    Support group in ENid

Maggie-Hey! I am from the Tulsa area and looking for a support group in this area. There is really nobody I even know that has had wls except those I have met in this forum. A local accountability meeting would be nice. Jaci- I am having surgery in a couple of weeks in Norman and I know they have support group meetings in Norman and Enid....it is just to far for me to drive. Let me know and I will give you the info!
  3. Is there anybody out there that has Dr. Lana Nelson? I thought Dr. Keith was my surgeon but just found out Dr. Nelson was...which I am fine with!
  4. Does anyone know of anyone that has failed this or been denied due to this test? I wonder how long it takes to clear the blood? I have quit for about a month or so, but slipped a little over the weekend. I wonder when it will be safe for me to pass the blood test? I have passed all of my insurance requirements 6 month pre-op diet, psych eval, dietetic consult, etc. My insurance called me this morning and told me I was approved...yaaayyyy...but I am scared about being denied for the blood test that I will probably have to take next week. I can't beleive I did that this weekend....I could seriously KICK myself! Anybody???

    1 October Surgrey

Hey! I am not 100% sure, but I am aksing for October 1. When are you planning on returning to work? I work in accouting/finance and was hoping to be banded on Thursday and back on Monday.
  6. Hi! I am scheduled for my pre-op psych eval on Wednesday 8/26 and was wondering what kinds of questions do they ask and what is the goal of the "session"? I know everyone probably has a variation, but I was curious of what was in store for me! Thanks everyone!
  7. You know, I have no idea. It seems people have such vast differences as to what they had to do in each of their "sessions" it seems some have had a comprehensive in depth "exam" while others just "chatted" for 15 minutes or so. I have no clue as to what it is that they are looking for. I have yet to hear about mine, so I guess we will see!
  8. I am so sorry to hear that! I have been worried about how mine went. I guess you never know. A friend of mine at work-her brother had rny and had to go to several sessions before they gave him the green light. I guess we can just take this time to work on all of oureslves instead of just the physical....mind-body-spirit to ensure ultimate success! Keep your head up.....
  9. Well good luck with that! I finally had my psych/diet consults last week now I am waiting on insurance for the rest. Hopefully next week we will be ready to roll! Hope all goes well, let me know how your appointment goes!
  10. Okay...sorry about the signature....I am trying to do my ticker!
  11. Hey there! I am feeling anxiety too...I am hoping for surgery in September and keep thinking to myself "am I doing the right thing?" You are on the right track by educating yourself and drawing support from those with experience. I am just hoping the time goes by quickly while I am waiting!!! :w00t:
  12. Great! Thanks for all of the replies! I don't even know why I am wondering about it so much! I am just so anxious about everything!
  13. Wow...I am so sorry that you had to go thru that! How long to you have to have your band off after something like that? I guess it doesn't matter which doctor I have. I went to a support group meeting (mandatoy) on Saturday. Now I am just waiting for my initial consult....keep me posted on how you are doing!

    Christian bandsters

Hello everyone! I was excited to see a group of beleivers sharing about their lap band experiences! I have been through my 6 month insurance requirement and am now waiting on the surgeon's office. THEY ARE SSSSOOOO SLOW! Anyway, hoping to be banded in late September early October. Blessings!
  15. Hi there Renee! Wow, band erosion...that is one of the things that scares me about getting a band. How did you know that happend? Did Dr. Keith find that? Is it easy to do it again after that has happend? I have not quite decided yest if I want Dr. Keith or Nelson. They sure are slow about calling me to come in for an initial consult. I have already met my insurance requirements and have been waiting for them to call me since the seminar on 7/29. I am just anxious I guess....but let's go already!
  16. I have not been banded yet, waiting for all of the hoops to come around so I can jump through them...lol. I have done protein shakes before, and I really like the Isalean shakes made by Isagenix. They are a bit pricey but cheaper than buying a bunch and throwing them away! I have tried several and am hoping that my surgeon says it is okay for shake portion. I guess it is a matter of taste...I tried Muscle Milk before and the Muscle Milk Light and I did not like them.
  17. Hey! How did the seminar go? I am still waiting to hear from them to schedule my first pre-op appointment. They said it cna take two weeks for them to contact the insurance and I am hoping to move this along! My last visit for my 6 month requirement with my pcp is the first of September and the insurance told me to go ahead and fullfill all of the requirements from OWLA. I was hoping to have it all done by my last pcp appointment so we can send it all in to insurance. Who are you choosing to do the surgery? Do you have a preference of lap band vs. Realize Band? Okay...enough questions! :wink2:

    Confused

Hey there! I have dealt with a lot of the same feelings going back and forth about which is a better option. It seems to me that the band is much safer and produces the same if not better long term results. I think that you have to "follow the peace" think about each option and do what you feel more peaceful about. What is right for you may not be right for your neighbor. Good luck and keep me posted! I am hoping to be banded in late September/early October.:tongue2:
