  1. Hello all. I'm new to the lap band land. My doctor just recommend it yesterday. Both my husband and I are attending a seminar 8-13-09 and I must say that I'm exicted. My main concern is the cost but I've been told that by my insurance that all i should have to pay is a $250.00 copay. I have United Healthcare. If anybody has dealt with them please let me know or if anyone has had lap band at Clark Memorial in Indiana. Thanks and happy losing.
  2. I talked to my care coorindinator with United Healthcare today. They should call them i don't care. Anywho, i couldn't really get an anwser on specific requirements. I have no comobities(sp) and my BMI just dropped to 39.9 when i went to doctor Monday. I'm currently taking adipex. I'm going to use Clark Memorial in Jeffersonville Indiana and I was wondering how much leg work will they do for me? I'm really concerned I'll be denied.

    Hello from Southern Indiana

I have talked to Caroline several times on the phone and she seems like such a nice person. She was very helpful and she tried to answer all my stupid questions. We are so going to be thier 8-13-09

    Health insurance questions

I have UHC as well. When i first called thay said as long as BMI>35 the surgery is covered, but as I started reading more on different website, it did sound way to easy so I called again and talked to a care coordinator and she really got me confused. No definite answer about guidelines. I just going to go to seminar with my husband(who is also thinking about band) and see what they say. I know my doc will be more than happy to help and maybe they will take in to account my family history.

    Hello from Southern Indiana

Hopefully we can both be approved. I'm currently taking adipex and my BMI has dropped to 39.9 and i have no comobities(sp)My husband BMI is 44 and he has hypertension. I am really hoping that UHC takes in account my family history of heart disease, generative bone loss, etc. I talked to a care coorinator today and she was really rude. I couldn't get one straight answer.GRRRH:mad:
