Doing horrible on the pre-op diet...Anyone else?
WhyW8 replied to LAURIE290's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there. Just think of how much easier it'll be to get on the floor to play with your kids, bike with them, keep up with them. -
any one having trouble medical records????
WhyW8 replied to toribug1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you go to that drs office yourself? Call ahead and tell them you'll be picking up the records YOURSELF. Make sure they're ALL there. You can fax them, send them in the mail, or take them to your surgeon's office yourself. Sometimes we just have to do things ourselves to make sure they get done. Good luck. -
today I began my 2 week pre-op diet. While on the internet, trying to keep my mind off of FOOD, I came across an informative video of an actual lap band procedure. let me tell you, that's enough to make me want to reduce my lilver size before surgery!!!! One day down.......

WhyW8 replied to Daria77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

starting diet/still waiting on psych report
WhyW8 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm starting 2 week pre-op diet today--700 calorie--40 gr carbs. Not looking forward to headaches and fatigue b/cause I also have to exercise 30 minutes a day! (I'm in physical therapy from a knee injury and HAVE to go at least 3x's a week so i cant cheat on working out) That being said, I"m STILL waiting on psych dr. As posted b4, he lost my initial papers & after 3 weeks finally admitted it.I had to take the test over.No biggie really. I went to my multi-dr appts Tuesday & his office said I had no appt sched. w/him. It was written on my paper so they worked me in but it was NOT on his schedule books. He told me he'd get the report to my surgeons office by 5pm Tuesday. As of today, still NO REPORT from psch dr!! The person who submits this to my ins. for approval is leaving for vacation today, so if the report isnt in it wont be submitted for another week, then I do the Aetna waiting game. VERY frustrated w/psych dr for these delays but hopeful this all works out. Surgery is scheduled Oct 8th......trying to stay positive it will happen. -
starting diet/still waiting on psych report
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the waiting is nerve wracking. Esp. when the psych dr "promised" he'd get that report in by 5 on Tuesday. Well, I got my GREAT news today! The gal who submits papers to ins. knew how important this was to me. The psych dr didnt get the report in until THURSDAY . Even though this gal who does ins. submitting is on vacation, she faxed my papers to ins.......and I got my APPROVAL!!!! :scared2: Good luck to you as well ! -
Timmers_thanks for posting that link. And, yes, it pretty much shows it like it is. I just know every time I wanna reach for something NOT on this liver shrinking diet I get an image of that video & it reminds me I need to hang in there . :scared2:

Inpatient or Outpatient @ your hospital
WhyW8 replied to Tory09's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said I'd be outpatient because I'm a lower risk patient. BUT when I reminded him I live over 2 hrs away we decided it would be best if I stay at a local hotel & see him in his office the next day. I have to stay at the hotel the night before surgery anyways (or leave my house at 4 am to get to hosp. on surgery day). My husband will be with me. The dr said the hospital will pay for both nights of my hotel stay. -
I see my dr tomorrow & will ask this but in the mean time---I'm reading thru the info I was given about pre-and post-surgery. It says I need to stop taking any hormone replacement medications for one month prior to surgery, one week minimum. (I"m hoping to have surgery in 2 weeks if ins. approves it) Has anyone else had to stop their hrt, and if so, why? I had total hysterectomy 2 years ago. Won't this cause me to have hot flashes and other symptoms?

stopping hrt before surgery?
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, surgeon says it's b/cause of the risk of blood clots w/wls. I"ll stop my med a week before surgery and deal w/the migraines and other issues that will cause. Again, scares me that my knee surgeon didnt require this b/cause that surgeon kept telling me to watch for signs of blood clots! -
stopping hrt before surgery?
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I"m scheduled to see a new gyn this week as well. The one who did my hyster. just said I'd be on the hrt the rest of my life but he is "old school" I've never been told to stop the hrt before any other surgery so that threw me for a loop (so to speak) when I read it in drs orders for pre-surgery. Will see what the surgeon says tomorrow  -
stopping hrt before surgery?
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thats interesting b/cause I had knee surgery (scope type) in the spring and NO ONE told me to stop taking the hrt before surgery. Sooo, do I take it after surgery at some point? I guess I dont know when I should just stop taking it for good ...... -
psych dr has LOST my papers......argh
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you RM! :tt1: -
How frustrating! My surgeon's office submitted everything to ins except my recent psych report. We've waited 2 weeks & psych said he's working on my report. Finally today he admits he has lost the report I filled out so I have to fill out a 2nd one. He says once he gets my report it will be another 2 weeks before having any result to send to ins. As stated earlier, I"m trying to speed this up due to my husband losing his job in October. I'd like to wring someones neck......can I put THAT in the report?? lol

psych dr has LOST my papers......argh
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The surgeon's fee actually includes the psych visit along with labs and other visits I need to qualify for in. I did finally get the test to open, now to just relax with a cup of tea before taking the test LOL -
psych dr has LOST my papers......argh
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can only think these obstacles are being put in front of me as a test of my patience........ to top it off the drs office says they'll just fax me the test and I can just fax it back. I must be the ONE in a million who does NOT have a fax at my house  They sent the test in an email and I cant get it to open. :tt1: I know there are bigger problems in the world going on but this is starting to wear on me  -
My initial problem w/Aetna was when I called to ask about nutritionist visits. One person told me it was NOT required so don't do it. When I reread my book it said it IS required. I called back and was told it IS required but Aetna does NOT pay for a nutritionist visit so it was up to me if I wanted to see one. Why would I not want to see one if not seeing one meant I would not be able to qualify for surgery???? Glad I figured that out before going thru 3 mo. of other multi. visits & have surgery denied b/cause of Aetna employee giving me the wrong info.
-
I"m nervously and anxiously waiting for insurance approval. I'm almost to my 3 mo. appt needed for Aetna's approval. My drs office submitted already for pre-approval because I've found out my husband is going to be laid off work in October, which was my original surgery date. No work= no insurance. If we can get a pre-approval, then do my final dr appt next week, I could possibly get my lapband end of Sept.....keeping my fingers & toes crossed.

losing ins...trying to speed up process
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
RM, the surgeon I"m going to includes one year of after care fills, etc. I know what you mean though and that thought crossed my mind. -
losing ins...trying to speed up process
WhyW8 replied to WhyW8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the info. Cobra is VERY high for us b/cause our son is in remission from a rare muscle disease. I dont think we will be able to afford Cobra with husband's job loss. If my surgery is approved I've met my deductibles and will pay very little out of pocket. Trying to not get frustrated. I've spent many months debating on the lap band. Just one more *very big* obstacle. -
excited that this may happen for me!
WhyW8 replied to shipley68's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope everything goes well for you! I'm just beginning my lap band journey as well. -
I was told by dr and nutritionist to stop drinking soda even before surgery. Sorry this happened to you but makes me even more sure to listen to my dr!

I would send only copies b/cause if the originals get lost then you have no proof. Maybe you can even email them?
