  1. Happy 34th Birthday Colls!

  2. Happy 33rd Birthday Colls!

  3. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary Colls!

  4. I was on clear liquids for two weeks and was told to sip 4 oz of liquids every hour and to have three 4 oz protein shakes. Basically I needed to be sipping every hour. I was required to get in 64 oz of liquids and 72 grams of protein each day.
  5. I saw my nutritionist yesterday for meal advancement and she said that I was to eat 4 tbs of mushies three times a day. Not sure how many calories that equates to but I am sure it not too much considering the size! I am eating low fat and high protein things, plus the protein shakes three times a day.
  6. I am on clear liquids for two weeks and then I go to mushies (hopefully Thursday!). Like you, I am very sick of liquids. To mix things up I had some miso soup (drained - no tofu or seaweed). I also went to the Chinese place by work and got a large container of wonton soup broth (no wontons or scallions). This tasted like food to me! Be careful of sodium - you can dilute these with some water to reduce your sodium intake. Another soup is egg drop soup.

    Nexium

Before surgery I was taking Prilosec, which is like Nexium only it is available over the counter. I don't have GERD, just acid reflux. After surgery my surgeon put me on Prilosec for another month in order to avoid ulcers. I am not sure if I will need to continue taking it or not after the first month. It seems that every doctor is different though.
  8. I was banded on the 20th and had 3 cc's at the time of surgery. However, I was not allowed to leave the hospital until I was able to drink 4 oz of liquid in one hour. The process was very time consuming: 1 oz in an hour (4 times) 2 or in an hour (4 times) 3 oz in an hour (4 times) 4 oz in an hour (4 times) I was okay until I reached the last hour of the 4 oz - I got very nauseous and had to stay an extra night. My surgeon game in and told me there are a couple of reasons this could have happened. One - they took me off of the IV medication and gave me two pills to swallow. In order to swallow the pills you are required to drink a little more liquid in less time - this could cause nausea. Two - the band has 3 cc's and they may need to do an unfill if I can't get the 4 oz down with out feeling ill. I think it was the pills - the next time they gave me some I asked them to break them in half and then took them in a longer period of time. I feel great right now and have been on Clear Liquids since the 18th. Tomorrow is my second follow up and I should be okay to start mushies (I can't wait).
  9. Wow, you are more than half way to your goal! That must be an amazing feeling! Congrats and keep up the good work!
  10. Thanks so much for the encouraging words! I can't wait to see my after pics either :)

  11. Thanks and congrats to you too! Good luck on your first fill! You have lost so much already - great job :)

  12. I had Dermabond, the nurse who discharged me told me not to get them too wet and to not face the oncoming water in the shower. Then when I went to my follow up on Wednesday they told me that she was wrong and that I as allowed to take a real shower. I was told that I could gently wash them and then pat them dry once I am out of the shower. It felt good to take a real shower again!

    Mushies recipes??

It is by Pat Levine and a few other people, but she is the one that is a "Foodie" who got the lap band. Here is the link to amazon.com... Mushies recipes??

Wow, you are so lucky - I am still on my clear liquid diet! I can't wait for mushies! I bought a couple cans of fat free refried beans and reduced fat Colby Jack cheese and I can't wait to dig into that. I might spice it up with a homemade salsa as well. Soft scrambled eggs are okay - you can even make a sort of omelet. Cook up what you want in there (tomatoes, mushrooms, onion whatever you like) and then throw that mixture into the blender. Then cook it all up together with the egg. I bought this book, Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery and it is wonderful. Every recipe has guidelines for how to prepare each meal for each stage of our diets. I tested out the Zucchine Lasagna recipe a month ago. It tastes great in solid form and in pureed form. There are a number of really yummy soups in their too which are full of protein.
