OK so I was born a big monster sized baby and I never stopped growing. I have always been known as the "big girl with a pretty face". I have tried every diet known to man, Im too fat to work out or at least in my head I am. Nothing seems to change except my damn age!
I want a normal life. Im approaching 40 in one month on Aug 10th and I want to grow old, and I have come to realize that if I don't do something now I am going to die at an early age! I have too much heart to go this young!
So I have a friend and she had gastric bypass last year and has been dropping enormous amounts of weight (over 80 lbs). I have watched her start eating healthy, working out and just feeling better about herself in general. I thought if she can do this, I definitely can.
So I gave her doctor a call and made an appt on June 18th. They measured every nook and cranny, weighed me, I underwent a psych evaluation, met with a nutrionist and then finally with the doctor.
We chatted quite a bit and he said to me..."You are a perfect candidate"....I was like really? AMAZING! So we talked about the fact that I have been having acid reflux quite a bit and he suggested an endoscopy to take a look, I agreed of course. He scheduled the procedure for June 26th.
I show up at the hospital and of course they had issues getting a vein for my IV but then a "special" IV nurse finally got me going. The procedure went well and as he had suspected I have a Hiatal Hernia. He is going to repair this on my actual surgery date.
Now in this timeframe I have started weening myself off of coke and switching to water with crystal light. Im down to 1 coke a day and over 100 ounces of water a day! This itself is a miracle.
Now comes the dreaded insurance approval. They tell me that I have a pre existing clause and they will need to investigate before they can approve the surgery. Now IM TRIPPIN....I have waited what feels like a lifetime to have this surgery, to be normal and wear normal clothes.
Then bam.....the insurance (Anthem) calls and tells me that my surgery has been approved. OMG OMG its happening! The doctors office calls and my surgery date is July 16th at 11:30am and I need to attend a nutrition class on July 8th.
I must say that I am so blessed to have friends and family and my Jen that are in full support of me having this surgery and making life altering changes...Thank you to each of you and I love you!
I will post before and after surgery pics, diet info, weight loss tracking and gripes...LOL
