How Much Time Off are You Planning?
skinnyBwannaB replied to Patterba's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my band put on 8/31, a Monday. Went back to work the following Monday but felt it was a bit too soon. I'm a nurse in a very busy pediatric office. Lots of walking, standing, bending and trying to hold struggling kids to give them their shots. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the time my band was done. The next week was ALOT better. -
I got my band 4 weeks ago today. I had a series of "last" meals; Mexican, Italian, Steak, Chinese, Steak again, Cheesebergers, Steak some more,...and the desserts! Yes. With every "last" meal was a fantastic dessert. Now I can hardley eat anything, but I'm melting away and it is sooooooo worth it. I eat really, really small portions since the band and my Husband is thrilled at the lower cost of going out to eat. I say have that last meal (or series). Good luck with your band!

I was banded 3 days ago, Monday Aug.31, 2009. I started walking for exercise 4 months ago and would swim afterwards to cool down. I went walking last night but not the usual 45 min, only about 20 min., was afraid to get in the pool because of the incisions. They are super-glued, but just not sure. Does anyone know how long before I can swim?

I was banded a week ago today (08/31/09) and really do not recall being told about any bedroom restrictions. We've already done it twice. No problems. -
Feeling ashamed of myself :(

I was banded a week ago. I've been eating/drinking what I can tolerate. I just love that chewing a few bites of meat is called a "slip-up", usually for me (prior to my surg last week) a "slip-up" involved a Big Mac, and a corner piece of birthday cake! LOL! -
Hey girl, What flavor is that cat? I'm getting a bit hungry myself! I was banded 4 days ago and my surgeon had the hospital nurses bring me sugar free jello and popsicles in the recovery room along with broth, iced tea and dannon liquid yogert. I say try some very small bites of pudding, or applesauce and see what happens. I took my teenager to McDonalds before school this morning and I had the yogert & fruit parfait. I just chewed that fruit like crazy before I swallowed it. That was 3 hour ago and nothing happened. Let me know if we're gonna cook the cat though cuz I'm in!!

I got banded Monday, 3 days ago. I too stepped on the scale and saw a 6lb increase from my immediate pre-op wt. I knew it was IV fluids. Haven't been on the scale since. I get alot of good info here on this site. Regarding protein drinks, I use syntrax nectar. It comes in a 2lb jug and cost around $29. My favorite flavor is caribbean cooler, it tastes like pina colada. They have alot of fruity flavors that you mix w/ juice or water so the flavor is good. One scoop in 8oz of water = 23g of protein. (no fats, carbs, or sugar) I'm not a big chocolate flavor girl either. Good luck with your progress. We can get skinny together! -

Just got banded 3 days ago, 8/31/09. Feeling better. My only advice would be to prepare for the gas pains. Have chewable gas-x on hand, and walk, walk, walk to help break up the gas. It's just loose in the abdominal cavity and you can feel it move around. It's also hard to get enough fluids in. Good luck with your surgery! We can get our skinny on together!! -
I had my surgery 3 days ago and am feeling much better with each day but was wondering if one of those abdominal support bands would help with the discomfort? Has anyone ever used this? Is it harmful in any way? Any help would be appreciated.

Proud or Ashamed?

Be PROUD!!! No looking back. It doesn't matter at all how/why you gained the wt., just that you decided to do something about it! Those 100lbs are in the past. Congratulations! -

I had my surgery 3 days ago, Aug.31. The gas is a problem, but walking helps. I am able to drink only about 4-6oz at a time, so I'm a bit concerned about being dehyrated. Sleeping laying down was painful the first night so I slept in a recliner. Last night and today was much better. Only my husband, daughters and co-workers know about the surgery because i was afraid people would be watching me too closely. I was also worried that this may fail also and I didn't want to hear that this was foolish. I'm looking forward to feeling better. No regrets.
