  2. I did a pizza two nights ago, then spag bol with garlic bread the next night, then today half a chocolate bar, 2 bread rolls and a McFeast with large French Fries - at least the BBQ sauce was liquid!!!! But I have had hell week and to top it off last night my whole house turned into a sewer - the plumbing went caput and i had sewer coming out of every sink and floor waste, and every toilet was blocked - no wonder I have gone to the dogs.
  3. Good luck to those on the 7th!!!!!
  4. I am pathetic - I am cheating almost everyday on the pre-op diet.... I think it is psychological - because I can I will.... how will I go post-op???? OMG OMG OMG

    results not typical

Hi Texas Rose, I have a similar problem... I have had my foot reconstructed after an accident so very limited in mobility/exercise. And of course I ate to console myself... and the bigger I got the harder it is to walk, because I have a dodgy foot carrying an ever-increasing weight. I am hoping (praying) that band will be the solution... I was 106.8 kg at the beginning of July. I have done 4 days of Optifast and weighed myself this morning and I was 101.0 kg. so happy with that!!! My doctor said I have to get to 100kg before surgery so only 1kg to go - which shouldnt be a problem with 12 days to go. Surgery is on 13th August. Any experience with lapband results where mobility is limited would be appreciated (tips, how you went, rate of loss etc) My goal is to get to 60kg - which will mean a 46.8kg total loss. I am 165cm tall and 44 years old. Does anyone know if this is a reasonable goal or expectation? I see the photos in the gallery of people that have achieved great results, yet still wonder if this is really possible for me. xxx
  6. All pre-op tests done today... See doctor & anaesthetist on Monday morning the 3rd Aug, then green light until op on 13th August. Waking up to Optifast shakes x 2 and 2 cups steamed veggies per day. I can handle it. I have to. Daughter is going to do Optifast with me in sympathy. Well it looks like we are all getting set for the best thing since bread was sliced and put in a bag... Cheers and good luck to ALL!!!! Will be watching keenly for feedback from the early starters :juggle:
  7. Gee thanks - I was just assuming that he meant any soft drink - wasnt thinking about bubbles/fizzy. Another thing to stay away from!!!
  8. I only found out about lapband early in July. Made 2 appointments for the 20th July, but decided to go with the first one I saw. He was very young and very confident and it was an immediate bonding. August 13th for me at Baulkham Hills Private (Dr Brendan Ryan from Circle of Care) Start diet on 30th July. Did it for 2 days just to try - no probs with Optifast vanilla at all.... but terrified that 14 days IS JUST SO LONG!!!!!!!! and then the same again on the other side of the surgery!!!!!!!!!! OMG HOW?!?!?!?!? Willpower is something I just dont have!!!!!! Plus I smoke (Far too many) Sooooo nasty as anything for me. I work from home doing accounting etc. so am hoping I can continue to work even if a bit slower. $4950 AUD less Medicare rebate $450 = $4500 which sound s pretty good to me, then I have to pay $500 hospital excess with Medibank Private - so out of pocket is $5000. Have to pay for ultrasounds etc $250 and pathology which I get done on 3rd August, but any retesting after that is bulkbilled. Need to fast 10-12 hours before both some having them an hour apart, first thing in the morning which should make it easier. Pre-op review on 4th August to look at test and see anaesthetist, answer any concerns etc discuss technique to be used. I have noticed some adverts on this site promoting single incision through belly button - I am going to ask if he can do this way - if not no probs - but what the hell might as well try. Big hurdle for me is that I have booked a big cruise for Christmas... our holiday of our lifetime. Hopefully lapband will be in full swing by then and I don't circum to all the evils of the 24 hour buffets... What do I do about cocktails - he said that liquid sugars are the devil to lapbands. They run straight through and are the main cause of failures/disappointing results. He was very matter of fact about it. DON'T DRINK SUGAR!!! that includes fruit juices. zero calorie soft drinks are ok, and sugar substitutes in coffee/tea are ok... no smoothies milkshakes cordials alcohol icecream (it melts to be liquid) or chocolate (same - melts) WISHING US ALL LUCK AND ANY TIPS APPRECIATED

  10. Eucalyptus oil works on amything sticky or dirty... (carpet stains as well) not sure if it is available over in USA (its an australian product) it would be stocked by a pharmacy/chemist/drugstore. Definitely worth hunting for because you can use it for so many things... ----------------------------------- Uses for eucalyptus oil By Green Living Tips | Published 06/25/2008 | home , cleaning Using eucalyptus oil around the home There's nothing quite like the scent of a eucalytpus forest after an extended dry spell is broken by rain - everything smells so clean and fresh! Uses for Eucalyptus oil around the house Aside from medicinal uses, eucalyptus oil can be used around your home to replace many environmentally harsh synthetic chemicals. Penny, a professional cleaner, wrote to me with these tips: "I make a spray and wipe with Water, eucalyptus oil and some washing up liquid. The idea comes from a hospital cleaner and works well. Proportions are not rocket science. Fill bottle mostly with water - add a slurp of dishwashing liquid and then a capful or thereabouts of 100% eucalyptus. shake gently to mix. Works well on all surfaces. I use it diluted again in a little water in a bucket and it is great for all those finger marks that are hard to move from laminex finishes." - You can also make a general disinfectant for toilets etc and again, it's a very simple recipe. mix 50 ml (1.6 oz) of eucalyptus oil with a liter (quart) of water. That's it - you can store it as you would a normal disinfectant. - Eucalyptus oil can be used neat in order to remove sticker/decal residue from glass - Add 1-2 teaspoonfuls of eucalyptus oil to your load of washing for a fresh scent along with the anti-microbial benefits - Use the oil neat to help remove paint, grease and ink from clothes - If you have a hanging car air freshener that's almost dead, reinvigorate it by adding a few drops of eucalyptus oil - Half a teaspoon mixed with half a liter of water makes for a good bug repellant for plants - Use it as a stainless steel cleaner - To use as a room air freshener, Mix a quarter of a teaspooon or 15 drops of eucalyptus oil with a half teaspoon of vodka, place in an atomizer/spray bottle and add 2 cups of water. This should be quite subtle, so you may need to add more.
