    Slow Going...

I know what you are talking about. I am 6 months out and at 3 months, I basically stopped losing weight. I was so discouraged. I gave up and gained a little weight back and I dont suggest you do the same. Just stick with it! Its frustrating and most people plateau at some point after surgery, but give it a little time and you will start to see progress again. It took me 3 months to start losing again, but I am. Remember, everyone is different, and you shouldnt gauge your success based upon everyone elses.

    I'm back!

Hello all. I have been gone for a while but I am back now. I had gotten extremely discouraged after a 3 month plateau, but I am happy to report, that I have gotten over the hump and am on my way. I had gotten so discouraged that I stopped using Protein shakes, stopped exercising, and even though I still watched my diet, was a little less restrictive and controlled. I couldnt take it anymore! I was doing everything perfectly and just couldnt lose weight! I have had a lot going on in my personal life within the last 2 months, more than I am prepared to discuss, and stuff one person should not have to deal with all in a short amount of time. But through it I realized that I have to get back on track. I have to get my body in the shape and condition I originally set out for. I was tired of being "lazy" about it and wanted some damn progress. Though I havent really started exercising again yet, I have restarted my Protein Shakes and restrictive diet. I am happy to say that by doing so, in the last 2 1/2 weeks, I have lost 9 lbs. Not to mention I have found my new favorite protein shake! Just remember, dont give up! Even when you think you can't do it anymore, find that inner strength to help push you back on track. Hope you are all doing well on your journey! To contintued success!:smile2:

Can anyone eat rice at all?

Rice is tricky. At times I can eat small quantities, but at others, I can barely get a forkful down. I have found that brown rice is easier than white rice, but the method of cooking and end texture do play a factor.

    Party 3 days later???

Two days after my surgery was my niece's communtion party. It was at my sister-in-laws house so I knew it was more laid back. I went and got along well. When I got tired, I went inside and laid down. I sat and relaxed as much as possible. I also live about 1.5 miles from her house, so I had the option to go home if I wasnt feeling well. Hopefully it works out for you! Just take it easy if you decided to attend. Be smart and dont push yourself.
  8. I agree...all of this is extremely helpful. I am about 3 1/2 months out from my surgery and I havent lost more than 3 lbs in the last 8wks and I am getting discouraged. I have had 2 fills. Both resulting in very little restriction, though I have seen slight changes when eating certain types of food or if I eat too quickly. Minus a treat here and there, I am pretty good with what I eat. I just cant get over this hump! I slowed down on exercise due to vacation and being sick but am starting to pick back up. I am a very picky eater, so variety has been a problem for me. I have been eating high Protein, low carb, low sugar meals and I dont know what else to do. I am still using Protein Shakes to supoplement my protein intake and consume approx. 80gr of protein a day, usually never exceeding 1500-1800 calories. i have found that calorie counting has been extremely helpful. Does anyone have any other tips?

    Plateau already?!

Thanks guys. Its a relief to know this is normal! I will try not to sweat it until I get my first fill (Aug 25th). I am just going to stick to the diet and exercise and if it continues, even if slow, then so be it. How much does everyone exercise?
  10. I was banded 7/10/09. In the first 2 weeks, I lost 19lbs, so I think I am doing pretty well. However, in the last week I haven't lost anything and have maintained my 19lb loss. My concern is that I am going on solid food tomorrow (I have been on mushies for the last week) and that I have hit a plateau very early on. My doctor just told me 2 days ago that I can increase my exercise and start light work outs at the gym again, but to still be careful and not overexert myself. My question is, how quickly do you normally plateau? Is this typical? What can I do besides increase my exercise? I have been very conservative with my food intake because I have not been starving and have been feeling good. I really wasnt expecting to be at a standstill already. To be honest, its a little discouraging. I mean, evn if it slowed down to a pound or 2, I would be ok, b/c then atleast I am seeing progress.
  11. I had a hiatal hernia repair as well. I experienced similar problems with the pain in the chest while the gas. Otherwise, mine was fairly mild. I found that liquid tylenol helped quite a bit. Don't worry, it definately gets easier, just give it a few days.

    July Newbie

So I guess I have officially joined the Freedom Fighters. I was banded on July 10th. I am eager to start this wonderful journey and can't wait to see my progress in the following months.
  15. I just got banded 5 days ago and I destinctly remember my surgeon telling me twice already that it needs to be deflated or unfulled for any future procedures. I would listen to the nurse, there is probably a good reason for it. Worse comes to worse, verify the information with your surgeon. Hope this helps.
