Thanks for the words of encouragement. I dont feel like i've made it out of the blocks yet....maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel:blush:

Hey Chickie I thought your face looked familiar...that's so funny. I live up near the big golf ball on the hill (you'll know what I mean). Your story is such an inspiration. Good on ya girl!!! Feeling bit dishearted at the moment. I'm hungry and picking at food and my other half telling I'm going to stretch my stomach and ruin the band and its all just s***. Any words of encouragement. I could do with something right now. Eating normally, just no where near a much. These dietician's just dont seem to have a clue so I just stop when I feel full, surely listening to what my body is telling me is the best indication. Fill not till the 20th. I need tighting up. Allowing too much crap through, I know I am, but sometimes I just can't stop myself

Cool and email the receptionist at the surgery and ask about the item numbers.
-
Hi everyone, Does anyone understand how this item number 30511 works. I am scheduled to have my surgery on the 21st of this month and I am having it done privately in a public hospital to keep the cost down as I do not have private health cover. So I am paying for the surgeon, the band, the anethetist and the night in hospital. What is this item number for. Can I claim on it and are there any other item numbers that may be useful. You guys are an endless well of info on most things so please can you help with this. Sarah

Do you wanna know what I think 'em. This is our battle. I am doing this for me...for my family....for my kids. For my health and our future. I don't give a rats's  what anyone else thinks. They can think what they like and i'll do exactly as I please. I'm paying for the surgery, it is my body. Why do these people care? Do they not have lives of there own to be concerned with instead of worrying about me??? Strange people, and they call us!?!?!? I have this tatto on my chest it is for people like this it says. Illegitimi Non Carabundum

Hi guys my name is Sarah, I am wanting to hear from anyone who has had their surgery funded by their super and it has been approved for release by APRA. I sent my forms in and they have written to me to say that they want more information from my doctor and for me to explain why I cannot get a loan to pay for my surgery. I am 155cm and 160kg. Surely they can see this is not right. This is my last hope. I am so scared they are gonna turn me down. My surgery is booked in for the 16th December. Please any assurance, tips or help would be greatly appreciated.:smile2:

APRA - Why are they giving me grief?
sarah0607 replied to sarah0607's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It funny Pink Princess that you mentioned about the lapbanding and people's comments on it. The Brisbane newspaper, the Courier Mail did a story on me a few months ago when this debate was on about whether it should be covered by Medicare. My GP would not write a letter to get the surgery until he has monitored me on a weight loss program for a year. I have had so many tests and they cannot figure out what is going on. I go to the gym 5 days a week. I am a healthy 160kg person....apparently!?%& Fingers crossed that APRA come thru :smile2: -

Thanks for the advise Pink Princess I guess we all have our fears. It is just great to hear from people who understand what you are going through. You are right I have myself so hyped up for this surgery, it so very important to me, to my life, my kids future. I'm just panicking. Back at the doctors this week to get the extra info will keep you posted about how I get on...thanks:thumbup: -
Hi just wanted to get in touch with an Brisbane people who have or are planning the surgery. I have an appointment with Dr Greenslade next Friday and looking at surgery sometime in December.
-
I live in brisbane and have no private health cover. The best way i have found to try and keep my costs down is by finding a doctor who does it 'Intermediately' meaning it is done as a private patient in a public hospital I have my appt with the surgeon next Friday and have been told the waiting list is back to December but by doing it through him my surgery will only cost $7200. He is also assisting me with paying for the op with help either withdrawing money from my super or their is a company called mediplan which is like a finance company that loans for surgery like lapband. Hope this helps...keep up the fight!!!
