Hello Lisa6! I have a Realize Band also..was banded on July 17,2009, have lost 29 lbs thus far...have had 2 fills and I am at 5 on a 9 band. My weight loss isn't as fast as I would like, started out at 232 and will work to lose another 50 lbs. Slow but steady. I got off track last week while vacationing in NYC and gained 4 (!!!!!) lbs, I am really not sure how that happened as I was feeling restriction and eating very small amounts...dr said might be liquid and lack of enough exercise, but we walked, really walked at a good clip, all over the city, it seemded like alot of exercise to me!!!! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress on this thread..it is good to hear how other Realize Bandsters are doing. :w00t:

I finally got it thru my thick head
Keswick Lady replied to jkend50035's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
wow ...103 lbs lost!!!!! There is hope for me yet..I,too, fight the small bites, chew-chew-chew part of the 'program'but keep on working at it...just 2 months into my journey, had my first fill last week, a bit of restriction but not as much as the nurse said I would feel after my 2nd next month..so I am working hard to add to my 23 lb loss..looking forward to my next fill!!! Maybe at age 64 my loss will be a bit slower but that is okay!!!!!! Thanks for the inspiration....it sure helps. -
What motivates me is....my measuring tape sitting atop my bathroom counter, better than the scale! Love the idea of putting a tight piece of clothing in front of my closet, will try that..it feels soooo good to slip into something that has been 'snug'. Also, last but certainly not least...the idea that maybe I can toss my Diabetes meds with the weight loss.

How do you feel after your fills?
Keswick Lady replied to thebandedgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had 'cold feet' for a full year before being banded...in that time I read all of the forums and realized that the band is a 'tool' to help you lose weight and KEEP IT Off..you do have to take responsiblity for the correct food choices but the band helps you to not overeat. Honestly I feel as tho this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. The folks on the forum have offered a wealth of knowledge and encouragement ..it was so nice knowing my questions can be answered even before I ask them. Good luck with your decision...don't be afraid of the 'fills', they are your friend!!!!!! Pam -
Is this going to work for me?
Keswick Lady replied to Trappedinafatbody's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes,yes, yes it will work for you!!! Doug you seem to be doing great..hitting a plateau is discouraging, maybe you need a fill. I went through the same thing and went for my first fill, it did help..but was told I may not get the restriction I need until my 2nd or 3rd fill. Don't give up or give in!!!!! This surgery is the best thing I have ever done for myself..weight is coming off slowly and with the right attitude toward food choices it will never return, so different than a 'diet' with pounds coming back plus a few more. Keep up the good work. Pam -
I am new to banding, had it done 3 weeks ago and have lost 14 lbs so far...have hit a plateau but that is expected I guess!!! It has taken me years to put on the weight but want it to come off in DAYS!! I feel great & am inspired by the comments & stories from all of you. So good to find a 60s group. In fact, the entire site has been a blessing as you have helped answer questions... I have been lurking since the day before surgery!

Good Luck fellow Virginian!! I was banded last Friday 7/17 and feel great---tummy is sore but I can deal with a bit of 'soreness' in pursuit of stunning weight loss!!!!!! I had my surgery at UVA and the surgeon, Dr. Schimer & staff have been fantastic!
