10-12cc. what is your experience?
  6. flying is my job and i dont feel a difference at all between in the air and on the ground.
  7. I had my 2nd fill last Friday. I have 8 cc in a 14cc APL band. During this whole process, I seemed to do quite well. I could eat anything, bread included and nothing bothered me. This morning I woke up and during breakfast I got stuck. (I started feeling fuller and fuller yesterday and remember during my 1st fill, my doc told me that it could take a few days after your fill for you to feel restriction.) I guess I thought I was invincible, that I would never get stuck, never have a PB or slime, etc. Well today was a wake up call for me. Back to the basics now... I finally had a PB and it came up, but boy was I miserable! I think I learned my lesson...

Lap Band AP, 10cc or 14cc?

I have the 14cc AP band, I just had my 2nd fill, and I am filled up with 8cc right now. 4cc was put in during surgery... Told by office people hit their sweet spot between 9-12cc and I should feel some restriction with the 8cc.. I feel nothing. Anyone else at this stage? I am getting discouraged by being in bandster hell.

    Can I have unprotected sex?

I was told by my surgeon that after lap band, birth control pills would not be as effective, so I should not rely on them. Has anyone else received this advice? I am seeing my OBGYN next week.
  10. I too found out at my 2 week post op (last Friday), I have a 14cc band too. I was told some Fluid was put in during surgery, which I could feel first week, but they dont know how much. When I go for my fill on the 31st, they will remove all fluid, and replace so they know how much I will actually have. They said they will do this each time. How much was your first fill? The full 6 cc?
  11. same thing happened to me. I gained around 4.5 lbs. I flipped out! I was like, Im supposed to lose weight! Not gain it! :cursing: Few days went by, and I was back to my pre-op weight. I had 2 bags as well.
  12. I am taking the entire 6 weeks. My job duties requires me of being able to lift 40 lbs, and pushing heavy carts, etc. Since I was using FMLA, my company requires a return to work note with no restrictions. Since my surgeon has a restriction of lifting no more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks... well here I am! We don't have light duty or anything unless you get hurt on the job, so I am taking my mini-vacation courtesy of Short Term Disability!

    2 1/2 weeks post op

It is so good to read such supporting comments. I lost 12 lbs pre-op and only 6 lbs post-op and my 2 weeks is today. I am too feeling discouraged. I was able to start soft foods today and I was thrilled!
  14. Hi there! We are surgery siblings! I was banded on 7/2/09 as well. I am just now being able to sleep on my tummy with no discomfort. I prefer my tummy over my sides. sleeping on my back was horrible! My incisions have healed quite nicely and I have my 2 week post op visit tomorrow! i sometimes feel my port in an uncomfortable position, usually when I am on my right side, but no problems with the tummy!
