I am going into my 2nd week after surgery & have begun eating mushy foods. I have noticed that I can only eat 3 TBS to 1/2 cup of any mushy food & then I am stuffed full. I typically have to eat 1/4 cup & then go back to finish the other 1/4 cup 45 min to an hour later so that I have some nourishment for the day. Has this happened to anyone else? My band was placed with no initial fill. Don't get me wrong - I like it this way , because I don't feel like I am starving to death, but I would like to hear about others experiences that are similar to mine. Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can get fills here in Houston after my surgery is completed (Sept 1st) in Mexico (Dr. De La Garza)? I am self pay and I have heard the fills are between $150 - $600. Of course $150 sounds so much better :huggie: Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Hi Lori, Welcome! I was raised in Katy - now I live in Bear Creek. Anyway, I have been banded for 2 1/2 weeks & I love it! They say that losing any weight during the first 6 weeks (healing phase) is a bonus & I have lost 15 lbs - BONUS!! YEAH! I am not starving to death like I thought I would be on the liquids and mush/soft foods. I have not had any problems either. I chose the lap band because I did not want to permanently alter my digestive system. This procedure is minimally invasive and there is minimal pain afterwards. There are some people on lapbandtalk that have had problems, pain, nausea etc. but I have not. Good luck on your decision and you insurance. My insurance specifically excludes weight loss surgery, so I went to Monterrey MX for mine. So far, it has been worth every penny!

I was not required to go on a pre-op diet. Sadly, I even ate half a goat leg & 3 shots of tequila & 1 beer about 18 hours before surgery....my bad... I did make sure I drank over 1/2 gallon of water that evening to "flush" out my lunch!! I just couldn't "NOT" have tequila in Mexico -
I'm scheduled for surgery on Sept 1st in Monterrey. I have not been told to be on a liquid fast prior to surgery. The instructions say to eat lightly the day before & not to eat after midnight. What is the benefit of fasting prior to surgery? Someone enlighten me please! Thanks!

That is strange. You would think he would want me to fast considering my size! 295 lbs. - not that I want to

Cloe, I'm scheduled for surgery on Sept. 1st and all I can think about is what type of emotional issues am I going to have once I can't have my food? What am I gonna do when I can't sit down in front of the TV with a plate of food (and then some) and eat until I am stuffed? I think maybe OA would be a good option - it's the one I was thinking of doing myself. BTW - I was 26 with 3 kids once and incidentally my oldest daughters name is Chloe... what a pretty name
