  1. I won't go into a long story (banded 2009) but, I was filled around the 1st of January. Had to go back about 3 days later for a sligh unfill, cause I couldn't keep liquids down. Did fine until about 3 days ago. Somehow, my band seems to have tighten up on me big time! Yesterday morning coffee with cream was a no go. It hurt to drink or eat. My stomach felt bubbly so I took gas x an decided to let my band "rest". Last night, I had chicken broth with a tiniy bit of instant potatoes to slightly thicken it. It went down just fine. This morning I am having MiO Water and am not hungry yet. I really would like to stay away from going to the doc; so I am putting myself on liquids for a few days. My question is: Have you ever been about to stay away from the doc by letting your band "rest". Thanks so much, in advance. Susan
  2. Happy 50th Birthday sdpressl!

  3. Try to make this quick. 2.5 years post op. Had fill on Friday. Did okay till Monday. Had something get stuck somewhat. Put myself back to mushy stuff yesterday, now to liquids today. Nothing has come up today, but I have only had about 4 oz of liquids today and that's it. Each time I sip, it hurts for a while and then will go down. Should I try to wait this out? Thank you all, your advise is beyond measure! Susan
  4. I'm 2 years out from surgery. I've not loss half my weight, yet. Had some minor issues, but now resolved. I feel restriction and am doing Jazzercize. My doc will stop dealing with WLS patients at the end of this year. I loved my doc, but am disappointed with his decision, even though it was not completley his decision to do this. (his partner bailed on him) My question is: do I need to go ahead and find another doc now? I am /will be self-pay. I don't want to have to go in unless I really need to. . . . . .sigh. Thanks, in advance, for any input.
  5. Happy 49th Birthday sdpressl!

  6. Okay, I'm too tight and I know that. Going to doc for sligh unfill today. But I'm curious, when I vomit (and I've ONLY had ice chips!) why is it so frothy/bubbly? Sorry if you are grossed out. Thanks!
  7. I am 2 years and 3 months post op and the same exact thing. Lost 40lbs, need to lose 50 more. My doc tightened my band slowly, so I haven't lost quickly. This past summer I was at a good spot and losing around 1/2 lbs a week consistantly. All of a sudden I had a problem. (I had taken a bite of grits) On day 3 of not being able to keep liquids down, I called the doc. Completely deflated band at the end of August. Started reinflation, under flouro, in October. Took it slow. . .again! Finally Jan. 3rd, I got the fill that was perfect. I was happy. Then, I got too hungry this past Friday afternoon, ate a chex mix and stuff started downhill. I kept not many liquids down on Saturday, but by Sunday I could keep down some liquids. Monday, liquids and some soup. (But, I did NOT push it) Today, I had a boost for breakfast, tried to eat some very mushy mashed potatoes for lunch and (as I type this) and suffering a little from that.(They will not go down without a fight. ) The good news is that I don't feel hungy and don't want food. I'm not going to call the doctor, because as long as I can keep liquids down, I'm okay with that. Good luck to you, I'm hoping to finally be at goal by end of this summer.
  8. I had an episode (caused by grits!!) and I had to get unfilled. OMG! I miss my fill! I can eat anything. I realize how much my brain can "make me" eat. September 12th is my re-fill date, because my docs vacation and my schedule. I MUST try to do this on my own for a few weeks. Please, God, let me not gain 20lbs 'till I get filled. . . . .trust me, you don't know how much you miss something 'till it's not there. The band is awesome and I will count the days until I get filled.
  9. I have hit ONEderland for the first time in 25 years. :) :) . .no one could possibly understand how good this feels. I was banded in 11/09 and it took me this long to loose 50lbs. . . I have 50 more to go. I ate grits on Saturday and by Sunday I was not holding down much of anything, including the Clear liquids. Tried to tough it our myself, (stayed on clear liquids for 2 days) but realized I was vomiting A LOT, so I called my doc. He's a very careful surgeon and decided to deflate me and let me heal. He will put some back in on Sept. 12th under flouro. Please say a pray for me that I don't blow up like a ballon till then. It took us almost a year to find the "sweet spot" and now it's gone. Fortunetly, I'm smaller and I feell like walking/jogging more, so I hope I will stay close to ONEderland. This has NOT been an easy journey, but I'd walk EVERY SINGLE STEP AGAIN, to get these 50lbs gone. Now, to go to the other half of the race. (hugs!) Susan
  10. Sorry, I misspelled longest.
  11. but, I did this (after eating grits) 2 months ago with the same effect. The effect a couple of months ago lasted 3 to 4 days. Called the surgeion on a Friday, made and appointment on Monday, but was all better by Sunday. This time, same thing. Not able to hold down too much. Not trying ANYTHING but Clear liquids. Taking some gasx. I'm hoping this goes away by tomorrow. The only reason I am waiting 'till tomorrow is that I am 1lb away from ONEderland. Let me tell you that, I haven't been in ONEderland in 25 years! (sorry, but I'm just too excited by that) Anyway, I keep checking my skin for dehydration. Other than that, I'm feeling okay. So, (sorry it's such a long post) what was your longest "episode"? Did you have to call the surgeion? What was the outcome? (hugs) Susan
  12. want to rush to the doc for a swollen band. You people are AWESOME and I really appreciate your valuable time! Susan
  13. Have you have pain/sickness that lasted a couple of days? Did you ever figure out what it was?
  14. Thank you so much! I just tried to eat some beef broth Soup and so far, so good! I'm taking it slow and easy. Maybe it was the warm liquid that helped? I don't know, I just didn't want to have to go to the doctor!!! I'm going to take it easy. You are so sweet, thank you again.
  15. I'm 18 months banded with good restriction. Yesterday, I tried to eat a bite of a Krystal Burger. (a small burger with a dinner roll type bun) I know I shouldn't try bread, but was hungry. I took small bites and chewed really good. Of course, it got stuck. I was in a vehicle at the time, so I suffered and did not throw up. Never did eat any lunch and later in the day has some baked cheetos as a small snack. They went down okay. That evening (I'd eat nothing since the cheetos) I had a glass of wine and barely got it down. I had two "episodes" where I threw up the wine. I didn't eat supper and went to bed. This morning. I did drink 1/2 of a small glass of watered down OJ, 1/4 cup coffee and am now drinking crystal light. Still nothing to eat and have had a couple of "episodes" this morning. My stomach hurts, but not unbareable. My last adjustment was 3 months ago and has been just fine since. I do know that when you vomit your band can swell some. My question is: Is this just swelling? or (God forbid!) slippage. I'm wondering if I stay on liquids if it will "work itself out". I realize I could call the Dr., but don't want to have my band deflated, if possible. Thank you for your valuable time, Susan
