Dr. Ronnie Keith - Lap Band in Norman Oklahoma
okiegirl79 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hey there! I was wondering if anyone has been banded by Dr. Keith or Dr. Nelson in Norman. I live a little East of Tulsa but they are the only ones in the state that my insurance will cover. I am attending the seminar on 7/29/09 and am hoping to be banded by October! -

Wowza!! 800 calories?? That seems crazy to me!! I try not to EVER go below 1000 and stay around the 1300-1400 mark. I guess it just depends on each person!! -

I think nice and slow is the way to go...just sayin Being three years out now I really see that conservative fills and exercising really is best for the body and you will be thankful in the long run. I used to get so frustrated and felt like such a loser/failure b/c I only lost 45 pounds my first year and needed to lose twice that!! I met my goal the next year and I think my body is better for it.... -

I am hoping that does the trick as well!! ha!! She said if I started having any issues with acid then I would need to come in for a scope..I was having some "stomach" and digestion issues and my family dr did a ct scan and my lap band dr looked at it and said she saw a problem.. yes- Zumba has changed my life- more so than the band...I LOVE it!! Don't let me fool you..I have some serious issues with food and MUST exercise to maintain..I am an accoutant to I am siiting on my behind 8 hours a day!! I do not know why it is so hard to be good!! I do good a lot of the time but when I am bad I am pretty bad! I do use myfitnesspal regulary and that helps me watch my protein and calories. Cheers! Thanks for being such an amazing support system! It is so comforting knowing I have somewhere to go with people that are just like me!! -

She said it was the top of my stomach- like the pouch area (I am assuming like it may have gotten streched??). She took some fluid out and said hopefully that should take care of it...she asked if I was having any issues with acid and at the time I was not- but that has changed as of late. I know I need to call but my dr is over three hours away..ugh! My weight has been fine..I made it to goal and have stayed there..however- I exercise A LOT..I teach Zumba now so that keeps me active (even when I dont WANT to go, which can be often at times!!) -

Need some help! Stuck Stuck Stuck!
okiegirl79 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Been banded 10 months and have NEVER had this happen before. I made a loaf of freshly baked french bread for my family and after them RAVING how good it was I took a bite...I knew better... but I did it anyways. Well..it has been stuck since last night. I can drink...if I drink slowly and in small amounts. I did a search on this site and tried pineapple juice, warm liquids, jumping up and down, yoga, etc. I have not tried papya enzymes b/c I cannot find any where I live. Called the dr. and she is out on vacation...the on call dr. is supposed to call me at the end of the day. Any suggestions? This is NOT fun...pretty uncomfortable. -

Even though I thought about not posting this....it is time for my weekly check in. My first week I lost two punds (yay) and week two....drumroll...I GAINED two pounds!! It is my own fault...I was not feeling well all week with a cold type thing and waht do I do...reach for comfort foods. I did manage to ride my bike a couple of times for an hour each..but that was it. Why do I sabotage myself like that? I WILL do better this week. Glad to see everyone doing so well. -

Wow..that is really encouraging. Thanks!! Rowing sounds fun... I am studying for the CPA exam and I have some study material downloaded on my ipod-so I can listen to the material while I bike...I do love aerobics!!! I think I could def. use a small fill but the last time I had a fill she put too much in and I couldn't even get down liquids. She took it back out. My docs office is three hours away..so it is a challenge to get there as often as I would like. I currently have 5.8 cc's in a 10 cc band. -

Hello, 10/14/2009 here... I have only lost 45 pounds and have 45 punds to go until my goal. Talk about slow!! I hope to lose another 15 before my one year check up and I would love to join your group. Let me ask you this...gove me some examples of your daily menus. I need some ideas for lunches and dinners. Per my doctor's request I do a protein shake in the morning...but get burned out sometimes for the other meals. -
Thinking about a small unfill
okiegirl79 replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got on to ask a very similar question when I read your post. I got my 4th fill last week bringing me to 6.4 in my 10 cc band. I know everyone os different- but I am thinking that I need a baby unfill. I cannot eat very much at all and as long as I am eating softer things I am okay. If I try to eat hamburger meat or chicken I get stuck after just a couple of baby bites. Most foods that I would eat at a typical meal I cannot eat...I have to eat softer things. So the question is for me...what exactly is the sweet spot and how can I tell if I need a little unfill. -
Well, every doctor is different so you have to follow YOUR doctor and I would definitley check with the dietician or dr. before opening that. Yes..I use 1 scoop of protein powder-8ozs. water/skim milk-1/2 banana-2 T natural peanut butter-and ice and that is my shake. Some just mix their protein powder with liquid and shake it up and that is a "shake" I just don't like them that way so I have always blended them and my doc and dietician was fine with it.

PROTEIN - Shakes vs Solid Food
okiegirl79 replied to Drasan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where do you get Matrix? I do the exact same shake but with Isagenix Isalean shake mix. It is a bit pricey and you have to get it from a distributor so if Matrix is easier to obtain than I would definitley like to check into it. I drink one most days for breakfast..I am too tight to eat anything also. Must be why the surgeon is so big on protein shakes for breakfast. -
I forgot to tell you... You asked about additional protein... One thing that I have recently found... thanks to my doctor.. are these soy snacks (for when you get to this point in your diet) they are called Proti Soy Snax and they have 110 calories and 15 grams of protein- The bbq ones are really yummy. They look like Kix cereal and taste like those firesticks (just not as spicy). I have a hard time finding ANY protein that I like..or can choke down without gagging. I have spent a small fortune on different types of protein. I do like Isagenix Isalean shakes. They are yummy when made into a smoothie with water-a little banana-and a little peanut butter. I actually look forward to them. One thing that I am going to try...Isopure Zero carb clear protein drinks. I heard the grape is good and you can add a little CL lemonade. Take care and good luck!!!
-
Your right..it was clear liquids at first but I could have protein shakes. When I got off clear liquids into full liquids I also liked the soup-in-the-hand creamy chicken soup. It actually was filling and didn't taste bad at all. I could drink them from my desk at work.

Barilla Plus pasta....
okiegirl79 replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love love love it. My family likes it too and we eat it probably once a week. My doctor is totally fine with it and I have had no problems with eating it thus far. I like that it has an extra little kick of protein plus whatever meat you add to it! Banded 10/14/09 -
As soon as you are off your pain meds you should be able to drive no problem. I was banded on a Wednesday and was back to work on Monday. I liked to eat SF popscicles (sp?) after surgery..I was so sick of pudding I have not eaten any to this day! The hot chicken and beef broth was good too! Good luck with surgery! Banded 10/14/09

Is constipation a problem for anyone else?
okiegirl79 replied to ningha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 6.8 in a 10 cc band and have never had problems taking any pills. I take a reg fish/flax and do fine with it. I guess everyone and every doc is different. Ducolax works pretty well and is really gentle. I have to take it often. -
me too... i just had surgery last wednesday. just went in for outpatient they took it out and i came rihgt home! the surgery was similar to lap-band except that crazy belly button incision that hurt like crazy... good luck and keep us posted!
