  2. Happy 45th Birthday supermom67!

  3. I have lost 30 pounds since 7/16 - and I am happy to say transitioning to a size 14 = yay (I started off as a 20) - I get happy over pants sizes instead of the scale these days :scared2:
  4. So I just finished three weeks - and I am excited to say I am eating out.... This past week I have had to eat out for work and I am so happy to report - it was awesome: Romano's macaroni Grill - thought it would be torture - NOPE chicken Toscana Soup - 1 cup 220 calories - 13g of Protein ! DELISH! Baja Fresh - Cup of Tortilla Soup - 300 calories - 11g of protein - awesome! Soup Plantation - Vegetarian Chili - perfect! And I'm still losing weight without being a social pariah. If you have favorite dishes at some restaurants - please post them here - my boyfriend is a 6 foot tall marathon runner who weighs 150 and loves to eat out - I am so glad to know - I don't have to eat in solitude! Yeah BABY! :scared2::tt1: supermom

    Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

    surgery day weight 242 weight today 8/6/09 - 224.5
  6. My two closest friends both had gastric bypass - the first 5 years ago - she lost 150 pounds and has had all the skin removal - brazilian butt lift etc... she really wanted me to have surgery - she did too much plastic too fast and she has problems with chronic pain - when she first lost weight she was happy and energetic - but now she is crabby and tired all of the time. My other friend had gb almost two years ago and has lost all her weight and then some - she has changed - become a little ridiculous in her Quest to be "young again" behaving a little immature in her relationships. It saved her life - but she lost her mind. I knew I didn't want GB - my friends are biased and it feels almost competitive - Of the three of us - I was the "smallest" big girl. When we would get together it's all they talked about and suddenly we had nothing to say. I am in a longterm relationship with someone who loves me fat or thin and they are single so there seems to be alot of bitterness. I don't expect weight loss to be a magical pill that will "fix" me - my reasons for overeating and getting to this point didn't magically disappear. My issues will still be my issues. The beginning of this journey is just that a beginning. Since I had my surgery I've received a text here or there but they haven't been by. My "thin" friends have been super supportive have called and came by to hang out with me. They have been very encouraging and positive and happy for me. Not at all what I expected. My hope is with my new confidence and my new perspective I will meet new people that I share common interests with - that I don't fade in the background as the fat chick in the room.
  7. Thanks for the friend request. I never could have imagined how helpful this board could be!

I'll be glad when I can........

Re: I'll be glad when I can........ permalink _ Keep up with my boyfriend and my kids on a day outing _ Get in the pool or jacuzzi without worrying who's around in our complex _ Go shopping at regular stores and buy things I like instead of what fits. _ Put on my red high heel pumps without my back hurting from the extra weight. - Let my photographer boyfriend take some amazing pics of me _ Go shopping with my girlfriends, trying on clothes, instead of alone since I'm ashamed of my size. _ Go dancing at a regular dance club instead of a BBW club where the bigger is better and I am being hounded by chubby chasers who think of me as a "fetish" __________________

    Anyone banded on 7/16...

I had my post-op appt today and since the 16th I have lost 11 pounds. I actually feel good - on day seven I started mushies. Cottage cheese - Yogurt - Scrambled eggs - I feel great - I am doing a Protein shot in the morning and then eat a couple of times a day. I am not really hungry - but my mouth wants a different taste. I need variety. Today I looked up at 6 pm and realized I had forgotten to eat since noon (not good). I am still sore at my port site whe I sit in one position too long. Took the kids to the mall today for a little over an hour and felt okay - there are days when I have definitely pushed my self too far. I am scheduled for an adjustment on the 17th, but right now I feel great. My kid is in the kitchen baking a cake and although I was dying to lick the spoon with the batter - I didn't. I have been through too much to get here. I put a pair of pants on that haven't fit me for two years now - so I am motivated! I wish you all the luck - ask your doctor if you can move on. Each person is different.:smile2:
  10. My doctor would give me up to 4 weeks off if I need it. Her philosophy is more towards your whole recovery. She wants you to settle in and get accustomed to your new body and lifestyle for long term success. I am slated to go back on August 3rd (about 2 weeks and 3 days out). Last week I was so tired and sore, this week I am feeling great, but noticed when I get tired or "do too much" it affects me. Your body needs time to adjust to any surgery. If you go back too soon you will prolong your recovery - your well being comes first! As an HR professional - if you must go back - get your doctor to release you with restrictions (frequent breaks - light duty - reduced schedule etc.) This covers your rights as an employee as well as giving you some wiggle room if you hit a rough patch.

    Post Op Foods, Phase 3

Is Tuna part of mushies? I didn't think so, I was afraid, but definitely craving it! I have had scrambled eggs (very soft) - cottage cheese, nonfat frozen yogurt, tomato Soup with a teaspoon of non-fat ricotta - Anderson's Pea Soup (vegetarian version in non-fat) - I tried to puree some foods I like - YUCK! Cream of chicken soup - would love to have chili for the flavor, but I'm not that adventurous yet. Ordered some great after surgery recipe books scheduled for delivery Tuesday. I have to be able to cook for the family and myself so I am looking for menus and recipes that can be altered for me as well. My family eats pretty healthy since I have been watching what I eat for months pre-op. I would love to start a recipe exchange! SuperMom67

    Different types of protein?

You can get Body Choice Protein Shots from costco in berry and Orange Sunshine Flavors - each shot is 25g of protein and they are concentrated so the shot is only 2.9 fl oz. They are $19 for a twelve pack - I start each day so I get off to a good start on meeting my protein requirements. Taste ok , but I notice I feel better when I start off this way in the beginning of the day. Of course there's also Isopure which comes in a bunch of flavors (40g of protein) they are all fruity and not bad if you drink them really cold. I am currently looking for some high protein broth - if you know where to get it let me know!
  15. From my referral to a surgeon to the actual date of my surgery I jumped through hoop after hoop it took over 10 months.... I went in fully prepared and conisder myself lucky. My sister got gastric bypass with little or no wait and like you started off on the wrong foot - although she initially lost a decent amount of weight, she has since gained back 80 pounds hse lost and then 40 extra. It is a lifestyle change. My biggest test was Friday when I cooked fo rmy family for the first time - spaghetti and meatsauce and I am still on a liquid diet. It is hard - it is not so much my "hunger" but the fact that I am tired of the taste of liquid Proteins that makes it difficult, but I also know I want to live. I am 42 - My 35 year old sister passed in January from being overweight and dying in her sleep from heart failure. Just some food for thought.
