  1. Hi, I hope someone out here can give me some good advice right now because I feel miserable. I went for my fifth fill today putting me at about 7.5 CC's. My last fill I could feel restriction for about two weeks and it let up a bit. I could still eat more than I wanted to. So, I go for my fill today (.75 CC's) and the nurse had to take out .25 CC's in order for me to get a sip of water down. I leave the office and here comes all of this foamy stuff in my chest and throat. I have been spewing this all day long and still can't really drink much if anything. I called the Dr. office and they want me to wait a day to see if it improves due to the swelling my stomach has right now due to the fill. I just don't know what I can do to relieve my misery until tomorrow. I am tired of spitting!!! Any suggestions anyone???

    The sweet spot has arrived!

Do you know how glad I am to hear you say that??? I was wondering about you. I too have been avoiding visiting the website because I had my surgery on the 13th also and have only lost 38 lbs!!!! I got my fill on Jan. 4th and am definitely feeling a difference. I say this with caution but I "think" I may have my sweet spot also. Although today was different. I have been able to eat more than any day since my fill. If this isn't my sweet spot, I have an appt. in Feb. that should get me there. I say all that to tell you Thank You and I am very proud of your success. Keep going and don't worry about anyone else because we all are different and I know everyone here is rooting for us. They have been in our shoes at some point. Take Care.
  3. Hey Everyone, I wanted to ask some of you experienced banders if it is normal to not feel much if any restriction after the first fill. I am contemplating calling the Doc on Monday if this is not normal. I can eat a good amount before feeling full. I am sticking to 1200 cals a day and have lost 20 lbs since surgery date on 7/13 but am worried that my old habits of overeating will rear it's ugly head. I do take this very seriously and have fended off hunger by drinking lots of water. Anyone felt this way after your first fill?

First Fill on 8/20- 5 CC's and not much restriction

Yeah, I have found some older posts that say that it does take a few fills for the Sweet Spot. So, I plan to start exercising more this week and watching the calories. Thanks for the encouragement. BTW, when were you banded?

    I'm pissed at my doc@

Just get back on the horse. you will be fine. BTW, how are you doing with rice? I have stayed away from it because of Dr. handouts naming it as food that could cause problems.

    What a fabulous weekend!

That is wonderful that you got to spend time with the hubby. Sometimes we need to do just do things like that. The puppy is gorgeous!!! I am so glad to hear you talk about not feeling too restricted. We had our surgeries around the same day and I was not sure if it was me but I have definitely been able to eat more than 1/4 cup of food at a time. I can eat about a cup of food and sometimes 1 1/2 depending on the food. I am going into soft foods this week and am nervous about gaining weight. I have lost 15 lbs since surgery date and am very excited about it. I DON'T want to gain any back! As far as the BM, mine are pretty normal at this point but I did have a few rough days last week with diarreah. Glad it's over. BTW, I am getting my first fill on Aug. 19th. When are you getting yours? Thanks for posting your thoughts.

    Soul Searching

Hello Fellow Bandsters, I wanted to share some things I have been going through this last week. I was banded on July 13th and have been very excited about it since. However, I am also using this time to face some tough issues that I have not been able to do on my own. I decided to do the surgery to force myself into facing my demons. I have used food to comfort me, to lift my spirits or to just celebrate a monumental moment in my life or someone close to me. Prior to surgery, I started to understand that my relationship with food had become unhealthy. In social situations with food, I had anxiety about whether I would get enough to satisfy me and not embarrass myself with a heaping plate. I would sometimes eat snacks prior to going so I didn't look like a pig. Now that I have the lap band, I am doing some soul searching and re-evaluating my relationship with food and it's purpose in my life now. I have been experiencing some mild anxiety about food because I am still in the liquid portion of the diet but nothing I have not been able to handle. I am definitely ready for scrambled eggs or something with substance. My goal is to make food a tool to help sustain a healthy body. I am not saying I have arrived there yet but this is my goal and I will continue to put myself in situations where this is the case. Does anybody out there relate to this or has achieved this? I am interested to hear back from anybody with any great input. Thanks for listening.

Day 7---- hmmmm nothing special happened

You are too funny!!! I have been doing more burping, Thank God! I definitely relate to the bra thing. I was a little nervous about wearing one coming home from the hospital. How are your incisions doing? All of mine are doing great except the one with the port. Do you sleep on your sides yet? I can sleep comfortably on my right side but not so much on my left. Good to see you are keeping a sense of humor.

  16. Hello Vamag, That is great that your insurance will cover 100% of the surgery. Just do the diet for 6 months and go for it! I waited almost a year before getting my approval. I was banded on 7/13/09 and have been so excited since. I had never been put under before and was incredibly nervous about it. They have these wonderful drugs to help you relax prior to surgery. Once in the OR, it is just a minute or two and then you are out like a light and will not remember a thing. It will be fine. Good luck to you!

    Darkest Before the Dawn

I hope today is better for you. I struggled all this week when our church home group brought in meals for my family all week. I am big on italian and pork roast with BBQ and wouldn't you know that all but one meal fell into that category??? Anyway, it did help me because first of all, I couldn't eat it even if I wanted to and it made me realize that my relationship with food has been unhealthy for a long time and this is my time to work on that and make better decisions for my health. You are going to enjoy the reward of your decisions. Good luck to you. I Joined the day before your surgery and was glad to see you online soon after. I had mine on Monday the 13th. Look forward to sharing ideas and thoughts. Take care.

Day 6---- I FINALLY GOT ALL MY WATER IN!

That is great! I have been struggling to get all mine in. I broke down today because I am getting hungry and ate 2 oz. of mashed potatoes. Is that bad? I was told liquid for the first 7 days but I have been reading different posts and it seems depending on your surgeon, your dietary requiremements are different. I do need more protein. I have to step that up!

    The beginning of my journey

Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention that I am allergic to artificial sweeteners. That creates a little bit of a challenge. I have been trying to shy away from sugar based liquids as much as I can.

    The beginning of my journey

Hello All, I started my Lap Band journey on Monday of this week. (July 13,2009). I am so excited about how my life will improve. I am starting to feel better and better each day that passes. I am on day 4 of the liquid diet and not really bothered by it too much. I am sure by the end of the week I will be wanting something with texture. I have been sticking to water, chicken broth, apple juice and boost. Any other options for liquid diet? I am excited about being a bandster! MPartain Tallahassee, Fl. Hello Knrpick, When did you have your surgery? It sounds like we had ours on the same day. I did mine on Monday, July 13th. I too am starting to feel hunger today but not too bad for now. I have been drinking Boost to help with the protein but am thinking I will check out Isopure as Utahchick suggested. I am so excited about this journey!!! I wish you lots of luck and look forward to hearing from you on the blog.
