I read your post JC and made an appointment with Kathy Gonzales is at Millennium Medical in St. Petersburg and I agree with you that she is great. I also liked the fill centers price of $299 with floro. I had it previous with Dr, Jesse and with floro it came to $750, plus with fill center it will be even cheaper the next time $155 for fill and $75 for floro.. Kathy seemed so caring and took that extra time with you that shows that she cares, Awesome fill...

Hang in there! I was like you and thought that I would drop weight and just not really have to watch things but believe me after the fills it does get better and doesn't feel like dieting. You are just happy with a whole lot smaller amount than before. I eat whatever I want but just smaller amounts but over all I think that I really eat healthier also. I haven't been able to exercise and I just had knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago but looking forward to when I can to speed things up a bit. But slow is good and sure as heck beats gaining... good luck it will all come together for you in a little while..

Good luck to all of you that are being banded in February! I think many of us feel that this is one of the best decisions we have ever made. I feel free from that constant put down my mind does to me.... Best wishes...

2 years gone by, only 55 lbs gone...
Jadedlady1 replied to Band-aid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It sounds as if you may need a fill since you say that you are able to eat more, I have read that due to shrinkage around the band of fat that you may need a fill even if the fill that you had months ago was right at the time. Good luck with finding the solution. -
Couple banded 11 mos ago!
Jadedlady1 replied to sandsaustin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to the both of you. This is a great site. I can't help you with special food as I can eat most anything (except rice) as long as I go slow and chew it to death. There is a lot of good info here and this site helped me decide to be banded which was the best gift I could have ever given myself. -
stephanie. Your post was good but on a thread about port placement. Good luck with your surgery and it will be ok. I feel this was the best thing I have every did for myself. Best wishes

Were You Prescribed Pills Post-Op...
Jadedlady1 replied to texas2penn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck researching... Best thing I have ever done for myself besides education.... Nothing was prescribed for me but I was given some pain pills and drops when released from hospital. Go for it! -
I get them a few minutes after I finish eating and it will go for about 4- 5 times then stop. I just figure it is normal.

Hi Lanie. I also got 2.5cc on my first fill and I have a 4cc band. I pb occasionally and it is usually when I don't chew enough. I find if I am around anyone sometimes I am talking and forget to chew. I do not go on liquids but wait about 5 -10 min then have my meal just being sure I chew. I find that dry foods hurt like dry chicken breast etc but some soft things like chili will let you eat more than I think we should have. With this fill I absolutely cannot drink with a meal so keep that in mind. Hang in there, It's all good it means the band is working...

You go girl! congratulations!!!

I did a liver/ gallbladder cleanse about a year ago which was before banding. When I had my ultrsound prior to banding of my gallbladder the Dr. said there were no stones or anything. I have been thinking about doing it again since so many people have gallbladder trouble after weight loss.

Best wishes and heal fast. Show us the pics

Banded in August 2006 and was able to eat pizza when released to solids however small bites chewed forever and definetely no liquids with it. After my 1st fill I can only eat almost 1 slice but the desire for pizza is not there like before. But that is a good thing since DH and I use to eat a large between us with pitcherof beer. Now it is like 4 ounces of beer before served and 3/4 small slice of pizza as meal

gonna get my band filled ! I'm nervous.
Jadedlady1 replied to virginia's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Virginia, I got a fill two weeks ago and it did not hurt. I had liquids for 24 hrs, mushies for 24 hrs then regular foods. Floro is barium that you swallow then it is viewed with a floroscope which shows your insides and if you get to look at it like I did you can see the barium in the little pouch then dropping thru the band area. They insert the saline asit drops thru so they can determine how much saline they want to put in. Good luck By the way the weight is really dropping since the fill. -
Hi Pelorojo, I felt no restriction and could eat a lot. Had only lost one lb in 3 weeks. I had a fill last monday 25th and have lost 7 lbs since then. I received 2 cc on my first fill and I have great restriction right now. Hang in there all will be fine when you get restriction.

Congratulations Sueol, Onward to your new life.....

Hi Sherilynn, Welcome to bandland. I take my pills by biting them into several pieces and taking them with a swallow of coffee or protein drink. I have not had any problems doing it this way. Bite and swallow fast though they don't taste very good.

Jackye, Dr. Rumbault and his staff are great... I think I have to pay a little more for my fills here in Central Florida because of being banded in Mexico but I feel it was worth it to be banded by one of the best there is.
-
Congratulations to you too Rita on reaching onederland. I can't wait to get there hopefully by New Years...

B12 gives some people energy. Most of us if we are eating our protein first should be getting B12 as it is in meat. If that is your source of protein. You can buy it at health food stores and it usually is sublingual where you put it under your tongue to disolve.

Has Anyone Had To Self Pay For Their Surgery I Could Use Some Advice!!!
Jadedlady1 replied to apinksoprano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi pink, I had mine (self-pay)in Mexico with Dr. Rumbault and it was 10,600 which did not cover air fare. I had to find a fill Dr. in Florida which is pricey or fly back to Mexico for $100 fills. Dr. was great though. I did a home equity loan to pay for mine. Good luck!!! -
Hi Ladyred, The reason you are not to drink during your meals and soon after is so that the band can do its work and keep you feeling full for a while. If you drink it will wash the food on down to your (other stomach) and you will be hungry sooner. It seems as if the place you are going is pro bypass however studies that I have read say that over the long haul the lapband is just as or even more successful than bypass and a whole lot nicer to your system. Of course there are risks with all but less with the band and if all else fails it is reversable and the bypass is not. Keep the faith and go ahead with your lapband if you feel that is what YOU want. Not what others want. Go for it and we will see you in lapband land.
