Sorry Restless Monkey...yes, I meant you. And that is actually a GREAT idea...I am going to do that!

I wasn't hungry AT ALL and was so dizzy and light-headed that I felt horrible even laying down. It felt like when one drinks too much alcohol and the room is spinning (the last thing one feels like doing is eating and drinking when one feels like this.) It was the dizziness that was the WORST. And Parrot...I know! I have been so sick and my nurse thinks that I am having anxiety attacks (but I am not). I live in a very small NE town and the doctors around here don't know anything about lapband and wouldn't know how to help me. I can only rely on my lapband doctor (who is nicer than the nurse). He really does try to help me. The problem is that the problems come and go so sometimes when I see him my chest doesn't hurt (like on Monday). He focused on my dizziness and that has gone away. Now that I am eating again though...my chest pain is back.

I feel the same way!!!!! I am 3 weeks post op and my chest feels tight....to the point that I don't like to stand up straight because it feels like something is pulling when I do. Is your feeling anything like this? I don't have the feeling of a lump in my throat but it is very hard for me to eat and drink. I did have a slight case of dehydration because of that and TRUST ME you don't want that to happen...it is horrible. Make yourself drink anything that you can (I know it is hard). Lately I have been trying to walk more and that makes me thirsty and therefore helps me drink more Water. The Protein drinks are almost impossible for me to stomach also. However, I am more concerned about our chest pain. What is it? Will it go away? And I wish everyone would quit saying that it is gas because it doesn't feel like that at all. It is a tightness/pulling feeling. Anyone out there that can help us?

I am three weeks post op and I cannot stand up completely straight. I feel like something is pulling between my breasts when I do so I walk a little hunched over. Has anyone else experienced this for this long? And when will it go away?
-
Maybe I shouldn't say "can't" because I can straighten up like if I lay on the floor or something. However, it does pull a little...I just feel tight. But when I am walking it is hard to make myself stand up straight because of the pulling.

My port incision is indented. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. Is this normal? Will it go back to normal? It scared me this morning when I looked at it. I called my doctor and he didn't seem too concerned but might prescribe an antibiotic just in case. I am just more concerned with the indentation.:crying:

update: I called the doctor on Monday and they put me on an antibiotic and set me up with an appt. for them to look at it. Today at my appt. they said that my incisions looked fine (by then my port scar didn't look nearly as indented and gross as on Monday...so I probably looked like an idiot to them.) However, the last few days I have been sooooo dizzy. They thought maybe is was from the antibiotic so told me to quit taking it since my scars looked fine and told me to also drink more. I think that it is already working. I hate that I freak about something and call the doctor but then it goes away. I feel like an idiot and my nurse thinks that I have anxiety. They don't realize that I am not in the medical field and therefore don't know what is okay and what I should worry about...frustrating!

Was your doctor ever worried about it or say that it was a sign of infection? Or is it normal? You don't sound like you were freaked out about it like I am.

I am two weeks post-op and have noticed that sometimes when I take a deep breathe I can "feel" something under my left breast. I don't mean physically feel with my fingers. About a week ago it was much worse and couldn't really walk on the treadmill because I could really feel it then. It doesn't hurt. It is just a weird tightness or pulling feeling. I do feel like it has gotten better since a week ago so that gives me hope but I still worry about it. I am seeing the doctor tomorrow but feel like he will just make up an answer so I am asking if anyone else has felt this. Is it a normal part of healing? The people that I know that have had the lap band put in say that they CAN'T feel anything when they breath so that is what worries me the most. Help?
-
My port is right in the middle of my uppper abdomen. BUT my band should be under my left breast...right? That is what someone else said on this board and is what got me thinking that that is what hurts somehow.
-
Okay, I am now about 2 1/2 weeks post-op and this pain still hasn't gone away. I am now 100% sure that it isn't gas pain. If my pain is right under my left breast could it be my actual band that is hurting? Or maybe the muscle around there? I ask because the pain is just left of my top incision and others on this board mentioned something about that area needing time to heal. How long has it taken most of you to feel "normal" again? And have you had similar pain around this area? I guess I will keep asking until I find someone that can help me out. I am getting a little scared. It hurts the most when I try to stretch. I still can't stand up completely straight. Help?

Thank you for taking an interest. That is what I'll do. Thanks again.

I am not sure but it feels like something is there...but not all the time. Like a tube or something? It almost feels like I have an underwire bra on, but I don't. I feel it with or without a bra on. I hope it is gas but it is hard to imagine that gas would feel like this. My doctor felt under my breast and that didn't hurt so it must be inside. The doctor told me to keep taking gas-x and maybe a mild laxative. I hadn't been doing that ever since my left shoulder quit hurting 5 days after my operation. I hope it works but I hate to think that I am the only one in the world with this feeling. I would like to know that it will go away and I will feel normal again.

well I went to the doctor today and they said that my "feeling" underneath my left breast might still be gas. I hope that that is what it is and I thought that that is what they would say. Again, has anyone else had this feeling?

I am 6 days post surgery and have a horrible left shoulder pain. Sometimes it is unbearable and at other times it seems to just linger there. Today it actually seems to have moved to my lower back on the left side. I am extremely frustrated!!! This is not what I expected to feel like. The last thing on my mind is eating since the pain is so bad. It is much worse after eating and drinking but even if I try not to eat/drink...the pain is still there. My doctor gave me something for gas but that doesn't seem to be helping. I have BMs and it seems as if gas is escaping but the pain is not relieved. I just want to hear that this is a temporary thing and that I will soon feel normal. Can anyone relate or help??????

Original poster here...thank you everyone for the replies! My shoulder pain did go away after about 4 or 5 days. I got worried because the doctor's pamphlet said it would only last 1 or 2 days. I thought that I was irregular and that something was wrong. I also don't have the back "pain" but my back does ache a little but I think that that is from sitting around so much. Now that I am walking more...that too is improving. For those with future pain...a heating pad worked very well and it also helped to put it on my lower abdomen (not on incisions). I couldn't walk much but when I did, it did help get rid of some gas. I drank milk of magnesia and liquid tylenol besides the prescription pain meds. I used liquid gas-x also. Good luck...it will go away!
